      I can't stand when people resign, a lot of the time. If your opponent has an imminent mate then let them execute it, don't ruin the fun by resigning. If you made a blunder in the first ten moves just keep playing and try to turn it around, don't resign.

    • @speedstyle.
      @speedstyle. 4 года назад +70

      @@amaryllis0 Depends on the game. If it's an actual endgame, and you're just playing it out in hope of a stalemate or flag, that's a bit disrespectful. If you're about to be mated by some nice positioning then yeah it's nice to give them the ending.

    • @amaryllis0
      @amaryllis0 4 года назад +30

      @@speedstyle. I personally dislike cheesing it so your opponent flags despite having a winning position, but I wouldn't say it's always bad, because time management is an important skill too.
      I don't agree that it's disrespectful to play for stalemate. If you resign here, you're cutting out an important part of the game - checkmate, especially piece mates - and allowing your opponent to not have to learn and practice it
      At GM level, sure it's disrespectful, but at amateur level? Nah

    • @speedstyle.
      @speedstyle. 4 года назад +9

      @@amaryllis0 Yeah I personally go all the way because I'm like 1000 (there's a 50-50 chance that they do stalemate). But at a higher level I think it could be a little disrespectful. Flagging less so, winning on time is fair enough.

    Once there was a person. No one knew this person until a king made him popular after finding out his abilities.
    The person went on to change into a chess form called "Stafford Gambit".
    And the king was Eric.

    its not just castling queenside with mate, its also unpinning the queen from the kind, while she is still being attacked by a pawn and a rook, and the pawn en passent beforehand

  • @attune347

    In the position at 5:34, there is a fun line (haven't checked with an engine though) instead of taking on e2 playing b5+, Kxc5 Qg5+, and if Kb4 (Kxc6 Bxe4X) then a5+ Kb3 (Kc3 ends in the same way but quicker after Qc5+) a4+ Ka3 b4+ Kxb4 Qb5+ Kc3 Qc5+ Kd3 Bh5+ Ng3 O-O-OX. It would be a fun exercise to try to find in that position a way to force mate with O-O-O, but I haven't found a way. For example in this line, if you take on c6, or if you go Ka3 instead of Kb3 or Kc3, there is a quick mate, but no way to force a mate with O-O-O, I think.

    I feel like there's a whole new genre of chess in the era of the internet: Meme Chess, where you just try to make the most ridiculous plays-just because you can. I happened to see the en-passant with mate video yesterday, and now the Algorithm shows me this! I can't get enough!
