The best coach on RUclips in my opinion. I've watched thousands of tennis instructional videos and have been very disappointed with most explanations regarding the fundamentals of the stroke. Patrick teaches the relevance of the hand/speed and function to the stroke. How many other coaches talk about this?

The best thing I learned from this video is that your "preparation" should be done and you should be ready to hit by the time the ball bounces.

I really liked this girl, Lauren was it? She had great shots, a lot of power for a small person, a la Henin, and she took instruction well. She also looked like she wanted to take the net often. I'm wondering, what was her record, how did she do ranking-wise?

Actually the opposite!!! The later you prepare, the more the ball pushes you back….which decreases forward momentum. This makes you have to exert more effort to return shots

Physics lesson for Patrick. The earlier you hit the ball off the bounce, the more energy the ball has. You have to pick you moments, even The great Roger Federer knows this. Trying to do it all the time is a recipe for disaster. Second it only a illusion that you can hold the ball on your strings for any longer than the fraction of a second during your stroke. Make for great commentary though.
