Thanks for the share! Got my Sigma 40 Art two days ago and I'm using it on my R5C. The lens is super heavy but the quality is outstanding! I´m so impressed! However the auto focus sound is noticeable on video...
The 40MM Sigma 1.4 is essentially a reference lens. The image quality is essentially perfect albeit with some slight vignetting corner light loss at F1.4 only. Most important to note is that it uses 82mm filters that have an extra cost over 77mm or smaller filters. Unless you need perfect image quality the Sigma 50 or 35mm are much better purely due to being smaller, cheaper and more readily available. The lens cap is perfectly fine and if you don't like it, you can get a generic lens cap for 10 dollars.
Saw this video in my recommend feed, thought it was weird how I also have the same lens and am getting the R5 soon, and the other lens I have is the EF 16-35 f/2.8 so this is a pretty spot-on recommendation
I love the lens but hate how big it is😂 I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it because the value on the secondhand market makes selling it not worth it. Optically it’s superb it’s just so big for a prime.
Thanks! Yes, the lens does not have any stabilization itself but the in-body image stabilization in the R5 still works and it does a great job! I use this lens with the R5 handheld a lot and it’s smooth!
Torn between: 40mm & 28mm Landscapes...? 🤷♂️ Had both Sigma Art 50mm & Canon 16-35mm f4 previously..Was quite a combo. Moved to Nikon for astonishing _dynamic range._ & now need one Razer Sharp Lens under 50mm.
Hard to go wrong with either, but for landscapes I probably go with the wider option- 28mm. I always find myself wanting more width when shooting landscapes. I’ve never used Nikon, but hear great things!
Hey! Since this camera is full frame and the lens is made for full frame, there is no crop. So you are seeing the full 40mm focal length. I hope that helps!
Can you set the autofocus tracking speed with the 40mm 1.4 on a Canon R5? (slower for more cinematic autofocusing) The other lenses from sigma you cant..
I own a R6, but I think something has changed regarding that setting. If I remember correctly, my 50mm f/1.4 Art didn't allow me to change that, but now it does, so I think it may have been thanks to a camera firmware update. I also own the 28mm f/1.4 Art and it does allow that adjustment as well, and I just ordered this 40mm to test it out. Considering how similar the 28 and 40 are, on the Sigma line-up, I'm expecting that feature to be supported.

You’re welcome! Agreed! Very heavy and the autofocus is a little noisy! But that quality though!
Shouldn’t be a problem with external audio though obv

Thanks, bro. and especially for the autofocus sound test. Already wanted to buy, but the sound is too loud for me
I’m glad it helped you out!
good video! Does the stabilizer of the eos r5 work with this lens?

when you use ef crop lenses automatically?

@@davidmpoliveira1 thanks so much for your answer!
@@holdmedear I’m expecting my 40mm to arrive tomorrow, then I’ll be able to tell for sure
@@holdmedear Actually I got it today and yes, it’s available.
SIGMA 40 1.4的对焦噪音确实让人苦恼。。。机顶麦克风几乎不可用。。噪音太大了。。
