PC 30515 (a) (2) still applies, meaning you can't have standard cap or any magazine with more than 10 rounds or it will still be an AW if the magwell still has a "fixed mag" limiting tool: "A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds."

Forget about the FIFY for a minute: you cannot use a fixed-mag semi-auto with more than a 10-round mag, you get that right? The PC 30515 (a) (2) section? Adding the FIFY doesn't change this part of the law. Again, based on the letter that the lawyer wrote, they spoke of the FIFY as being a "redundant fixed magazine" used with an "existing fixed magazine firearm", I'm saying you cannot use that specific configuration with a 10+ round mag without violating 30515 (a) (2). Just to make sure you understand: redundant means a second; meaning there are two fixed mag devices that they're speaking of in the first paragraph, which is what I was writing and warning about being careful in such a configuration. I get that you're talking about removing the original fixed mag tool so the mag release button function as originally designed: I'm just warning folks about PC 30515 (a) (2) if they've not yet returned the mag release into a detatchable mag configuration. It's a totally stupid law, but it is still there.

One normal sized card for the range bag or glove box and a back up that can be stashed in the grip 😁. At least if they do try to arrest or charge you, you would have some sort of legal standing that you presented what it is, how you abided with the current laws by using the device, that they were informed or "educated" on its legality, then continued to wrongfully charge and/or arrest you.

I can safely say that I can give legal advice as I have passed the BAR and my license and name are in good standing with the ABA. That being said, I can also safely legally say that these "laws" in California that in any way, shape, form, or fashion, affect your 2nd Amendment rights, or any other Constitutional rights in the Bill of Rights, are not laws. Congress shall pass no law that violates the constitution. If a state passes a law that violates the US Constitution, then it is not a law. States can pass their own laws within that extent only.
That does not, however, mean that the state of "Commiefornia" errr... I mean California... You know what, no, I meant it the first way... anyway, it does not mean that said state will respect and uphold the Constitution, nor the Bill of Rights. Pick your fights carefully or avoid them. The choice is yours.
All jokes aside though, I find the human will to adapt to such situations as we find ourselves in, to be amazing, but absolutely despicable that such adaptation even was found to be needed in the first place due to parts of our government becoming directly tyrants in nature.

Bullet buttons aren't legal in NY either for the same reason. You could have magazines welded all over your gun but if it can accept a magazine it falls under the assault weapon guidelines.

The law says "Semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following..."In which case putting a non-detachable mag on the rifle doesn't disable it's capacity to accept a detachable magazine. I don't see how this could possibly be legal. But I'd love to be wrong and if I am, somebody please explain why.

No, the California law says, "(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following: " You are quoting the expired 1994 federal law.

The real question is, can you convince a cop that it’s legal so he doesn’t confiscate it? The answer is definitely no.

Yes. CA DOJ has been unequivocal that they consider this device a sham as it still allows use of high capacity magazines as the actual ammunition feeding device. Strongly suggest people support CRPA and otters who are litigating unconstitutional CA laws rather than violating them and ending up indicted

Maybe the Fify can be made for other rifles. Example: FN SCAR, XCR-L & XCR-M, Springfield Hellion, Beretta ARX-160, and others.
