    • @BigAlS4
      @BigAlS4 2 года назад +3

      According to the principles of ELO rating you can calculate the odds of a player like Hikaru winning against the avg 1200 player. He would have a roughly 0.999999964 win rate. Against a 2100 player, he would have a 0.987739137 win rate. It's still surpising that he's doing this well against 2000 rated players.

      I looked at the last 58 games from when oponents rated 1700 something and the stats were 54 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw., Then I use the elo formula to estimate the likelyhood of winning each game against an opponent rated X points lower.
      Confidence interval was a bit more complicated, I rather not try to explain it here. But with only 3 losses there is quite a large degree of uncertainty. But once he starts to loose s little bit more often you can make a more accurate estimate.

      Hikaru just sets them a lot of problems which they can’t solve under time pressure. Try playing stockfish from the kinds of positions Hikaru’s opponents have after the Q sac in these games. Unless you are master level, you’ll probably lose.
