Anycubic Kobra Max UI dark screen update using a 3rd party developer file
here is the link to the github website for this firmware, it provides a simple step by step guide.. ensure to follow this exactly as described.

Installing the modded UI firmware
Download and unzip.
Unzip the DWIN_SET folder at the root of your SD card (make sure to use a reliable SD card, the one shipped with the printer is not), do not put anything else but this folder, if you had the old folder from the official firmware, remove it before
Turn off your printer put the SD card under the screen, not in the printer the body. Make sure to leave it unplugged for 10 - 20 seconds to make sure the caps can discharge
Turn on your printer and wait until you see SD card Process... END ! on the second line, do NOT turn off the printer before this line appears. The process shoudn't take more than 5 minutes unless your SD card is broken or very slow
Make sure the number next to .BIN Files shows 003 and the number next to .ICL Files 001
Turn off your printer, remove the SD card
Done, you can turn it on

As an extra note: make sure its the _MACOSX (folder) and the DWIN_SET (Folder) at the top level of the SD Card. Not the folder above that DWIN_SET that holds both those folders beneath it or it will not work, now works that I did that.

Also: SD Card needs to be formated in FAT32 and allocation size needs to be 4096 bytes
Still wont work... all files are at 000 ?!

Very neat, hopefully someone soon can figure out how to stop or turn down that awfully shrill boot up tune. Though I suspect it's a tiny little buzzer inside the main body.
You can theoretically create a custom firmware for that. Ik that a custom fw for the normal kobra already exists but idk abt the kobra max

It’s inside the screen actually and you could desolder or pull it out if you wanted. OR hot glue drop right in the middle has worked for me when I’ve muted buzzers in the past.
there is in the main firmware a "song player" and it contains the boot tune, you could change it to just a single beep, a short one, if you liked.
Installed today, looks so much better.

Ive downloaded the DWIN_SET folder and unzipped it the the root of the SD Card, however when i switch on, the screen turns blue (as expected) but the files runs so fast and show 000 on all of them and fails to update?? any one got any ideas (i formatted my SD Card to EXfat32 (4096 allocation space) and running 2.8.6 firmware
I believe you need too update the screen firmware to 2.8.7 first
I was having issues and it was cause I was using a large micro sd formatted to fat32. I switched to a small one and it worked no problem.

just installed . much better .always didn't like the print icon like it was a paper printer . so do like the new ui
So I jsut tried this and it appears the UI will not update? Could be a version issue with the latest update from Anykubic?
Wish they'd add the ability to adjust the flow during the print.
FIRST OF ALL DAM GOOD UP GRADE And it Dose Work For The AnyCubic Kobra Plus and yes you can use the sd card it came with just re copy all the files in there back on to the sd card it works after you re format the card

a little off topic, but i use octoprint and rarely touch the UI. is it ok to unplug it or is there "screen savers" for the UI?
I have upgraded Kobra plus. The UI looks great as per video. The issue that i'm facing is that occusionaly the screen commands do not respond and i have to restart the Printer. Some comments also for the firmware as well. a) System Settings -> Language does not function. b) System Settings --> Sounds Disable if pressed the Language button changes the collor. c) It would be great to have scroling on the print file name as it is static in this version (26 characters). Last if we want to revert to the original do we flash the firmaware of the printer or there is a link with the screen firmware ?
In the Anycubic website there should be links for these... that's odd it's not functional correct ad it's perfectly working fine for me
Did you go back to stock or reflash and it was working fine?
I should be able to do this on the Kobra plus as well or do I need to seek a different firmware

This upload process seems a lot like the way a nextion display updates. Does this use a Nextion display? Thanks!
No, it uses a DWIN display. Very similar to a Nextion. One problem is Anycubic is shipping these printers with the TJC screen which does not have an English programmer like Nextion. Nor will this screen upgrade work.
Is there any firmware to get rid of that annoying beeping on startup?

Good morning this update can also be used on the kobra plus model?
I downloaded and unzipped the file to the sd card, but I see that it makes 2 libraries and no files direct in the root- is this how it should be or should I copy the files from the lib. to the root
I belive you add both folders to the sd card nothing else

I had to get a replacement screen and the new one is in Chinese. Support said to update the firmware but I cannot get it to work. I suspect its the SD card size. Can someone comment with a BRAND and SIZE SD card they used that works? Thank You.
I solved the issue. I reformatted the SD card from 4GB to 2GB and it worked. Since I was updating the screen anyway I tried the color update for the Max. It looked like it worked until I turned the printer off and back on. I don't think the Plus can use it.

If you goto anycubic they have the og firmware screen
at 3:47 start to read bin file as in video but only takes a second to read and alll the files are 0's and dont work.
I believe you must make sure the right files are on the card and in the right order
@@3DPUK-TECH-CHANNEL there is only 4 files in the DWIN_SET folder 1. 13 touchfile.bin 2. 14 show file.bin 3. 16_68_ icon lib. 4. 22config.bin files

What files do have to be in the root?
Just the 4x files?

@SABYR0284 so the 2.8.7 is much like og stock nothing improved. The zombie firmware has some issues surrounding the linear advance. I'm going too test a new firmware soon so keep your eyes out for that video

Im fucked up. I did this on my kobra plus and now my screen is stuck in the logo . If anybody has the original files to recover it please let me know. If you have a kobra plus dont even think on make this update because you ended up with a useless printer.
Hey ,sorry to hear this did u add the micro sd card to bottom of screen not main board.??? Also make sire to unpack the files correctly see link in description for process to follow. Hope it works out with the retry, failing that goto anycubic github and they have OG firmware
@@3DPUK-TECH-CHANNEL I did it exactly the way it says on the guide on the description but for some reason it messed up the screen. I tried to flash the screen firmware on the Kobra Max firmware zip file because there's no screen firmware in the firmware zip file for this 3d printer. I dont know how to get the right firmware to flash it from the github page. I don't know what else I can do.

Using wabbitguys firmware yes, the screen update is more cosmetic rather than functional.. check out on Google wabbitguy kobra max firmware

What do you mean by unpack? I unzipped it to the SD card and place it in the slot for the screen like jn the video.

if your having problems format the sd card to 4gb and fat32
if you get it working but theirs no text on the display downgrade the screen firmware and re-do it and it should work :D
