    ive been strugglign with my forehand for over10 years. I can hit the shot... but it always breaks down in a game, especially when i lose confidence. Just as Patrick mentions... when the ball bounces, I am not ready to accelerate at all... always still pulling back... Thank you for this lesson

      I feel with you - having similar topics... the challenge is to get rid of the wrong motions the brain knows for many years - it would be easier to learn from scratch.

      i have power on forehand, ex : when u make volley ? u have power too, in serve return too, the power = legs dynamic that all.

    id like to add to keep track of the rhythm in your mind or even loudly during trainig sessions:
    1 - ball comes flying PREPARE
    and - ball bounces START ACCELERATING
    2 - hit the ball
    and - back to the middle.
    1 and 2 and... like a beat.

    If she brought in her racquet more towards her body during the unit turn , specifically during the first quarter of the unit turn , the racquet gets away a bit too far , she loses time here on the forehand causing the lateness .
    If you see closely , she starts the unit turn but the racquet kinda hangs out in front and to the side of her too long and then she makes the move to complete the unit turn but it’s too late . Her body is ok on the unit turn but racquet isn’t in sync .

    interesting that he corrects her preparation over and over, but she still keeps doing the same thing

  • @NamesAreRandom

    I struggle with preparing early enough so that was a lesson for me. That said she still didn't get it, even after all the coaching you could see it was the sound of the ball bouncing that got her to pull her racket back that last bit. That I suspect is me - fine with a ball machine but doesn't work if the ball is hit harder.

    What does BODY goes through mean?

    • @ale.tuccit
      @ale.tuccit 2 года назад +3

      It means that when u hit the ball you have to move forward with the body and put weight on the ball, so not using only the arm

    • @Chris_Sheridan
      @Chris_Sheridan 2 года назад

      @@ale.tuccit Why should a player 'put weight' on a ball?
      Are you suggesting that heavier players have an advantage over smaller, lighter players? FYI - a person's body weight is irrelevant in tennis - the fact is that the upper body rotation is the driver for the arm swing.
      Patrick's notion of the 'body' going through is meaningless - the physics of racquet-ball impact is determined by the inertia of the racquet swing - the racquet mass delivers energy to the ball via the strings - the player's body mass has nothing to do with it.
      Note how PM contradicts himself - after saying go through with the body, he later says just play with the hand, inferring that only the arm swing is important. He never mentions hip or trunk rotation which other coaches do with reference to top pro players such as Federer.
      Patrick Mouratoglou is a fake coach - I've never seen him hitting with a professional player and there are no matches anywhere online showing his ability to play competitive tennis. So where does he get all his tennis tips from - what exactly are his coaching qualifications?
      PM is all talk and no substance, just like Bolletieri.

    • @ale.tuccit
      @ale.tuccit 2 года назад +1

      @@Chris_Sheridan no, I didn't mean that heavier players have advantages or disadvantages, I didn't express myself well.
      and yes, the rotation of the body and especially of the leg that passes from back to front is extremely important.
      About Patrick personally i don't agree, he is always very clear with his explanations

    • @justulistories5509
      @justulistories5509 2 года назад

      @@Chris_Sheridan what the hell are you talking? If a player would just play with the Power of his Hand or even Arm there would be no chance to have this acceleration + control. The upper body Rotation is just one Part of the kinetic chain. It doesnt work without the transfer of body weight towards the Ball. Using your Arm only is old school together with Continental grip or stuff like that. Outdated af. The weight of the Player doesnt matter because its not for Power but for control. To control the Power that is given by the loose hand and of course the rotation
