  • After deconstructing quite a few leather shoes on the channel, this brand submission from Beckett Simonon is now my favorite in the leather shoe category.
    Beckett Simonon sent me these shoes in exchange for my honest review. Brands cannot view or request revisions to these reviews prior to the video publishing date.

    I purchased a pair after watching this review and I am in love. They are so well made, beyond comfortable and a great value. I had purchased a pair of Seychelles boots in a similar style & price last year compared to the Beckett and the Seychelles are already worn out and you can tell a huge difference in quality. I expect to own the beckets for many years

    Thanks so much for the detailed and thorough review. We love your work and we're beyond ecstatic to see you like our products! However, there is a small clarification regarding the term "Vachetta leather."
    The leather we use in our shoe linings is a specialized variation of Vachetta leather. While Vachetta leather is commonly associated with handbags and is a somewhat broad term, our application involves a combination of tanning processes as you mentioned. We utilize a blend of both vegetable tanning and a mineral retanning method.
    The vegetable tanning process imparts a natural and untreated appearance to the leather. It also lays the foundation for long-term durability. Subsequently, the mineral retanning process is employed to enhance the leather's softness and suppleness. This combination of tanning methods was chosen to optimize the leather's performance in shoe linings, ensuring comfort and longevity.
    It's important to highlight that the inclusion of mineral retanning is crucial for this type of application. Had we relied solely on vegetable tanning, the leather would be stiffer and less ideal for the flexible and supple characteristics required in a shoe lining. This unique blend of tanning processes allows us to strike a harmonious balance between structural integrity and a luxuriously soft feel.
    Thanks again for your invaluable examination and analysis of our Dean Oxfords. Your positive comments mean the world to us.
    Best regards,
    Beckett Simonon

      This is a valid complaint I have of others who have reviewed the product that had been sent in. But bro, I own 2 pairs. I can not stop talking about how comfortable, well made, and nice they look. I love them, as an entry level shoe. Not the end all. Only because they are Blake stitched with a Texon insole. Not what you want from a shoe that you will need to have repaired by a cobbler. So I'm gonna run my shoes into the ground and save up to get Allen Edmonds or Carmias

    • @bobkin611
      @bobkin611 8 месяцев назад +4

      Let me make something clear about the Blake stitch construction. *IT IS NOT A BAD THING!* The problem with it, is that the insole is stitching the welt to the insole and other layers. Your local cobbler *WILL* be able to repair them *NO* problem! But only once, or twice! *BECAUSE* they have a Texon insole (sythetic). *IF* it was leather then your cobbler could just replace the leather insole (once worn out or repaired more than once; this varies) and you can repair them to your hears content. But because the material is synthetic and blake stitched, it creates an issue. But dude, everything else is premium, soft, comfortable, and amazing smelling calf skin leather. *AND* they have a sale right now 319 dollars for 2 pairs! You can not beat that for a hand made, leather shoe.

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge Месяц назад

       a few things to clarify, Blake stitch construction does not have a welt, so the construction is sewn directly through the upper, insole and outsole. 1 stitch, 3 layers. Which has the same limitations as you alluded to because any resoling requires breaking that 1 stitch.
      Replacing the insole of any shoe, welted or Blaked, is quite the activity as it completely dissembles the upper and shape of the shoe. I’d say 90% of cobblers doing resoling jobs are not changing the insole, midsole or welt (when present) but rather breaking the outsole stitch and replacing the outsole.
      Either way, Blake, Blake rapid, GYW and Handwelted are all traditional shoemaking methods with ideal uses. There are benefits to the more intricate techniques but for the broader consumer, bare minimum should be using a Blake construction and ideally should get a GYW shoe for the longevity of repairability.

    I have a pair of dress shoes, a pair of boots and three pairs of sneakers (as I type this, I'm waiting on a fourth pair), and they are excellent shoes. Great true to size fit (I'm a 10.5D on a Brannock device, but you wouldn't believe how widely different brands fit - I'm an 11 in some and a 9.5 in others). Great leather, top-tier craftsmanship, amazing customer service, and I love the signed cards that their staff include with each order.

    My shoe box came in as a dark Olive color. They must have changed it in the past months or so. For anyone wondering, yes these shoes are actually amazing. I have owned them for 2 days now and broke one pair in. Incredibly comfortable. but there are cons! 1 Blake stitch with texon which just means it can't really be repaired more than once. and the finish, there are parts under the embordering where you can see the color did not reach. However! both shoes match perfect in color. Honestly it is a must buy for your first real handmade leather shoes! Their sale is still happening $319 USD for 2 shoes. Pretty incredible deal. basically 160 a shoe, and for how much leather you get and how nice they are, and the customer care and support. That's a steal.

    I'm so sorry to not be agree but these are not the best pair of shoes, their leather isn't the best quality, yes they are full grain aham but not the best one, their interior is fully cardboard so how can you say that they are best shoes you ever reviewed? Synthetic heel counter Synthetic toe? Common it sounds weird to me, even cordobes have much more better materials, I know their finishing is the worst but.... don't say they are the best...
