When Eric is playing cam usually says something like "GM Eric Hansen" but whenever this guy's playing it just says " A man". Could at least mention his name too, he's a great player! Seems pretty disrespectful! .. ;) Great video, might have to try the Englund gambit, love your content Aman, keep it up!
it's definitely a fun gambit to play. as you have seen, the queen just goes for that rook, threatening an endless amount of stuff such as checkmates, unless opponent knows theory.
That’s because around 30% of games at 1200 level are Englund gambits, played by people trying for the easy queen win courtesy of Eric Rosen. Or just fuelled by this kind of thing.
@@crushedscouter9522 It doesn't matter. You will see everything in online blitz--even at a 2600 level. If you're not prepared you will get into trouble.
really +9? I think the idea was nb8 trapping the queen. his opponent just scared he would lost the queen, even im scared but too lazy to actually calculate lol. edit: actually no i looked at the position again. i think he just scared of qxb2 attacking everything, it actually does look crushing, but if engine says +9 then it's +9 i guess
Great games ! yes you Aman and gotham inspired me to play this opening thanks ! Even got the mate on c1 with the queen once. I like when it transposes into a reversed Alekhine or reversed French.
6:24 he should have taken at a8. Then when Nb8 white plays Nc4 it's a deadly move. They trade queens and white is up material. But white got cold feet and chickened out!
@@JamesSmith-rs4iu That doesn't work. After the knight blocks, white plays Nc4 which forces black to retreat his queen to a2 and trade it with white, after which black is just completely lost.

@@Omar_Merican Well the engine might find strange moves there. But after Qxa1 block it with the knight and the queen will remain trapped in the corner. Then maneuver your bishop
Everybody is asking why white didn’t take the rook at 6:27 I’m trying to work out why rook b8 from black one move before doesn’t trap the queen??? I feel like the queen trade was totally unnecessary.
After 6.bc3 white is lost, not even naroditsky could hold that position, stockfish gives -6, if white plays accurately after qxb2 then they will have an advantage, but the move played in the video is losing
I think because if he takes the rook he will also have to take the other rook or his queen will be hanging, then black queen to b2 looks very dangerous, maybe theres a forced mate after that (id guess there must be and thats why he didnt take)
it's just blitz if he takes the rook Nb8 looks scary but you have many ways of rescuing the queen and if black doesn't play Nb8 it's just lost for black
@@MurrayHerts no his queen would not be hanging. After white captures the rook on a8 the best move for black is Nb8 and then there’s a tricky move for white with Nc4 and the pawn cannot take because then Rd8 is winning
@@MurrayHerts it’s tough to see and workout in a blitz game, like selfish said, that’s why he just simplified things and took the queen. I didn’t even realize until I took some time to think about it. But these guys take 5 seconds to realize these positions.
