But there is a poetic beauty in keep the calm, dodge all the threats, block all the attacks, then suddenly counter-play and mate.

Its not an Alien gambit and its not new!
I have played this opening for over 20 years including many correspondence games!
Also beginning of December 2023 I did beat 2 CMs in over the board games with this. Both games happened in Latvian team championship, one in Rapid another in blitz.
Rapid game was also published on Facebook by tournament arbiter.
Additional info - even your opponent has stolen my idea - he missed to demonstrate to you even the main strategic idea why I am playing the opening this way and why the piece is scarified.
Additionally - the streamer whom you mentioned also does not know how to contribute the author because obviously by his age he can't be an author to this.
I first invented this sacrifice in late 199ties in my correspondence games and used it to trick opponents who used computers because engines of that time could not correctly asses long term positional plans that white have here.
I still play it in blitz and rapid games, but as I am not playing this in correspondence anymore - I stopped hiding it and for about last 3-4 years I play it on lichess and other online platforms often - so it got popular and got stolen and named Alien gambit - I am not alien - I am Vairis from Latvia and I play it for over 20 years!

what a cool game! the Alien is wild. And a nice Q sac by Eric to win it and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

sometimes I sit here yelling at the screen; do it... DO IT! Move the horse...and finally after wasting 2 minutes on the clock... yes, he sees it.

i have direct experience of this line from the black side. there is one player who plays it against me in hyper and has a really good record against me. I know the computer says it's good for black but it's extremely tricky to play. I feel at least partially vindicated when I see that even Eric Rosen struggled against it. Really nice queen sack to mate at the end though.

Question. Can you only play Alien Gambit against the Caro Kann? I really do not think this would work against other openings...I could be wrong though. I watched a video on Facebook saying that you can use it against any opening but they did not explain how. & Great video!

As a parttime carokann player, people have been playing this exactly with these lines and ideas for ages on constant basis in online chess. Obviously, highly dubious knight sacking is first playful instinct any chess player has, and in blitz 50% in two knights variation go for this. Any next move is pretty much only logical move.
