19:58 it's increrible how he's almost not even looking at the board and is talking with the chat and can premove checkmate so fast and easy like that XD
Yeah there's no way. I'm able to beat a 3200 engine when it was down a queen, and I'm only 1500 blitz. I'd say 1800 tops. Unless he starts sacrificing the queen for a piece. Then maybe 2400
"Oh no, my queen" is different. It means that you can't take the queen safely, because there's some tactic that will lose you the game on the spot if you do. Whereas the Botez gambit is just losing your queen for no significant gain.
@@SkylerFallow oh no, sorry for my wording, haha. I actually didn't mean like that. I know about the famous Eric Rosen tricks/ "Oh no my..." . I was actually saying I would have loved that kind of speedrun where you trick instead of Botez Gambit where you just dump your Queen. But like I said whatever, I'd enjoy it anyway, because its Hikaru :D Also I'm not entirely sure if "Oh no my Queen" was popular because of Eric Rosen but I also enjoy his videos so thats why.
@@freeWizard Well, I entirely agree that playing an "Oh no, my queen" speed run, where he tries to play elaborate sacrifices to get wins would be a lot of fun to watch! That said, I think it would be practically very difficult, because those combinations don't exist in every position, but up to 2000 or so rating I reckon Hikaru could pull off something interesting, at least.
@@SkylerFallow yeah agreed, it would be difficult, I mean not saying he couldn't because he's Hikaru but it may not be possible every game, so yeah fair enough.
Hikaru wins 90%+ of his games, so taking on this speedrun and losing to much lower rated players is a real challenge. I respect the pain for content. Also this speedrun is already creating drama on reddit, so that alone is worth it 😂
Ah Botez gambit. The unique opening used by many famous masters and tons of beginners. I would say this is the most popular gambit there is. It's the first thing you learn after the basics of the game.
Bro, I accidentally blundered my queen yesterday, ended up capturing my opponets rook and queen from my blunder. It was so sweet. It made my brain explode.
@@soniablanche5672 Actually more of a discovered attack. Because the intention to sacrifice wasn't there. Therefore it was really just a well recovered position. I could work it in as a sac if I had a great memory.
@10:00 voice sounds different in car speakers probably because car sound systems have quite dramatic eq to account for the engine noise etc. Different spaces also have different responses to different frequencies so the same speakers in a different room or even the a different spot in the same room can sound really different
Botez gambit is actually just giving the queen up for no gain so technically in the first clip we see it isn’t a botez gambit because Hikaru sacs the queen to disrupt blacks position (disabiling castling) and also capturing a pawn
Doesn’t always have to be a straight sac. The further you get you can use it as a tactical sac and try to find some brilliant moves, I’d say temporary sacrifices are still game at the higher levels. Thanks for doing this man I’ve been suggesting it for months
You should sac for a pawn until you lose a game, then you're allowed to sac for knight/bishop until you lose another, then you're allowed to sac for a rook
18:30 - i don't agree, i think Hikaru nailed it with the instant gratification theory. chess heyday in 1400-1700? i feel like it's more mid 19th-mid 20th. and the US had some interest, but I'm guessing it's more of a European thing like soccer. but it can't be just the cultural difference. scientists get praised in Europe, in the US it's movie/music/sports stars
AHAHAHAH I REMEMBER TELLING HIKARU TO DO A "SAC QUEEN EARLY GAME" SPEEDRUN BACK WHEN HE STARTED BONGCLOUD MY WISH HAS FINALLY COME TRUE also, someone should submit one of these games to Levy for GTE, it would be fun to see his reaction

very humble of Hikaru to say he can't do something he has literally done before
