Excellent video. Thank you. Really enjoy your style of presenting. As a visual learner, I benefit from seeing what you are trying to explain.

This is a really informative and effective visual lesson. One of the rare drills you go all the way through the whole stroke keeping focus on just one thing.

Watched this before hitting today. It helped me. I also had a habit of swinging too fast from the takeback (panic!)-through conscious competence I began to replace that with a relaxed swing. Thank you!

Great lesson. So many lessons focus on the finder points that come later in the stroke, but the reality is most rec players struggle with the foundations of being prepared in time. Preparation needs to be focused on and grooved until the problem is solved.

One problem I see people have and I definitely have too every now and then is overthinking. If you have a problem with your forehand, have one thought in your head like “flick your wrist” or “hit it out front”. If you start thinking too much through your whole shot you’ll just slow your racket down and hit it late

Incorporating a new concept can be seriously difficult! That's why we like to start very slowly and progressively

Nice lesson however Ian should address another flaw with this player. The position of the left hand at the contact point is the biggest problem for him. The left hand should be at the breast to shoulder level at contact. Otherwise an inconsistent forehand is the result...

The problem I find is that I can get into a great rhythm on my forehand one day and forget the muscle memory the next :(

Is real tennis ever getting more videos? "Our promise is to always be transparent" then go on a hiatis for a month and a half seems off.

We are a very small team responsible for online coaching programs, in person private coaching and clinics (which are all filmed and edited), two RUclips channels, and customer service. There's no conspiracy, just lots of in person coaching right now.
