7:34 “Castling may have been the safer move”
- Eric Rosen, who sacked the queen earlier for two minor pieces
I am definitely a noob at chess, but today I had a game where I sac'd the queen to win a bishop and a knight and because of this move I later had the open diagonals around the enemy king and developed rooks first as black. In the end I blundered the mate move cause I had 10 sec left on the clock. But I checked for the correct move and it was indeed a mate. Oh and also because he took my queen with his own queen across the board she got stuck in a corner and never left it afterwards. :D

It should be called the Aquaman fork

This Englund gambit sacrifice is TOO STRONG
“So this position is technically +3 for white
Lol yep. On move 1 the eval bar for stockfish goes from 0.0 after white plays D4 straight into +1.7 after black plays E4 so you already know it's a great opening.

Man I love Eric Rosen, I think his approach to the game is a lot of fun. For a mere mortal who is not aiming to achieve any fancy titles but play chess exclusively for fun, I find him to be the best source for discovering fun and perhaps a bit arcane ways to play chess. That is in no way to diminish his qualifications to teach serious chess for players who are attempting to become titled players. But yeah, I appreciate the hell out of him and his content.
Wow he checks comments... literally hearted in 15mins

Oh boy can't wait to see this trap in literally every game I play for the next week
What rating are you by the way?
Its old. Just dont move your bishop out.
Also if you get in that situation, you wanna go Rb3
Trap doesn't work.. rook takes bishop behind the queen. 😎

Sometimes I just put Eric on for sound when I go to sleep and try to visualize the moves and count queen sacrifices instead of sheep, it works..
His opponent really said oh no my king
Eric i love how chill and calm you sound. It's like chess + ASMR. And it's 3am right now and i loved your peaceful commentary and game.
4:25 "Sometimes you have to do bad things to have fun"... that is very dangerous advice.
Not really, if you are performing open heart surgery on a kid for example, it would be really hard to have fun without doing something bad. I challenge you to find me a way to do it.
Finally some 10 minutes instructive games! Feels like years ago.
Very instructive thanks for sharing Eric
I'm here because of the thumbnail

I can really see this opening being invented by someone who missed that after Bxc3+ you can block with knight and who just thought they were winning a piece

Don't know who you are, don't know why I'm here, haven't played chess in probably 30 years.
Found this incredibly interesting, soothing and calming voice, thought process behind each or potential move.
Have subbed and look forward to watching more videos 👍👍
Can you please make a video showing the traps and theory around the Englund Gambit! Would be really nice since not much is available on youtube about the opening.
I got so tired of seeing the Englund in blitz that I made a point of sitting down and learning the lines. Now I look forward to seeing it and banging out the responses to it so fast that the Englund player gets disturbed and slows down.
It's awesome to see it when you know the lines because you're immediately better if not close to winning as white.
I really enjoy your calm demeanor under time pressure !!!
Amazing video, as always. Thank you Eric! What do you think is the best move if white plays Rb3 instead of pawn e4?
I like your sort of beat around the bush way of attacking critical spots, favoring setup over direct attack
That thumbnail belongs in a museum.
Plays objectively bad openings against people who have no idea to refute = stonks
Edit: Aman and Rosen roommates? What world is this
Eric has been living in the chessbrah apartment in St Louis since April 2019, if I'm not mistaken.
@@leadnitrate2194 yeah
It’s honestly not a bad opening against lower rated players. I absolutely loved this opening from around 1000-1400. I still play it from time to time as a 1700. Definitely very underrated
Is this real? He tweeted he was moving in with Chessbrah on April 1st 2019 so I assumed it was a joke
@@adammcquade3139 It is real. Heard Eric confirm it another video.
Eric, love your videos. Would you consider increasing the volume you record/export in? The ads are like 10x louder than your audio

eric really flexing on us in the thumbnail 😤😤
I play the french pretty much exclusively but you make me want to drop everything and just learn all the trappy gambits
I don't know why but it's so easy to chill watching this dude. His voice is just so calm!!!
Saw the thumbnail, I this the Aman Unbeatable opening variation?
Edit: hell yeah it is
There's a nice trick after 4.Qb4+ white can play Nc3 with an "oh no my bishop" and if black takes on f4 white can play Nd5 with a fork on the queen and c7 pawn.
Hi Eric. Can you suggest a gambit or any aggressive attack against 1. c4?
"Sometimes you have to do bad things to have fun" - Eric Rosen 2021
4:32 That was the most legendary pronounciation of *Oh no my Queen* ever.
On which website do you play chess and how to check out the grandmasters games or old games that reached the same position as of ours???
Eric: I would like to Play the move A,

Always.
Haha LoL.
10:32 what about be6 and next move hitting the rook and the queen when ke3?
I LOL'd when he said "or triceratops" 🤣
It has always been my dream to play with Eric
10+5 is really nice I love to play it! I need to calculate some times and since I don't really know theory much and can't really see sacrifices that easily it's a sweet spot of thought and intuition for me.
2:45 Triceps bro. It's a triceps arm bar. You caught him in a triceps arm bar
Need to start working on those 💪
Can you give us full lecture about this gambit please
as always, the thumbnail never disappoints.
Huge respect to Aman for bringing this unbeatable variation in Englund Gambit.
I have a line for you move 7. When Qc3 white moves Rxb4 takes bishop. You remove the defender on the queen so bishop can take without loss of your queen and ends with the knight under threat instead. It evens the baord
Absolutely brilliant to watch someones mind work and how calm he stays right through out I do have one question though the early part of the game seems reliant on him pinning the knight why doesn't white play rb3 ?
The way Eric pronounces the recent sub at 8:11
Hi Eric what chess ♟ software are you using and how to get the use of planned arrows to show pre move outcomes with arrows pre move ??
Lichess
Your videos never disappoint good sir
"Sometimes you have to do bad things to have fun" LMAO
This man technically shares an apartment with a guy he hasn’t seen in over a year. Wut the heck is that?
Maybe that theirs a global pandemic, but idk
The crazy thing is that he's just in the other room. Some serious introverts! 🤣
Thanks Eric
You said bishop d2 was probably the best move, but isn't knight c3 better, because after queen captures bishop there is knight d5 with an attack on the queen and after the queen moves to e4 or smth, the knight just takes on c7 with a fork on the rook? It seems the engine also suggests this.
I can't even begin to imagine the energy in the Hambleton-Rosen apartment
Hey man, has every move been a threat or capture?
The thumbnail yooooo
15:27 wasn’t Nd6 better since it stops the queens check while threatening forced mate with Nf6+, Ka3, Ra4#?
Ooooh yellow arrow in the thumbnail. That's gotta be a novelty
2:57 the best move here is actually to knight to c3, giving up the bishop, if black takes, you can fork his queen with the c2 pon and win the rook
No, it’s not actually. In the queen sacrifice position white has +3 advantage, but if you give up your bishop for the rook huge advantage will be gone
Thats the calmest ass whooping ever.
Love your games bro
what do u think about bishop c6 at 11:00
My goodness Eric the last time I was this early is when i was still in prep school
Can someone explain why at 17:46 white didn’t go king h1 instead of sacrificing the queen, it doesn’t seem like there is a way to checkmate white from that position
I just played a game with this strat and I see this.
_I feel blessed_
Can you put more content on Stafford gambit
Can someone please explain to me if you would play bishop c4 at 15:23? And if not, why?
I went to play after watching this video and I was so excited when my opponent fell for it lol. Very nice opening 👍
I don’t know why but Englund gambit never works on me when my opponent puts the pawn on E4 and I move me pawn to D4 he just puts the pawn on F2 to F3
What about Rxc3 at 11:16, threatening Qa1 after?

Damn Eric, what a thumbnail!
I once got 4 minor pieces for my queen. I allowed my opponent to take my queen b/c I had a forced line where we would end up trading queens and two pieces. But my opponent got greedy and thought he could keep his queen so I wound up trading my queen for all of his bishops and knights. He resigned two moves later.
4:40 is there something wrong with rook takes bishop here?
"Three tined fork"
You have such a monotone voice so when you say something funny like "so much icing" I fall off my chair. I died. Love your videos. Very instructional.
