He's a GM because he kept learning.
Yup. Notice how he actually wants to learn about where he went wrong.
😳
hes a GM because he drinks water from a wine glass.
I love his reactions

You have to bring this GM back, such a cool humble dude.
Ye he's great he also gave Hafu a lesson during Pogchamps, very instructive

I love how the two of you analysed this together.
Apparently, they had a match and they analysed most of the games afterwards. Very nice of the GM
We get so much more insight hearing both perspectives, especially from players of this level

Keep bringing this guy on. He’s awesome! No ego, and super smart, it adds a lot to the conversation.
I was amazed how humble ficorrales is. I would have been so tilted losing to someone with lower title and higher rating in a tricky gambit. But he kept his cool and just wanted to learn. Hence he's GM and I'm
Dude, ur so fkin right. Not gonna name names but there are GMs that really anger me with their egos

Petition to rename the Stafford to the "Rosen Gambit"
Seriously tho 💯
maybe the other way around, Eric Stafford Rosen
Seconded
Stafford-Rosen gambit. Rosen has to win in a real OTB blitz tournament if he wants to be immortalized
420 likes... beyond EPIC.
I dont know who stafford is or what he’s doing with his knights but the Rosen gambit is looking lethal

"This is my livelihood. Just playing tricky openings, watching people suffer." - IM Eric Rosen, 2020
I've never heard of ficorrales before, but he is the best chess listener i've ever seen. so engaged and interested in every part of this. what a guy!
mark ruffalo is playing chess now ! cool !
I hear he’s a lovely guy. But has one hell of a temper on him 😕
I was surprised about his real voice
GM Ficorrales is such a nice person!!!
1. Eric traps many GMs with the Stafford.
2. Daniel Naroditsky makes how to bust the Stafford.
3. Jonathan Schrantz makes how beat the London System in 3 different ways.
4. Naroditsky falls for the Englund gambit and loses his queen.
5. Jonathan tries to ban Eric and loses his queen like Naroditsky against Eric.
6. Eric traps many GMs with the Stafford, again!
Nice
When did naro fall for the Englund? Do you have a link?
Except Jonathan is IM

I absolutely love this conversation. Eric's smile while Fidel is calculating is priceless. It's just like Eric says in his Stafford video, he loves letting GM's calculate this position
I love his genuine reactions. What a cool GM.
Wow he took it so well, and then just sat there and studied it with you to learn to avoid it next time, awesome guy
Maybe now you can have people who never learn from people but instead learn from computers but I doubt there is a single grand master who doesn't learn like this on a regular basis (except not while streaming).
I loved the chat at the end, more of this please!
Hey Eric! I just started chess 3-4 months ago, and have drawn almost all my inspiration for chess from you, and just broke 1000 yesterday! I absolutely love your content and wouldn't be where I am right now without you, thanks!
He is quite helpful. Congrats on breaking 1000
1000? For blitz, bullet or rapid?
That's nice, I wanna learn too...how do I go about it?
@@paurush5991 thanks
And then there is me who misses where he wants to put his pieces
Yes of course we would have IM Eric Rosen's Stafford Gambit
only in chess can the winner and loser have a civilised discussion on how to better themselves in the game, and NOT arrogantly brag at each other...
Respect to Eric and GM ficorrales 👍🏼
You COULD do it in games like basketball, but that never happens
It actually does happen in chess but not as often as other games
Gecko Geico it happens every game in NBA what you on about? There has to be one person trash talking because they’re doing good, having fun, or they hate a person on the other team
Its only like this when the right two people play. There are also a lot of sore losers in chess especially among grandmasters.
Kind of a stupid comment I won't lie
Getting the GM title speedrun only using the Stafford Gambit let's go
The videos you have posted with him are great! Agree with everybody else, such a cool and chill guy, and willing to both teach and learn. More please.
I tried this on my grandpa, he didn't take a single pawn I wanted him to, totally blocked me lol
Little did you know he is also watching Eric Rosen!
IM Eric Rosen the trapper of GMs
Trapper of all gms
I tried this opening for my chess teams online meet, my opponent is like the #1 rated scholastic female in the USA (according to my coach). She accepted the Knight, but then she played that h3 d3 line and I couldn't break through and she won an endgame up 2 pawns. She admitted as we analyzed that she studied the line on your video haha. Great minds think alike I suppose.
Hulk by day, chess master by night.
If Professor Hulk played Chess
I've tried Stafford gambit many many times because of you. And I do it whenever I can... but it looks like no one below 1500 falls into these traps meanwhile GMs do 😪
GM Ficorrales is such a nice person!!!
Id say its more that u dont know how to react well and play it well, theres also the fact that u need a lot of luck for 1 to play the first moves as u want otherwise u cant do it
You probably analyze the best moves for the gambit, but below 1500, best moves are rarely played and you then prolly don't know how to take advantage of them the best? I'd suggest going over different lines on your engine.
Love the discussion at the end, very interesting
Amazing display of humility and sportsmanship from you both. Thanks for the analysis.
really awesome to see you guys go over the game afterwards, and the gm is humble as hell.
GM Ficorrales seems like such a cool dude. Always nice to see people like him reach GM levels, and you see exactly why he could reach just from this video alone. Great stuff!
Great opening and super humble GM! Awesome content as always! Congrats from Brazil!
This guy is so cool and positive
I would watch every video in this format. It's short, informative and entertaining. Trap more GMs pleasee. Make this a series.
it's hard enough to trap a GM, let alone have it be one who is willing to do this on the spot.
This guy is awesome. Need to see him more!
Need more of this. Please let corrales know he's am awesome dude.
Opponent never accept the stafford gambit in my case 😭😭
Haha you never faced me then, i like to get destroyed by stafford gambit and leave the game without resigning
@@justsubscribed1323 you're a legend

Even if they accept it, GM Naroditsky made a really good video on how to refute the Stafford. So chances are, they watched it and can defend and keep their extra pawn.
Was stuck at 1100-1200 for ages then I found your chanel and specifically, this gambit, now I am at 1500 on lichess and still win most of my games by total annihilation thanks to you :))

Best lesson to learn from them is the sportsman spirit ... Specially when we find a lot of people leaving the games midway leaving the opponent waiting while playing online 🙄. Attitude is everything 👍. Keep Rocking mates 🤠
Get you a man who looks at you like Eric looks at the Stafford gambit
This guy needs to start streaming or YT channel! So much to offer and super humble about it too
Eric Rosen: Oh no my Rook!
Eric Rosen: Anyways, Bam Barabaap Boom PAW
Been enjoying your opening traps Eric, keep up the good content!
Found a supercool move at 6:38. Instead of g5 Eric could’ve played bishop g1. Such an esthetic move! The idea of course is to cut of the rook from defending h1 so that after bishop g2 check and king captures you can queen without the rook being able to capture.
That wouldn't work because white would play rook to e2 to block bishop g2
Awesome this couple analysis👍😉😊
I learn more things watching a single video from you more than playing chess for a week
I love it when the Stafford works and Eric wins.
I didn’t really enjoy your videos a lot at first but the more I watch the more I enjoy
So educational, many thanks.
259 subs for ficorrales that's criminal. I've watched every stream and video for 2 years and this is my favorite collab
Very good game. I was screaming at the scream. Hard to breathe. Thanks 👍🏽
Eric. I watch your twitch yesterday. What you did with that noob guy was well appreciated. Your patience, your willing, your knowledge.
Keep it up! it raises your rating as a chess master. At least by me. And The begginer and intermediate is what you need to aim at.

This is ASMR chess at its finest. Eric's speech is so pleasant to listen to
I remember watching from ficorrales streaming. He was shocked and upset. Now I get to see it from Rosen's perspective.
Spending more time on the review than the match itself proves a strong passion for the game and strategy, when the desire to gain and share knowledge and skill is just as strong as the desire to compete.
Two passionate chess players engaged in discussion...
fabulous!
i had only played chess naively as a kid before, and randomly decided to give it a try last week. i suck, i got a ~650 rating so far, but just watching you discuss positions and lines makes me want to get good enough at chess to enjoy the full pleasure of all those possibilities and situations.
big smile after that win... GM was in trouble out of the gate...
I think this is probably my favourite chess video ever, and not even for the match itself
Love this!
i was unaware of ficorrales. as gms go, he's quite adaptable. i'm a fan already.
I love the colabs
Hes like a saiyan. You actually just helped him become stronger.
chess is like boxing, brutal, systematic, beautiful, yet sportsmanship is still there
He is probably the nicest GM I have ever seen

Hi Eric I am trying to find the video you did where everyone was giving you facts about a country and you lost in time trouble but you said on the plus side you have learned a lot about that country. It was a funny moment thanks Dominic

Sooooo Beautiful Mr. Rosen!!!!!
Classy, both of you.

Eric’s thinking: “this move is really cool”
Poggers stuff Eric. Real poggers! Nice and poggers pogchamp
GM:you can't beat me
IM Eric Rosen:Yeah let's beat him
6:47 Oh no!! My rook
6:50 Oh noo! My queen, mah b00tiful queen.
You mean king
I love how impressed he is with the stafford lines
I played this for a bit a couple months ago but didnt know the lines and lost too many games,
I eventually came back to it and now I dont even like playing as white
Nice dude my favorite trap is Natalie Mars
Good sportsmanship leads to more learning from opponents rather than hating them and yourself for losing.
Badass mate
Interesting and funny gambit! ...But, in my opinion, the move 5.Nc3 compromises White's play. After: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 Nc6 4Nxc6 dxc6 5.d3! (NOT 5.Nc3), White has nothing to fear. The maneuver Pc2-c3 and Pd3-d4 is imminent, with definitive closure of the diagonal g1-a7.
Thanks!
At 4:00, Pawn can go to h2 Check. White king is forced to move to one of two squares. Then Black bishop to h3 and that will either be check or a threat on the rook. Etc.
Qd6 was my move of choice, as you say, keeping the tension.
My favorite teacher by far.
Eric is like the sherlock holmes of chess
Even before learning the Stafford id never take the pawn then knight, but especially after learning Stafford front and back I'd NEVER play into it as white for this reason. This gm still almost won against Eric though even with 35 mate threats. Impressive
dude is a legend ... he's teaching a gm
Rosen's voice is the most soothing voice ever... 👌👌👌😀😀
