    Excellent, though 2mm is so thin! When I think of eva foam, it's the rigidity of the thicker foam that draws me to it. But still, it's good to know the limitations of Cricut. No silver bullet.

    One question I had, is what purpose does the vinyl serve? Is it to act as a transfer medium of sorts?

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  5 лет назад +3

      Hillary Kuemmerlin you’re very welcome! The vinyl set upside down on the mat helps anchor the foam down, which is especially helpful with those tiny details.

    May i ask what hitting it with the heat gun does?

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  2 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed it! The heat gun seals the Eva foam, so if you’ve scored the surface the scored lines will become very visible as the surface pores close when exposed to the high heat.

    I had a question! How often do you have to change the blade? Do you buy the third party deep blades in bulk? Or do you buy the official circuit ones? Thanks! I just got my cricut maker 3 today, and I'm so excited!

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  2 года назад +1

      I’d recommend always buying Cricut brand blades to ensure you don’t damage your machine. I will change the blade when it starts to struggle making crisp cuts, which can vary for each kind of material you’re using. Congratulations on the new machine!

    Is there a reason of why to put the vinyl down, rather than just sticking the foam to the mat? I bought some vinyl and am just curious

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  4 года назад +1

      The vinyl offers more adhesive strength without damaging your mat. Another method that I have been using recently is using blue painter's tape instead of the vinyl. It can be added to the entire piece of foam first, and then you place it on the mat, do your cut, and then remove the tape from the foam. This can be a little less expensive that using the vinyl.

    Any settings for wonderflex and cricut air2?

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Amanda! I haven't yet tried to cut Wonderflex with the cricut, but I would imagine it would be with the same settings I cover in my other episode about cutting Worbla. With the added mesh fibers, you might need to add more cut passes by pressing the "C" button at the end of each cut until you are happy with the results. :)

  • @WARPAINTandUnicorns
    @WARPAINTandUnicorns 5 лет назад

    I don't own one yet but is there a way to set up the project to do a score and then cut pass on the same piece that way you don't have to worry about realigning the mat for a second pass to do your final cut?

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  5 лет назад

      At the moment you can only use one blade at a time, so unfortunately it would be very difficult to do both. What you could do is draw the outline with the pen tool, and then use the blade to score your details. This can happen in the same session. :)

    Hi Beverly, hope you are doing fine!! I already posted sometime that maker is on my shop list. I am going to NYCC and probably will be my chance to buy it!! I would like to understand how many acessories I should buy. I understand that Knife blade will be one, but since we know foam consumes lots of blades, how this will work for cricut, I will need to buy lots of them? :-(. also I checked that it will only cut 2mm foam. is it able to cut something as 6mm? I heard it also cuts leather. thanks in advance for any tip you can give !! :-)

    • @DownenCreativeStudios
      @DownenCreativeStudios  4 года назад

      Hello! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! If you haven't already purchased the knife blade, you'll need ONE housing, and a few spare blades. In my experience, the blade doesn't need to be replaced super often, but once you start to notice the cuts aren't super clean, it might be time to replace them. I usually try to grab blades when I can, so I'm not stuck searching for them when I need them urgently. The max size to cut is 2mm materials. Yes, it can cut leather too!
