    Every safe dealer will tell you a traditional dial lock is more reliable than a digital. Problems aren’t that common, but when they do it’s always the digital locks. It comes down to steel in the construction. 3/8-1/2” in the door is great, but most doors with less will survive prying attacks. It’s the steel in the sidewalls to consider. The strongest door around is worthless if a $30 Harbor Freight grinder can eat a ring around the top of the safe so they can just reach in and pull the guns out. Between these two safes the Amsec is better as two layers of steel with that “concrete” mixture in between. A grinder has to go “deep” to cut both layers. Fire protection is hit or miss. It all depends upon the location inside the house. Firearms rarely survive unscathed in a total house loss. If that safe falls thru the floor those guns are going to get banged up. Lastly no safe holds the amount of guns they claim especially if you have a lot of bolt actions with scopes. Remember they aren’t “safes”, they are Residential Security Containers. It says so inside the door. If they were “true safes” they wouldn’t have 7-14ga sidewalls. So for smash and grab thieves, limiting access to kids, and SOME fire protection, a gun “safe” is a good idea. The biggest complaint about all safes is the buyer wishes they would have purchased a bigger model. Your collection grows and your wives will want to put stuff in there too! This video host is very knowledgeable. If you live in TX, buy from him. If you live in WA state, buy from NWSafe in Auburn, WA. Don’t ever buy a Chinesium safe from a big box store. I don’t care if it says “Winchester” on the front of it.

    42 year Safe tech here I’ll put in my two cents first off. You should never ever have an electronic safe lock Secondly, I would never buy a safe with internal Hinges. There’s no way to repair or adjust. With a lower cost gun safe. A bad fire will cook the contents. third it would be wise to purchase a $29 sentry fireproof suitcase, put all of your important documents in that and put that inside your gun safe for extra fire protection fourth you should open your safe a minimum of once a week to exchange the air fifth keep all of your important guns inside of silicone gun socks and for the record, my favorite safe lock of all time it’s called big red. You shouldn’t own Safe without one.

    The amsec over liberty any day of the week! Drylight over drywall alone…never mind solid plate door compared to composite bs. Sorry but no substitute for solid steel (except maybe a high psi concrete)
    I may have missed it but if you did a weight comparison I’d venture to say the amsec is quite a bit heavier. Two safes are roughly the same size yet one is much heavier it means it’s a better built safe in terms of steel or concrete content. Amsec equals true quality security, liberty equals some security and a lot of marketing.

    • @A1LocksmithofTexas
      @A1LocksmithofTexas  2 месяца назад

      Nice, what a compliment if they said that. First let me say we don’t sell them, so my only opinions are from the specs and pics I’ve seen online. They remind me of a couple of imports that are well made. I would compare the internal working (the cam and linkage rods) to most all important. The door on some Dakota models list 7ga exterior and 10ga inner plate with a 3/16” body - these are good specs. I genuinely don’t have much outside of this, but maybe the Mad Scientist and I need to go get one to make a video 🤔🤔🤔

    Liberty seems to have a big gap all around the door for a pry bar to engage.

    • @A1LocksmithofTexas
      @A1LocksmithofTexas  Месяц назад

      Good eye. Liberty’s gap between the door and body does appear larger than some others on the market. They offset the gap with flat bars that make 12x the contact radius vs a 1” round bolt & the thicker the bolt the less likely of bending. Their flat bolts extend quite a bit further out when engaged over many other safes on the market. Also, the doors have an outer steel that you see, but there’s also an inner steel plate to add extra strength to block against pry attempts. They actually do a lot of avoid pry attempts. Consumers can increase the strength of a safe to fight against pry attacks even more by bolting them down. We always say bolting down is 50% of the security of the safe.

    • @vinsonhelton7141
      @vinsonhelton7141 Месяц назад

      @A1LocksmithofTexas
      You would probably need to look at the Executive or Guardian at the price your quoting on the two your showing. The Executive has a 1/4 solid steel inch body. The door is 10 gauge shell with a 3/8 inch solid plate full door coverage just to mention a little about the safe. I was quoted 6750.00 and that quote includes the bundle kit which includes the dehumidifier, lights, 4 corner bolts and the pull handle.
      With Fort Knox you can add a lot more steel of different types and build it how you want. I really like that. And to get to 8000.00 like the amsec price I could beef it up
      This is the 60x31x27 and it weighs 1,111 pounds without the 4 corner bolts and the "not cement " that gives weight to other safes.

    • @A1LocksmithofTexas
      @A1LocksmithofTexas  Месяц назад

      @@vinsonhelton7141 That’s awesome, thanks for the feedback. One of the most impressive things about Ft Knox is how customizable they are. Even the paint job has endless possibilities. Corner bolts are always a plus, but once you get into 3/8” & 1/2” steel plates and 1-1/4” round or 1” thick flat bolts on all 4 sides of the door it’s highly unlikely anything is prying it open. But you’re right, they make a helluva a safe too and it’s always a great idea to shop around and compare.

      I really like the American Security BFX safe and BF II and I am interested in.
      I want to invest in a company first and foremost that I feel will be around to honor their lifetime warranty and a dealer secondly that will to. I've experienced dealers that gave me a warranty that went out of business to service my product but the product company picked up the slack and honored their warranty and found other dealers that helped me. So buying a safe in the higher price range is extremely important to have reasonable confidence in their sustainability in the market even if their safe might be a little better. Liberty, American Security, Fort Knox I believe as well as a couple others fit into that confidence.
      What I want to see is real life information about the TIME I'm buying for Security and fire protection so I can choose wisely and know what reasonably to expect when events occur.

      @@vinsonhelton7141 I can absolutely get behind what you’re saying. Great news is AMSEC has been around since the 1940’s, like A-1 Locksmith 🤠, Fort Knox and Liberty have been around since the 1980’s. Companies like these are responsible for how far the safe market has come. Lifetime warranties are becoming very familiar terms in the industry, especially with names like these. All offer quality products and all have unique offerings. AMSEC has a vast catalog of home, jewelry, gun and more safes. They’re super heavy duty safes are made in America. Liberty’s entire catalog is American made and they offer $800-$9,000 safes from 30 minute fire to 2 hour fire. Fort Knox is custom and I mean if you can think of it they can probably do it. What state are you in, I’d be glad to introduce you to anyone I know near you. After my two decades plus I’ve had the pleasure of growing a large network of great people.

      FBI was making an arrest and they had a search warrant, the person being arrested had a Liberty safe with a mechanical lock in his home. The FBI agent in charge called Liberty and requested if they had the combo to the safe found on the premises. Liberty said yes, but they would need the serial number of the safe, a copy of the search warrant signed by a judge, a copy of the agents credentials/identification. All requested information was supplied and Liberty gave the agent the combination. ***They have always worked with law enforcement. However, after this particular situation they rewrote their policies. For example you can request to have your serial number and safe information removed from their database. Wipe your lock yourself, depending on the lock or have a locksmith change your mechanical lock combination. Moving forward Liberty’s new policy also requires a subpoena specifically name Liberty safe in it. Which they state they will contact the person of interests before hand. That is shorter version, but all the facts to answer your question. We have other videos on our channel about it.
