You've got to be careful with the HF "brass" brushes (as well.as other Chinesium "brass" brushes.) Sometimes they are brass-colored steel bristles. If you are counting on soft brass so, for example, you can attack rust spots without taking off the bluing and it's steel instead you might be doing some damage. Check those bristles with a magnet and if that "brass" sticks to the magnet it's really steel. A lot of "brass" fittings are really steel with brass coating. Many hinges, knobs, screws, and even those grommet kits can be steel imposters that will rust and stain your projects. Chinesium sneaky bastids.

Best comment 😂 Although I'm surprised any employees were at that Harborfreight... I swear every employee is addicted to p0rn and hiding in the back, or they have a very successful organ harvesting scheme... I swear you could roll out half the store using carts, dollies, and moving equipment sold at the store before anyone may notice 😂 Although that sucks and I'm pretty sure theft (along with inflation) was a large part of the price increases and fewer unrestricted 20% off coupons 🙄 What kind of methhead is stealing items with the absolute lowest resale value?! (I guess the ones that get it away with it multiple times from the same store and location without getting caught 🤦‍♂️) I've been to maybe ten Harborfreights and only 2 actually have had great management and employees that keep everything stocked on the shelves while maintaining correct inventory to match their website... Most seem to have the absolute worst management I've ever witnessed. Also shout out to "Rural King" it's like a Harborfreight/Tractorsupply/auto parts store on steroids that also sells name brand tools in addition to HF priced products, plus free popcorn, coffee, AND guns, ammo, and some accessories... Snagged a 2 rifle AR height 42" heavy duty nylon padded soft case with 2 molle mag pouches, a permanent padded zipper compartment and a safariland 7TS holster for less than $100 😂 Sadly they are pretty rare to find, all on the east cost side, (west coast and middle flat county have their own equivalents with various names) basically a cluster up the map from central Florida to Ohio with a few random outliers... I wish my town had one, but we do have some cool family owned hardware stores that have a similar "we sell everything men want besides women" inventory 😂 One has a complete knitting/sewing/upholstery section next to the home furnishings if you already have the woman and need to distract her while you look at everything else 😉

Speaking as a gunsmith, the best thing I've found is the transfer punch set. Besides their intended use, they make great mandrels or pin stock, they're fairly soft and can be ground or turned to suit. This set is cheap, you can't buy the materials for the price. I always have at least 2 sets on hand.

Many many people spend untold fortunes on much more frivolous hobbies or entertainment. If you're tight on money, you might contact an older gunsmith and offer to work for him whatever few hours a week you can commit to in exchange for the knowledge you will pick up from him along with the best path to success in the trade. Idk what you've bought but $20 air hammers going forever no oil and earthquake impact wrenches too, all across shops I've been in.
Only seen 1 broken HF air tool, never oiled and it would've been fine but the cheap ass stealership shop didn't change the water filter in the air compressor, so it was rusted on the interior.
The rust made the vanes on the turbine seize, other than that it was fine too
Also it had sat, it was left behind. Used daily probably wouldn't have locked up

I bought those super cheap earmuffs. They were very ineffective until I modded them. I took them apart and put some really good high density foam inside and used some liquid rubber. I already had the stuff laying around so it didn't cost me anything and they work really well now.
The knockoff pelican cases are very solid. I have a small one and a larger one.
I've got coupons for the cheap little ammo boxes and got them for like $3 each. You can use one coupon for a bunch of the ammo boxes. Make sure that the rubber o-ring is in place correctly and it helps to glue it in place so it stays put. Every time you get something that has those silica packs in it throw them into the ammo boxes.

Makes a world of a difference grabbing a bag that’s pre-kitted than trying to remember everything then get to the range and realize you’ve forgotten ammo. This system is undefeated. Get back from range day and replace anything that needs it and throw the bag in the corner until next time.

Tidbit on hf ammo cans. There better built than Walmart steel ammo cans. For while I only bought the Walmart cans cause they were $4 cheaper than hf. I bought a hf ammo can and popped it open and immediately saw a quality difference especially with the lid hinges and lid gasket. Walmart cans gasket was rolled and wouldn't lay down flat or locked in like the hf ammo cans seals are. If your going for cheap but super quality ammo cans go for the hf cans. I own 16 cans total so far, yes fully loaded with magic boom jelly beans. The house I live in is old and has temp swing in it like mother nature with bpd on a bad day. Everytime I pop open a can it has that nice air suction sound like a fresh ammo crate opening.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Over the years I've bought almost all of this stuff. I still have a lot of it.
I built an AR pistol kit using an Apache case. Lower with 7.5 inch 5.56, 300 Blk and 7.62x39 uppers, all in a handy case. They used to have a hydraulic press that was useful for bending AK flat receiver plates. All the tools for milling 80% AR receivers, I got there. It wasn't as well built as the expensive tools, but it worked, and was cheap enough to replace when needed.

I’d recommend anyone new to building to buy from hf. There’s nothing worse than getting all the top of the line stuff when getting into a hobby then finding out you actually don’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would and being stuck with a pile of expensive memorabilia. And the best part is it’s a lot of the cheaper stuff that still work if you decide to continue so you’ll only have to upgrade a few things

Big D, I like your video. I have purchased several of the items you featured. That magnetic parts dish, for example is just one of those things that once you have one or more, you’ll ask yourself why you never got one sooner. I have bought some of the cooler looking ($3.99) safety glasses. I should check the ratings. Never paid attention to the ear pro, but…. I recently started teaching CCHL classes and will say that Harbor Freight Gun storage products are going to appeal to a lot more people who live pay check to pay check but still want to be part of the 2A community not to mention have the ability to defend themselves and family from the garbage the world is currently dragging in. Not to mention my own bottom line. So I appreciate your video and certainly hope that the revenues at the store where you were filming increase and the manager who kicked you out (and area manager) is aware that Big D sent ‘em.

    just to add to...
Z87 is a rating given for safety glasses. its called the drop ball test, they take the lens and drop a bearing through a pipe on it from about 5ft if the lens doesnt break its Z87 rated.
If you want to step it up try and find some that are thicker polycarb lenses, ive seen them stop 22 rds. Im a retired ABOC certified Optician is why I know these things. But yeah the thicher the better for polycarb lenses, its the same stuff in a lot of bullet proof glass

Ty much sir. I should have asked permission first. Not a big deal. I was being kind of loud. It’s good to have your ammo stored separate from your boom sticks to maximize storage and in the event you get burglarized you don’t get your bangs taken with the ammo. That’s just my 2 cents.

I got that large rifle case on sale for $99. The small one was $16.99. The large metal ammo cans for $11.99 ea. Thiae were all flyer deals. Slap an extra 10-20% coupon on those of the stars align and its even better.
