I just turned 50 in this insane year of the Covid pandemic and my teenage years where filled with The Alarm! I now have a 9 year old son who has a very impressive vinyl LP collection (with about 23 albums so far) and we talk about Rock'N'Roll all the time. He is very aware that Daddee thinks that The Alarm is one of the top 10 best 80's bands ever!
My dad used to play this song for us all the time in the early 90s. I'm pretty sure this song is solely responsible for my love of songs that reach a crescendo and just deliver. This is one of the best songs to meet that level of expectation I've ever heard, regardless of the fact that it required a speech to get there. It's perfect for what it is. Goosebumps every time.
Happy 62nd Birthday Michael Leslie Peters 25/02/59 Prestatyn, Wales Your folksy / raspy voice is one of a kind. And so is The Alarm. Born same day as George Harrison too..
just watched your video the alarm recue me . brought tears to my eyes as it brought back the feeling and emotions that i felt during that era, a die hard fan to this day, still doing the tours. keep on rocking . darren sunderland
The Alarm along with Big Country were my favourite bands of the 80's fantastic music and memories of seeing both bands live in their pomp #longlivethe80's
a friend posted about them on FB today...and I remember being pulled on the stage and mike putting his arm around me and singing the entire song "walk forever by my side to me" lol I forgot about them in recent years, but they were pretty great. That was at a small college campus show..I saw them open for U2....the alarm was better for that show....
Saw these guys at Hammerjacks in Baltimore on this tour, we were up top and man we just lost our f***ing minds. They were so good. I think they broke up a few months later. Hammerjacks is long gone, you can still see the Hammerjacks logo on the side of the building but very faded... some great bands went through there. Man I'd give anything to go back to the 80s!!!!!
Saw them on the "Change" Tour at The Phantasy Theater in Lakewood, Ohio! GREAT SHOW! "Eye of the Hurricane" was great, but "Change" was The Alarm's Opus!
U2 where first on the scene and made it big in america , so they got there with guitar music before The Alarm , but id say U2 lost it for a while after unforgettable fire . The alarm where as good as U2 live for sure .
As much of a die-hard "early" U2 fan as I am, I definitely agree! If I'm not mistaken, didn't The Alarm tour with U2 as the opening act on certain parts of their Joshua Tree tour? The Alarm also did shows with another favorite post-punk band of mine-The Cult. It was obviously during the early part of the Love album-era since The Cult had already switched it into overdrive with a punk/retro 70's hard rock sound on their Electric album, which also came out in the same year (1987) as U2's Joshua Tree & The Alarm's Eye of the Hurricane albums.
to say the Alarm were a Welsh U2 is to underestimate the Alarm. They were the Alarm a band in their own right and bear favourable comparison with any other band.
I'm almost positive that this was just the beginning of a time when the music was, lost, to rap and hip hop, such a shame, but time is now, awakening again to real music, not saying that the rap artists and the hip hop groups, aren't real musicians it's just not my thing.
Well Ramona likes her malt liquor And a band from Wales thats called The Alarm She said she cried when they broke up She still plays their records at the snake farm
Fucking balls! Why did Bryan Adams get so much cash for promotion whereas the alarm kick his ass - just saying back then this should have been huge! Total banger

Back in the mid 80s they were better than U2!! Why? They had soul. U2 was already corporate. U2 sold out all the way to the bank yet they always ask the fans to contribute money for their causes. ThE ALARM ROCK!
Why edit out Mr. Sharp's ad lib speech? Where was his line: "Music by the people, for the people, and of the people"... and the crescendo that ended with "And the people tonight, are the future Rock and Roll!" I have to give this a thumbs down. Sorry, but I cannot take this sanitized / censored version.
And on top of that, this is the portion that is just quoting Woody Guthrie, and they edited out the part where he gives credit to Woody Guthrie. To hear it in this bubble, it sounds like plagiarism.
I am 54 and when I listen to the Alarm, I make sure my neighbors do as well. Still playing it loud in 2024.
One of the most unheralded, but greatest rock songs.
Nooo desconocida jamas
The most amazing song .From the most amazing band
No-one will ever touch them. Always love ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ 😍 xxxxxx
Best most important band of the 80s. Long live The Alarm.
This is a song of freedom and hope! Long live those who espouse these ideals!

I'm 61..saw them in 1985...Mike Peters..a beautiful man
Been looking for this version for 30 years!
Thank you.
Greatest live show ever!
2:50 Is exactly why I've loved The Alarm since I first heard them 35 years ago.
They've gotten me through my toughest times for exactly this reason.
Honestly, take a look. The alarm in their pomp were simply the greatest live act around. Long live the Alarm
They were good but that's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard.

'Kin ell - they were brilliant.
Totally forgot about Mike Peters speech in the middle of this song lol great band from the 80s
His speech is absolutely brilliant.
“I’m out to fight those songs with every ounce of breath in my body!”
Absolute classic.
Wow. I might have actually been at this show.
Well Ramona likes her malt liquor
And a band from Wales thats called The Alarm
She said she cried when they broke up
She still plays their records at the snake farm

There are two bandsthat i would say were so good they never made it the alarm were one The adventures were the other both were fab
The Adventures one og my fav too.
Anthem from my childhood now sounds like it could’ve been a Springsteen tune
🥰
A renegade
Rides a run away train
To liberate
Tear these bonds assunder
A fugitive
Running from a chain gang
Comfort me
Grant me absolution
Running all my life
Running all my day
Running through the night
Seems like forever
Take me now
I'm so tired
Take me now
This time, forever
RESCUE ME
I'm on the run like a refugee
RESCUE ME
Oh come on rescue me
I'm destitute
I'm looking for protection
I want love
And physical asylum
A vagabond
Running from destruction
Cover me
While I seek defection
Running all my life
Running all my day
Running through the night
Seems like forever
Take me now
I'm so tired
Take me now
This time, forever
RESCUE ME
I'm on the run like a refugee
RESCUE ME
I believe you can rescue me
Running all my life
Running all my day
Running through the night
Seems like forever
Take me now
I'm so tired
Take me now
This time, forever
RESCUE ME
On the run like a refugee
RESCUE ME
Oh come on rescue me
RESCUE ME
Got to run like a refugee
RESCUE ME
I believe you can rescue me
RESCUE ME
Come on, come on, come on, come on
That singer must have got so laid back in the day
The stage floor: All cards are marked, All fates will collide
@@eightiesmusic1984 He is not weird. It is part of the show.
@eightiesmusic1984 Good thing you were not at Alarm shows. The card throwing was enjoyment for all. 🃏♠️♥️♣️♦️

ThE ALARM ROCK!
80s were great
Is it only me or do they sound like U2 like 99% ?
Buzz and a half
they never made an Lp as good as Joshua Tree, but a strong live band, that had some chances, but it takes luck, timing, etc
Man the world used to be cool
