Only issue with that idea is that I doubt he'd be able to get to 3000 with it. MAYBE he could get to 2200 or something (depending on how many wasted moves) but any higher than that and he's going to be way too far behind in development and higher rated opponents will crush him.

It's truly amazing, your point on top level players in any aspect of human endeavor and competition, and their ability to draw our eyeballs to things we aren't neccessarily as interested in ourselves, and how their ability to dominate with seemingly ease, creates that interest and brings new people into those realms and communities themselves. Not only that, but the inspiration it draws out of us to be the best we can be at whatever our passion or field is, to then potentially create that inspiration for others. I think that's really what we all want I'm 650 btw, but watching these videos of you and Magnus and GothamChess have really inspired me to start really learning the game at a fundamental level and continuing to improve in all of my other interests and I really have to thank you for that!
@@joeyblogsy that's me right now.. but in lichess.. I can easily go to 2100 but never reached 2200. I've been stuck for almost a year.. I should stop playing bullet.
As someone older who remembers the Fischer years, people I think may not have a full understanding of what it means to play at 2700+. Fischer was the first to crack this barrier, guys, if you don't know. ONE player at 2700. It took a while for there to be more, and now there only seems to be about 20-25 people or so playing on this level. Of course this is a whole different game and unfortunately I'm gonna have to deal with the fact that a 2000 is not going to be a challenge for these guys. Slightly depressing, but I get it. A 2400 would face an uphill battle too, I think 300 points is a significant gap. It's just the times we live in, to be in the top tier, it's 2600 or you are kind of out. There are 954 players now at 2500 and above.
That’s a disrespectful question. Fury would get rekt by Mike or Ali. His greatest rival is a clumsy giant known for throwing a right hand, and he fought him to a draw. Mike would take his soul and his head and Ali would show him how to really dance. Fury is great, but there’s levels to it.
Na just not right, you can’t compare generations. You have no idea how that fight would go, Ali would barely be a heavyweight in todays game. And pretty sure if busts Douglas can beat Mike Tyson then a dude who is 6ft 8 and very astute boxing wise can beat him. People hold nostalgia too much. Athletes don’t get worse they get better.
@@astradala1845 Tyson’s got that dawg in him. Prime vs prime, my money’s on Iron Mike all day. He hunts like a trained killer and peekaboo would be a solid style against a comparatively slow, lumbering Fury who makes Ali style moves at half speed; that’s exactly what it was made for. I agree people hang on to nostalgia with sports, but Tyson is/was different and we’ll never see someone like him again most likely. Nothing taken away from Fury, I’m a fan.
Watch Tyson vs. Ribalta, there's your answer to what would happen if Fury fought Tyson at peak. Tyson was known as a giant slayer. Ali would win on points against Fury. But in the end, fighters fight who is around when they are around and there's a natural lifecycle to it. Can't be #1 forever.
@@JumpNMustang 1500 nor 2000 can be titled players. 2300 and 2800 rated players can both participate in official FIDE tournaments and gain actual otb rating. Rating isn't proportional all the way through. I would say a 600 can definitely beat an 1100 if they are playing well enough. On guess the elo I have seen 900s who play like 400s and 1000s who play like 2000s in the same time control.
@wasifchowdhury2004 is not a matter of if they can become titled. It's a matter if relative competition. On 98% of the cases a 1500 player is not competitive to a 2000. And your comment about 2000 not being able to be titled shows how much you know about OTB play. A 2000 is the first official title a player is recognized with. Expert/Candidate master. And it's potentially the hardest to exit north because you have to bone up on positional play before you graduate to 2200 and 2300. And you're generally the first target of up and coming IMs and GMs. As they pass you. Your lack of understanding of levels of play is disturbing.
@wasifchowdhury2004 by the way.. I am 2000+ in almost every rating system. I have participated in official fide events. Even title norm events. I may not have done well against the big boys overall, but again your comment about them not participating is wrong and shows lack of knowledge. Enjoy.
@@JumpNMustang I know about the 2000s participating and all, but it still shows that a rating gap of beginners and experts are not the same. I apologize for that terrible wording in that sentence, but that's not really the main point. The actual point was about the difference of the rating gaps. Beginners/Intermediates are prone to make more blunders regardless of the opponent they are playing. Let's say a 1000 is playing against a 1500. If the 1500 let's say hangs a piece some point in the game and the 1000 is able to convert, the 1000 will win the game. And the W:D:L ratio in let's say 16 games of the 1000 and 1500 will be about 10:1:5. I as a 1500 (now I'm 1750) a few months back was on fire that day and was beating my 1900 rated friend like it was nothing and even he was surprised, as I usually struggle a LOT against him. Just like that, if the 1000 is having a really good day and the 1500 isn't able to play well, the 1000 will be able to outplay that 1500. Rating isn't always the end of the story. I see in Gotham's videos all the time where the 1000 rated players both get 90%+ accuracy in their game and play effortlessly like a 2000 while some 1500s are shoving their own shoes into their mouth. Two high level players on the other hand won't make silly blunders like that and it will mostly come down to tactical awareness and positional play. The only consistent 2800+ player now is Magnus. Good form or not, Magnus even wipes 2700s off the board like nothing. 2300s would be a joke for him. He literally got bored against his match with Gukesh in the SCC because he was winning so much. His W:D:L ratio in the same number of games against a 2300 will be unquestionably 16:0:0. Even if we consider Ding or Hikaru to be a 2800, still, 15:1:0 is the worst they can do.
