Okay, I have to correct you on something you've been passing on to your viewers, Reno, and that I've heard some attorneys (incorrectly) advise. It is *NOT* illegal to take your standard cap mag out of state with you and return with it. That is not defined as "importing", even by the State of CA. The definition of "import" is to bring into the State from a point of origin outside the State. If you purchased an item within CA, then CA is its place of origin when you took possession of it, and taking it back and forth with you across state lines is simply possessing your property during your travels.
Otherwise, if we take these attorneys' poor advise at face value, then every single time you drive your vehicle back into CA when visiting another state, that is the same action and would be subject to CA's Usage Tax, and you'll have to pay sales tax on your vehicle's value every time. Is a person re-importing the money in their pocket, the wedding ring on their finger, their phone, their other property, etc every time they go on vacation to Las Vegas? No. And the same goes for standard cap mags.
Pinning this. And while it very well may be true here’s the big thing to still think about.
It’s been talked about a handful of times online that people driving from Nevada have been stopped on the ca border and cops have found mags.
Even if you legally own them it’s still possible that cops can potentially put you in jail temporarily and you could lose your rights for a time.
I just today got an email from a man who owned mags legally but the cops took them all and charged him with 19 felonies. He eventually got let out after a few days and after suing got his rights and his property back. But it took over 9months of being disarmed and treated like a criminal
@@RenoMay Understood, and point well taken. But please bear in mind (as I'm sure you do...I've been following you for years here) that the issue of legality and the issue of LE ignorance are two different matters. My point is to simply clarify the legality as per CA P.C.
I work closely with LEOs/LEAs who understand the law and largely disagree with the mag ban, but who have advised me to be cautious as well due to widespread ignorance among the LE community. After all, there are so many laws on the books here in CA - and the status of 2A related ones change so often - that it's becoming increasingly harder for LEOs to properly enforce.
To parrot your oft-mentioned line, "I am not an attorney, and this is not legal advice. Do what your own knowledge and conscience demand that you do."
Yah the cops not knowing the law is really the biggest thing to be aware of imo. Some room temp IQ cop can ruin you over a legal item.
The ride IS the punishment.
@@RenoMayhow would they find the mags? who is the idiot who consents to a search?

This is what 50 years of “one sided politics” gets you in The State of California.
50 years of fraudulent elections, you mean. How'd 2020 treat you? Feeling like California yet?
$1,000 says that 90% of those standard capacity magazines confiscated by law enforcement or not destroyed but stolen and it signed off on paperwork as destroyed.
Possible, but I imagine that there's exceptions in the laws for LEOs and just like how they can buy off roster handguns straight from a gun store, they can probably legally buy "high capacity" and have no need to steal evidence.
man these things are so cheap i dont think its worth "stealing" them they be pulling fresh ones whenever they want
Well sadly most of those laws don’t apply to law enforcement. They legally can go out and buy or be given 30 round mags for service ARs no problem at all.
@@icebox829 they can buy whatever they want for what they got at home too

It's amazing to me that cops still think they're doing the country a favor when they make arrests on laws like this.. a felony for putting 30 round magazine in a fixed magazine gun... That's one hair away in absurdity for making it punishible by death for making fun of the king.

I hate California's gun laws so much it's unreal. Keep up the fight.
I am the same way I live in California and I hate these gun laws but what doesn’t make sense that these idiots and clowns that write these laws they’re being protected every day by guns see the people that are protected by guns. I’m not talking about Donald Trump. He has to have guns protect him because we’ve got a lot of stupid liberals that have been doing a lot of dumb things toward him ,but these people that write gun laws are protected by guns why because they’re scared and they know that what they’re doing is illegal and they’re worried that somebody will do harm to them. These people that write gun laws would just abide in the constitution. They wouldn’t need anybody to protect them with guns. It’s a double standard for them do as I say, not as I do.
and now illinois also
And NM next. Look, our strategy is all wrong here, we're playing defense in the courts which is time consuming, costly and frustratingly unreliable. Getting out in front of it means addressing pub op and the legislatures. To do this requires some political muscle, and that muscle can be found in the origin, purpose, evolution and history of gc beginning in VA, 1691. Don't bother with Constitution this and Bill of Rights that: they don't give a rolling donut's care. But what they do care about are the issues I just pointed at. I've been doing some research on that and using it with great effect. Come get some.
Don’t comply. That’s it. To hell with them. You think leftists care about our own laws?
fr its the main reason i'm leaving the hoboshit filled cesspool known as LA, california
dude this is actually so smart, that way when a criminal is using the gun, they can only load ten rounds OR ELSE... that ought to deter them for sure!
I've seen a speedloader for those fixed-mag ARs. You clip it into the ejection port, dump some rounds into it, then use a pushing tool to shove them down into the mag. No need to take the gun apart to swap mags. Probably it'll be illegal when they catch up with it. It's a 3D-print, which will make it hard to stop.
They are now regulating plastic boxes that contain a metal spring, this is where we are at.

@@johnholmes6868 true
It’s because they hate you.
Hate all you want, the weakness of relying on the courts is clear. Get out in front of this thing with a new line of argument: Constitution this and Bill of Rights that doesn't make a dent. They don't even blink because they ===do not care=== Instead, do some looking into the origin, purpose, evolution and history of gc and you have a very effective line of reasoning. I've done legwork in this area and I encourage the same. The gatgrabblers crumble when you start making accusations of racecars and big ol' trees (sp for the platform). I do it all the time and they slink away.
@@Devin7Elevenwait I thought Hk hated us?
Victimless Malum Prohibitum laws are repugnant to Constitutional Law when applied to private individuals.
After serving a few years behind bars go ahead and make this argument on appeal... only to have it denied in the 9th and then passed over by the SC. Relying on the courts is an awful idea: instead, get out in front of it by addressing pub op and the legislatures. The facts of the origin, purpose, evolution and history of gc in this country is plenty of grist for the mill. There is no comeback for the gatgrablers when you point out their hypocrisy and drive it home with the fact the fastest growing demographic of 2A owners over the last few years. Check it out, I have done legwork and applied it to great effect.
Shoutout from a fellow SR resident! I always appreciate how up to date and informative your videos are. Hopefully, some of these ridiculous laws get thrown out as soon as possible and we won't have to worry about them, but like you said before, I won't hold my breath on it.
I only put 10 gallons in my 25 gallon fuel tank.
With gas being $6/gal I dont blame you.
get gas while you can, Its next in California to being made illegal to possess and use. They want electric vehicles that operate off coal fired/oil fired/nuclear plants that the state can turn the car and or the chargers off at will. and then there are the highly polluting batteries and subsequent disposal issues.
CA Approved, less carbon emission. BUT DONT YOU DARE DO 11 GALLONS!
Funny how we’re expected to know the rules and regulations, but cops (respectfully) are not, and they are the ones that are supposed to call us on it, “law enforcement”. That doesn’t work.
They should be deferring to either a supervisor or their on call DA representative when they don’t know the legality of something or how to charge someone.
The worst is a know it all cop who can’t be bothered to look anything up.
An ex DA once told me they throw out tons of cases because of sloppy police work in general.
Don't respect cops who enforce this. Or. Rather, respect them as you would an armed gang that is ruling over your neighborhood to extract revenue. Because that's what they are and what they're doing

California’s terms for these are “Large capacity” and “Non-large capacity” magazines. The terms “Standard” and “High capacity” are never used. Goes to show how the state makes up its own words to make up its own rules.
And how did they decide what the number of rounds would be to constitute a "large" capacity magazine? Why >10 rounds? Why not >15 rounds? How about >20 rounds? Are there transcripts available of those Calif State Legislature sessions?
Thats pretty much what anyone who wants to ban something does
Because to count beyond ten, they would have to take their shoes off!
@@Eddievoneddie13 how do they determine the rounds a magazine holds? For example, I have some AR magazines which hold over 100 rounds of .22LR. Same exact magazine holds 30 rounds of .223. It holds 8 rounds of 450 Bushmaster. It holds 2 rounds of 338 Win Mag, and 0 rounds of 50bmg. I don't know how many rounds of other cartridges it holds, but anything bigger than 50bmg is out for sure... so no 16" shells for sure. So is my magazine a 100, 30, 8, 2, or 0 round mag?
Putting legally acquired standard capacity mags into featured rifles being illegal was news to me. Thanks for this video Reno!
The more you know.

LIFE-PRO TIP - PMAGS have manufacture date stamps, BUT there are still tons of new ones for sale that have date stamps pre-freedom week - Mar 29 to April 5, 2019…Also, Dremel tools exist. 🇺🇸🦅
Our IA said it’s ok to CCW Freedom Week mags. A friend who’s a cop in SF said they were told CCW carriers were exempt from their 10 rd ordinance. I CCW standard mags . With the hold ups all over the Bay Area with drum mags and full auto Glocks with illegal sears wielded by criminals , I am doing what it takes to survive .
Thanks for the information Reno. Unfortunately I don’t own any freedom mags so I’m stuck with the 10 rounds until this law changes. I do have to admit I got excited this last year thinking it was going to happen I know I know don’t hold your breath, yea very disappointing that we’re still in limbo. 😳 trying to stay positive here.😎👍
Reno,
I really admire your humility and your self-effacement. Without doubt you are a good man. Thank you for all that you do for the honest and legal gun owners of California. 👍
The worst of it is that the laws change so damn often. You can be fully aware of the laws when you buy a firearm and then a year later, there’s some new shit you have to worry about.
Reno, I want to commend you for making this video you pointed out many things that people are scared to talk about it. I have experienced most of the nuances you’ve described similarly to you . Again thanks
Thanks from a fellow Kalifornian for what you doing. Like many of "US" I own some larger capacity mags for various handguns that I own. All were acquired before the "ban" but I do understand the complexities of this subject. As a PSA, an unwarranted stop of a Cali plate on I-80 is not unheard of. I live near the border and occasionally drive down the hill to shoot near Reno in the winter months. I always take my lower capacity mags when I do this. I've never had one of these stops myself but it's just not worth the risk. A further PSA would be a caution about returning to Kali with a purchase made at a Reno gun shop or Gun Show. They have been known to "observe" Kali plates at the bordering gun shops or gun shows and make stops.
Yeah and don’t head back right when the show ends with everyone else. Stay an extra day, cruise north or south a bit for a farther border crossing, anything to not be part of the pack cruising back right after the show. The federalís do indeed know when the gun shows happen and heighten their inspections etc. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
A friend of a friend of mine got into a lot of "trouble" after driving to Arizona to buy enough fireworks for half of LA County. He was pulled over within 30 seconds of crossing the CA border and they knew exactly what they were looking for. If they go to that extent for fireworks what are they doing for firearms.
Yeah, and also drive there in your car, then rent a car to take to the gun show, because you know they be taking pictures/scanning all the license plates at the gun show parking lot which then pop up at state lines when you go back home
I didn't know about the plate scanning but it makes sense. They'd have to have a couple cars right over the state line and scan each car as it comes across. If the Reno show is still at the convention center you could park at the big casino across the street and walk over. @@BikingVikingHH
Good discussion on mags. San Bernardino County Sheriff recommends not using legally possessed standard capacity mags in your carry gun.
In my latest San Bernardino renewal class the instructor was asked about them and he kinda hesitated then said "Don't do it. I know they're legal but just don't do it." Not sure what kind of advice that is......
@@itsjohnrice terrible advice. Sounds like the department has mixed feelings about enforcing it.
I know. 6 years ago they told us not to have Red dot sights. But in that same class a few months ago they praised them and said everybody should have a red dot.... I think at the time the department wasn't allowing them for their officers so they didn't want us to have them either. It leaves a huge feeling of uncertainty about what's even "legal" these days when the one's enforcing it can't agree.@@otroflores91

That’s what they want, for us to become criminals and not be able to buy them at all anymore
Hey Jeff I’m also from stanislaus county, as a current ccw holder do we get the pass to carry magazines larger than 10 rounds ?
IANAL but it has been bandied about on the interwebz that prosecuting the law as it currently stands is limited by a 3-year statute of limitations.
That of course does not stop Law Enforcement from keeping it for themse... err... "siezing it as a nuisance" and "losing it in the evidence locker."
I only leave the house with my tenners.
The only other exception not mentioned (and it's totally cool to skip for brevity) is rimfire caliber bolt-action rifles with fixed tube magazines that can hold 10+ rounds of, say, .22LR, or more of .22L, or a silly number of .22 short (if you can even find that anywhere these days!).
Keep up the good work, sir!
You can make a career out of shoplifting in California, cops don't bat an eye...
But don't you dare load 11 rounds into a 30 round magazine!
Its okay if criminals do it, though. That charge will likely get dropped so they can get a slap on the wrist.
Such a great informative video yet again good Sir. I know all this stuff myself but I will be forwarding this to all my friends that don’t know and I will save this for reference and future educational needs for others. It’s just very well explained and thorough. Once again I’m thankful that you care to fight for our rights and keep us up to speed without clickbait. And glad you take all the precautions so they don’t shoot that adorable dog
I know it must seem pretty bad right now, but it's going to get a lot worse.
As a Californian with three homes I wind up in a variety of areas, from SoCal to NorCal. With a CCW issued by a county within California, along with a Utah and Florida CCW, I that I like to remain concealed and carrying as I go to Reno, which is fairly close to one of my homes. I also work as a Range Safety Officer near my SoCal home. I’m also a retired senior military officer. When I go in every two years for my CCW update, I, like many of us, ask my instructors for the latest updates to the carry laws. Two bring aways are don’t even think about using a magazine in any of my 3 carry weapons and don’t register a once known as SSE single shot exemption pistol as one of my CCWs. As an old guy, I have magazines dating back decades. Some exceed the arbitrary 10 round limit, and many are artificially limited to 10. The advice that I have received is no not even tempt LEOs with carrying the larger mags. Being all over California, I have learned from my instructors, which I pass on to customers, is to be sensitive to the differing enforcement standards in the different counties. For example, don’t consider using your, freedom week mags down in the LA area. Don’t even use them at your ranges. Just be ultra conservative. When I drive to Nevada, I take along a larger mag. I have no fear of returning to California with any larger mags. I don’t understand why I would be targeted by LE. And neither will you. Don’t be paranoid.
Glad to see videos back
I wonder how much a California Sheriff costs?
Just a few hidden videos of them at those weirdo Los Angeles parties with very young girls. Sounds like a bargain.
If you're talking about "off-roster handgun," here's how you do it legally:
1. Order an off-roster handgun to your local gun store
2. Have them convert it to single-action only
3. Buy and pick up the gun
4. Convert it back to semi-auto (or SA/DA for revolvers)
Reno, has it been argued to the 9th Circuit that there is History proving that the thousands of "High Capacity" magazines purchased during Freedom Week and brought into California did not cause ANY type of increase in crimes or mass shootings using these so called "Assault Weapons"?? You could just sue if caught. It's a clear violation of the 2nd and Marbury vs Madison. All unconstitutional laws are null and void.
*in actual reality a 10+ magazine will be a fine or misdemeanor charge in CA. An assault weapons charge will also just be a misdemeanor. Carry without a CCW is always a misdemeanor also. On the books mags and AW charges **_may_** be charged as felonies, but we all know that after Prop 47 felonies are basically abolished in California. Bottom line: punishment for standard mags, AWs, and no CCW is essentially irrelevant/non-existent. I am not advocating breaking the law, simply saying that in real world cases anyone violating these laws will get a fine and a suspended sentence (if that). "Jail time" is California's Kryptonite*
Carrying without a ccw isn’t ALWAYS a misdemeanor
Also I’ve got several instances of people being charged with felonies.
Not breaking the law until caught by someone who disagrees.

My Freedom Week Mag's never leave my humble Abode.
You are not as safe as you might think.
"Freedom Week" "Freedom Day", etc are false representations of reality when describing injunctions or stays of injunctions.
Yes, you can possess(or do whatever the prohibit conduct is) during the time that the injunciton is in place without enforcement being taken against you DURING that time.
BUT when the injunction or stay of injunction is no longer in effect, you CAN be prosecuted for unlawful conduct during the so-called "Freedom Time" (time that the injunction was active).
Wait! WHAT?!
Yes, an injunction does not change(or void) the law at all, it merely "prohibits enforcement actions" during a certain period.

CODE RENO SAVES 10%
It's so stupid.😂not the code but the reason for your vid. Thanks!
Well hold on you did say you would be perfectly fine if you want to know that with a 10-round magazine? And then bought a hike up or whatever at a store in nevada? Now what happens if on your way to the store to get a standard capacity magazine in Nevada you run into some criminals who don't follow the rules and they have drum magazines and all you have is a 10-round? I don't know if you would be considered perfectly fine under that scenario? Lol
Change the follower and the springs as needed. Problem solved.
Hey Reno, I have been watching your channel for a while now, and I love that you’re using the platform to help the common man. I see a lot of parallels between CA vs 2A rights to that of CA vs car modification - what should be a 1A activity. Is there any way i could get in contact with you about this topic?
Last time I checked no mention of the police in the 2nd or 10th Amendment.
CastleRock v Gonzales
Also we are not in state custody
DeShaney v Winnebago County
A militia can only be regulated when in state custody or conscription
How many "freedom week" magazines were actually purchased during freedom week? 😬 ALL of them!
It doesnt mattter, they can all be basis for criminal charges in the future.
You explain things very well I appreciate you
Over my dead body. I will never comply to any of these unjust laws
Then you’ll rot in prison… you do you buddy
At that point it does go bad for 2A owners, the US Supreme Court has to step in and say enough is enough No more Infringements
You literally saying -" please government save us from the government ".
Scotus aint on your side my man. The bruen decision was trash... and meant to he crumbs to make you feel like you won something... every now and then they feed you a meaningless crumb to keep you occupied
Thank you papa Reno for the info
Okay that's odd I know I've heard about people getting unsubscribed before but I'm pretty sure I was subscribed to your channel but I just had to resubscribe for some reason
thanks for this Video Reno and all you do brother
you are very much appreciated
Thank you man
So thankful patriots like you, Reno, are standing your ground and fighting the good fight. The joke is on California as long as you stay. 👊👏🇺🇸
I know the joke but I sure hope you don't leave California. Love having you here fighting for our rights!
Thank you.
Thank you for the info
Thank you for fighting for our rights
By California's import logic, every time you drive out of California and drive back in you have imported your car. Or if you have an off-roster gun you've imported an off-roster gun. There's no way that could stand SCOTUS scrutiny.
Don't count on that, but you can count on the court being ignored if they rule in your favor.
You underestimate the stupidity of this country to pass laws designed to make life hard for you because they hate you
I literally tell my clients the and thing about leaving and coming back with magazines. I also mention that it applies to ammo.
Algo comment, thanks for being the community firearms lawyer Reno
They can only take us to jail if we just let each other be taken 🧐... Sometimes we got to put the money where the mouth is and do something about it
The people that founded this country literally put everything on the line.
What yall think the king would have done , had they lost?
Men died, risked jail, execution, everything..
Nobody in modern times are willing to even risk getting pulled over...
The only rights we have are those we are willing to meet God over.
Everything else is a state granted privilege
