You beat me to own dream!! Lol!😂 Forested acreage with a tiny house is the goal that I am currently working towards. It is absolutely amazing that I ran across your channel right now. I've been doing lots of planning & research but seeing yours really pumps up my excitement level. Your place is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing the process. Enjoy your new home in paradise!!!💕💕💕
Your son in- law is such a wonderful young man! He has literally brought tears to my eyes! What a labor of love he has done for you. I’m sure you love him so much🤗
Fun to watch it come together. I'm living in a construction zone too so I feel your pain, but I also feel your excitement every time some little thing gets finished.
Its looking good!! Love the shower. Probably the nicest shower I’ve seen in a shed to house. Can’t wait to see it when it’s done. My wife and I are thinking about physically building our own smaller house.
New to your channel and really appreciate that you expressed your frustrations, yet always with a positive mindset. Also, thanks for detailing costs and unexpected hiccups and delays. Wow, all the things I had not / did not know. Will be purchasing land soon and similar set up with a converted barn, shed or "tiny" home to live in. Thank you for this educational moment and excited to continue your journey and see the final reveal. Your location and home look amazing, and how blessed to have support/help from family 💙.
I love your shed to house!! Love your land and am grateful you're showing all that you're going thru to complete your home. This is something I've thought about but where I live I'm not certain it would be the best move. I'm enjoying watching your adventure and seeing your plans come together even thru those "waiting" times. Admire your patience. (Love your dog too!) 😊
Same here, it’s very loud and I tried closed caption by that’s not accurate. Edit: The music is only loud in the first five minutes afterwards there’s no problem hearing her talk. 😊
OMG! Happy Anniversary! I love this video so much! The fact that you shared with us the breakdown in costs for every project/step is helpful and encouraging. It gives me a sneak peek at what preparations I will need for my property. I really love the music that is playing as we watch the grand entrance of your beautiful shed. Wow! For a moment I felt as if I were the one receiving my new home! What an epic video and God Bless you and your family! Thank you for sharing it with us!❤❤❤
Looks great. I am going to be doing a “tiny home” shed conversion home soon. Glad you included the prices on stuff and shared the frustrations of doing this. I am excited to order my building after this coming winter
Hi there, absolutely! After the soils test, there was too much clay in the soil so they would only approve an aerobic system for that reason. If it was sandy I could have gone with a conventional system. Thanks for the question! 😊
Love watching your progress and what a beautiful setting for your home! I love the shower and was wondering about the marble you added for the walls. Where did you purchase those two panels? Thanks and I hope you’re having a blessed day. Texas girl here. ❤
Hi there! Thanks so much, you're very kind. I got the shower panels from Lowe's. On their site they are called 'Jetcoat 42-in W x 42-in D x 78-in H Carrara White Corner Panel Kit Shower Wall Surround' Not cheap, but I do love them! Wishing you a blessed day as well, neighbor 😊♥️
I just came across your channel and subscribed. I'm trying to help out my single mother daughter. We're thinking of shed also. How much did it cost you altogether, I'm trying to save up for it. Thank you very much.
Hi there! Welcome to the channel 😊 The building was 45k, which included basic electric, spray foam insulation, AC unit, windows, doors, delivery, and set up. I don't have a total because mine isn't done but it all depends on what kind of finishes you want, really. I hope that helps! ❤️
Mini may call it a shed but in today's world it's a house for these are the same materials and structure they are using in three to four hundred dollar homes only difference is on a concrete slab and many times what is hidden behind stucco. 🌄🦍☮️
Congratulations! Well, first off ... did it come with any electrical? Need electricity to work inside of it. Plan, plan, and plan some more where you want everything so you know where your electrical outlets need to be, then add a few extra because you can't have too many outlets but you can have too few! I needed to move in my as quickly as I could, so we got the electric done and the walls up, and then did the plumbing so I could move into it unfinished. Best of luck to you! Let me know if you have any other questions I may be able to help with. 😊
I did a 12 X 40 5 years ago. Put plastic down under your shed first especially if you skirt it. The moisture will create mold in your house. If you spray foam the bottom that will help also. Try not to put a lot of stuff in the house before the walls are finished & painted as you’ll have to move it several times & the dust will get on & in everything.
The building was $45K, which included spray foam insulation, the exterior doors, basic wiring and porch lights, delivery, and set up. Hope that helps! 😊
The electric package was $700, and thats 2 exterior lights and 4 outlets if I remember right. And then they charge per outlet and per light after that, I don't recall how much each.
That's the plan for spring. Unfortunately, it wasn't an option through the builder and I thought the PTAC would be okay, but after the summer we just had, I'm definitely going to save up for a mini split! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Thanks for putting this video together. I really appreciate the price breakdown you included with each item that was needed. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! 🙂

It looks great. Unfortunately I can't hear what you are saying because of how loud the music is.
I can hear it fine & my hearing isn’t that great.

Your getting there ! Good things take time !
I subscribed. It reminded me of our days moving onto our land many years ago.
Thank you, and welcome 😊

You will be planning your garden and the house will be done real soon.
I love watching the progress on your shed to house conversion. It’s looking good so far.🌻
Thank you so much! ❤️
Honey I worked for the blue box store and they seldom ever get anything right the first time.
The struggle is real LOL
I purchased a Dirksens shed and converted it also.
That's awesome! How big is yours? Any tips for me? 😊
Just found your channel....hugs
Welcome!! ❤️
Girl i heard you s as y southeast texas! We are in hardin county.
Hey, that's like 2 counties over!
Music is so loud I could barely hear you, but it looks awesome.
sorry about that, I'm not very good at this LOL
WOWWW...YOUR SON-IN-LAW WORKS CONSTRUCTION OR JUST A JACK OF ALL TRADES?
Yes and yes, LOL! He's a carpenter but can do pretty much anything 😊
Great video. May I ask what was the reason for an aerobic septic?
Hi there, absolutely! After the soils test, there was too much clay in the soil so they would only approve an aerobic system for that reason. If it was sandy I could have gone with a conventional system. Thanks for the question! 😊

I’m going to need your son-n-law Tyler’s email to get info to send a him bottle of bourbon for his hard work to keep his wife’s mother happy!!
Lol great comment! I will show him this! 😁👍
What state are you in? I did the same thing in Tennessee 5 years ago.
I'm in southeast Texas

Turn the music off I couldn't hear you. Beautiful home

Exactly!
So my tiny home project started today the shed has been set what are something you would recommend for a 16x40

Where are you located? That seems like a lot of permits for a rural location.
Texas. I had to get permits for driveway culvert and septic.
I’m from Southeast Texas. I’m doing a “shed instead” also. What company did you get your shed from?
Hey there, good for you! My shed came from the Derksen factory in Woodville.
Shoulda got a minisplit
Yep, I'm going to be looking into mini splits between now and next summer, for sure!
So im just curious ,why your attempting the tape and mudding yourself ?
Because money LOL, I can't afford to hire it out. 😊
What state are you building your homestead?
Hi there! I'm in southeast Texas. 😊
Are you gonna do a voice over after a minute 3 I can't hear you i just hear loud music
So sorry about that, I've been trying to fix it. Will keep trying. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!
No need to pay $150 per tree to remove them. You can easily do that yourself... and SAFELY.
I wish I could've!
HOW MUCH IS IT
The building was $45K, which included spray foam insulation, the exterior doors, basic wiring and porch lights, delivery, and set up. Hope that helps! 😊
Did you have any issues getting permits?
The only permits I had to get here in my county were for the driveway/culvert and for the septic system. Thankfully! 😊
Is it me or does the foam installation look very shallow? Doesn't look half filled in between the boards. 😢
It's not half filled. I don't know ... that's how Derksen did it 🤷♀️
Thanks for watching! ❤️
How much was the electrical upgrade?
The electric package was $700, and thats 2 exterior lights and 4 outlets if I remember right. And then they charge per outlet and per light after that, I don't recall how much each.
@@a.shed.instead Thank you!
I couldn't hear a thing for alot of video..the music overwhelmed it..wish I could have heard the whole think
Sorry about that, youtube put a copyright claim on it and then laid very loud music on top as a fix. 😥
Only had an issue during the August 2022 clip myself so far I'm at Jan. 2023
How did you get your shed to be under residential coding ?
I'm outside city limits, there's no zoning. 🙂
Many counties in Texas do not have building and zoning codes outside city limits.
Where about in Texas are you located
Southeast Texas, near Houston 😊
I hope you're doing well and you're getting everything setup I have a place in Jasper Texas I have a Durkin shed also
Nice! Is yours all done?
Total price? Maybe I missed it.
The building was $44k, I don't have a total price yet because it's not finished. 😊
Oh No! Hire a different electrician. This is so dangerous. 😮😮😮
I did !
@@a.shed.instead Good.😊
seems like everytime you turn around...it's costing $2000-$4000 and you haven't bought groceries yet.
Ain't it the truth!
really liked the video but omg the dog whining! great job otherwise!
Can't hear what you're saying
You should have used "mini split" a/c heat units
That's the plan for spring. Unfortunately, it wasn't an option through the builder and I thought the PTAC would be okay, but after the summer we just had, I'm definitely going to save up for a mini split! Thanks for watching! ❤️
