    Replacing the oil pressure sensor was relatively easy (usual tight spots and leaning over a fender aside). Let me know what other projects or repairs I could share for the Gen4 Dodge Ram.

    Would this issue cause the engine to shut down ?

    • @motofixr
      @motofixr  День назад

      It could. I'm not sure if the ECU flagging the code alone would shut down the truck. However, the truck may shut down if there is actually low oil pressure or a lack of oil (that could be bad). If you are getting a low or high pressure reading, get it checked out and repaired.

    I got the same code and I switched the switch and replaced the oil and drove ok but still overheating and then pressure dropped to zero and over heated

      @motofixr  7 месяцев назад +1

      Overheating may be a different issue. The codes direct your attention to an issue that is wrong. Fixing the oil sensor may not address an overheating issue with the vehicles cooling system. I'd check your cooling system (fluid levels, thermostat, hoses/leaks, water pump, etc.). Also, check to see if you are getting water in your oil (look for a milky substance in the oil) that may indicate a head gasket leak (water into your oil). Good luck.

    Good video but I noticed you were about to put in 5w-30 oil when 5w-20 is recomended. lmk whats up.

      Honestly, I bought the wrong oil at the auto parts store so I used it for the video shot I was taking. I corrected it later. Good catch.

    I JUST changed my oil yesterday and forgot to do the sensor swap smh….do you think it’s possible to change this sensor without oil leaking all the way out?

    • @motofixr
      @motofixr  5 месяцев назад +1

      It may be possible, but you'll definitely lose some oil (not sure how much). You'd have to try and swap the old/new sensors quickly by removing the old one and immediately inserting the new one (at least partially into the mounting hole). I've never done it that way so I wouldn't recommend it.

      @@motofixr thank you for the reply. I’ll probably just drive about 5k and change it early

    I'm getting P0521 and P1524 on aRam 2015 5.7 ...any ideas? Just had my oil changed 1 day ago. Thanks!

    • @motofixr
      @motofixr  2 месяца назад

      PO521 is the oil pressure sensor. P1524 is the oil pressure sensor/camshaft advance. There could be an number of issues to address that just changing the oil is not likely to correct. Does the truck crank and start? If you clear the codes with an OBDII reader, do the error codes come back? Have you cleaned the engine oil with a a motor flush (STP, Motor Medic, Lucas Oil, etc.). Have you checked your oil pressure? You can try a few low cost options mentioned then move on to other items (oil pressure sensor replacement). However, the P1524 needs a diagnosis by a pro to avoid damage in case you have an issue with internal components, oil restrictions, camshaft issues, etc. Hope that helps.

    Hey man, I have the same code. Would it cause the truck to crank but not start? Any help would be great. Thank you

    • @motofixr
      @motofixr  8 месяцев назад

      The sensor codes should only throw if there is something relate to a faulty sensor or low oil pressure. I doubt it would cause a crank-no-start. Sorry for the delayed response as I did not see the notification of your comment.

    So on my 012, Ram 5.7, my lightening bolt keeps coming on and the moter dies down at about 30 mph. Tracking it down to a bad Throttle body, my mechanic cannot get a error reading on it even after keeping it a driving it home. Another friend mechanic, got a reading and looks like the Oil switch or sensor may be bad. He claims if the sensors or switch is bad or "faulting" it sends a signal to shut the motor down, similair to these generators and welders and such. Despite the Lightening bolt Warning light, but no signal error pointing to the throttle body (which I replacd at first but still get the problem) -he may be right. I was looking for any one talking about this - if this helps anyone?

      Did you replace the oil pressure sensor to see if that cleared up the issue?

      @@motofixr Your'e not going to believe this. It was the . Evidently the computer sensed the brakes were trying to be applied so it will not allow the acceleration to work at the same time. I could not pinpoint when the warning came on, somewhere around 30 -40mph, let off gas, took half minute or so to correct then might do it again later......
