I was born in LA. Moved out as a baby and grew up elsewhere. Moved back when I was 30. Watched all the infringements being added over the next 35 years. Moved with an AR that had become thoroughly illegal. I have nothing but respect for those of you who stick it out behind enemy lines. I couldn't do it anymore. Some laws have to be broken, but it's dangerous to do so. Hang tough folks. This garbage can't go on forever.
This is the exact video I’ve been looking for. Just picked up this same rifle for my wife and was looking to set it up just like this. Thanks for the video!
The Armaglock’s kingpin is way better than the juggernaut kit. I’ve had them unscrew. And like you mentioned the pin not coming out sucks. And if you accidentally rotate the helfighter pin while it’s pulled out…good luck getting it back in.
@RenoMay appreciate your feedback bro. Love your youtube channel btw. Lots of great information about about 2A and California gun laws. In my opinion, and no knock on Juggernaut Tactical but the helfighter pin needs some work. I've had it also not want to go back in if rotated unless you have a tool. The AR Maglock Kingpin is a simpler design with less moving parts and it works effectively. 🙏
Never understood this madness. A while back bullet buttons made these legal and the tyrants just move the cheese. All these expensive mods will get banned soon by these same tyrants. I just take my Colt AR15 A2 to the outdoor range, no big deal, county sheriffs use the far end of the range for their practice, sometimes these guys come over and ask to shoot the relic. They are the nicest guys and appreciate a classic AR. We have a moral imperative to ignore unconstitutional laws.
Soon their won't be any cheese with a complete semi-auto ban. So keep wishfully thinking in that stupid state. Most CA democrats want all firearm ownership to be moot no matter what you have.
The Juggernaut kit comes with a bolt catch which you didn’t mention. That bolt catch prevents the bolt from locking back when the mag empties. It’s a real pain and extremely problematic because you have to manually chamber a round with the charging handle each time you change out a mag. I opted to run AR Maglocks on all of my rifles. I tried the Kingpin, but as you said it does feel flimsy. So I used the takedown “button” from the Juggernaut kits and I actually like the fact that it’s bigger and sticks out further because I don’t have to fiddle around trying to find the smaller Kingpin button. It’s kind of a waste though since I’m not using the mag catch supplied in the Juggernaut kit because I want the bolt to lock back when the mag is empty. This is the best setup we can get here in California. It’s just one extra step that truly becomes muscle memory after a couple mag changes. You press a button with your thumb without even having to change/adjust your grip. The force used to insert a fresh magazine closes the action, then it’s just a matter of dropping the bolt to chamber a round as you would normally and you’re back in business.
@@tsodshow I prefer the Juggernaut kit as well. got used to it and got used to its flaws, I have no complaints.. I even made a jam and double feed on purpose and was able to clear it within seconds
Thank you. Very informative video. I have been looking for a thorough explanation of the AR mag lock for years in the California compliant options. Keep up the good work brother.
Over the years I’ve pieced together different videos to help determine whether or not I was being “compliant”. This video is a great consolidated place to get all the information that took me a while to research myself. I like that you show the two options. I do wish you would’ve pulled the charging handle back with a mag inserted to demonstrate being out of ammo and recreating a reload but at this point I’m not even sure if THATS allowed on RUclips. I decided to go with the maglock. The only issue I ever had was that my upper was not cracking enough to get the mag release button ledge to engage consistently. I feel that this is a possible real life issue in case you ever do need to reload in a situation and your life depended on it. All that to say that this was a nice thorough video 👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning to do a range demo video with both the AR MAGLOCK Kingpin and Juggernaut Tactical Hellfighter to show reload times and potential issues than can occur with either system. Please subscribe and stay tuned for that video within the next few weeks.
Or don't and keep it completely normal and keep a comp mag version 3 with you. If the law shows up shove it in there and it won't come back out. fixed mag at the drop of a hat. also keep upper/lower separate while traveling

Nice quality video! Appreciate seeing the comparison of the rear takedown pins. Thanks! We make a featureless grip that is not a fin; you might want to check it out for a future build.
I use the Crossfire kit. Much better. They allow me to seperate upper and lower completely in case of a malfunction. Still holds the mag in place until the upper and lower are seperated.
Get the Cross Armory Quick Pins. They allow a full open of the action by just a squeeze of the buttons. Doesn't interfere with the safety either. They just cost more, but, who cares? It's just money. The only problem with all of these is if the bolt locks back, you have to send it forward in order to break the action. This presents a slight problem if you have a jam or double feed. Can't break the action if the bolt is in the buffer tube. Can't drop the mag if you can't break the action. And can't clear the jam if the mag is in the well and there's another round pushing right up against the jam. Well, it can be cleared, it just takes a while longer.
You bring a good point about the bolt lock issue. This is the biggest down side to the Helfighter and Juggernaut Tactical pin workaround. I've never heard of the Cross Armory quick pins and will have to look into that setup vs the other two in this video.
