  • Does the biblical doctrine of disassociation from false Christians apply to only the church? Or does that principle extend to other areas of life (i.e. work, school, family, etc.)?

As Paul says, "It is the KINDNESS or God that leads to repentance."
“There are more flies caught with honey than with vinegar. Better to go forth with a sweet smile upon your face and with gentleness written across your countenance than to be morose, stern, and uncivil; for if you are the latter , you belie with your face what you say with your tongue” - Charles Spurgeon.

Boy my last job was horrible. It was full of false Christians and lots of homosexuals, most even claimed to be Christian. You can tell by their heart if people are true Christians or not. I had really hateful mean coworkers who proclaimed to be a Christian. I had to get out of there! I was getting attacked daily!

There are 5 things that make up a true believer.
    1)repentance
    2)love
    3)discipline
    4) discernment
    5) doctrine
And these 5 things will determine a Christians growth and you can’t have one without the other. You can’t have love without discernment, you can’t have doctrine without love and so forth.
I look for these things to find the true Christian. Just because you are loving towards other people doesn’t mean you are in the truth. “But it’s by our love they will know we belong to Jesus!”
Yes.....but Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses can be nice and loving too.....
But anyway, I work at a Christian place and meet these people who claim to be Christians but they gossip and talk about sexual things and I don’t see Jesus in them.

What are we? Are we members of a cult? Do we excommunicate now? Disfellowship? Jesus instructed us to love the lost with a deep and abiding compassion. Condemn the behaviour and try to save the lost regardless of whether they claim to be Christian or not. Educate them on true Christianity. Everyone has Grace until they die.

If Christians would actually deal with professing believers (of legit doctrinal churches) as the Bible says there would not be such a grey area of people. People who refused Matthew 18 would be evangelized as unbelievers. Those at work you deal with as unbelievers gently evangelizing.

You speak of the church as if it is a building. But in this situation, they are both brothers in Christ (supposedly). If you discover this "brother" is not who he says he is ( letting the Holy Spirit guide you) What does light have to do with darkness. After a few attempts at bringing them around to the truth and they don't come around, then I believe you disassociate. I am dealing with this situation with my very own daughter who is associating with the NAR.

1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
      Scripture is very clear...

And my pastor didn’t step in and stopped her and him. She have ruined many families and many are hurting in the church. Thee families have left because of this and she still there?? I’m there for God, but how can a pastor let this happened again and again? Sometime I just want to go look for another church.

      S. Priss - Fake Christians are everywhere. Trust me if you move to another Church.....behold! More fake Christians. Sometimes fake Christians are there to test our faith. Do we put trust in people or in the Lord? Look at the Lord’s life, he was surrounded by many fake believers, at first they said, Lord we would like to follow...and down the track they said “crucify him”.
The Lord was faithful to his mission until the end, fake Christians are distractions to get our eyes off the Lord and back onto the flesh or the world.

Especially reprobates believe they ARE OK with their salvation. They will NEVER see the need for Christ's righteousness, to be SAVED, if they are left to just see how you live while believing they are right the way they live. They must have light shined on their reprobation of they will remain there seeing no need to come toward the cross, believing they are already there.

Or it is a great way to ensure they see the severity of their beliefs...and that how we do not believe in the same Lord and God. There is a way for the Christian to not shake their hand and yet it come across clearly in a loving way for the false teachers soul.

So you can hang around with fake Christians, and eat with them? No: this verse does not say "with such an one no not to eat at church picnics". It says not to eat:
1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
It's specific things: failing a fruit inspection is not on the list.

She's in this situation sort of.
Her boss said he got baptized about 2 months or so. But his behavior says otherwise.
    .she's very uncomfortable.
Since he made several comments on the way she dresses. .he basically said to show her body parts more.
Do you have any comment or advice on that?
    Thank you

Being baptized doesn't make a Christian. Being born again makes one a Christian. People need to read the Bible to learn about God, Who He Is and what we need to be In Christ. No one is perfect after decades of knowing the Lord. It takes humility before the Lord and others.

I find work the hardest place to act like a true Christian with a bunch of smut talking foreigners. I hope I don't end up in this "false" category, even though with a job that's on the go all the time and 3 15 minute breaks I cannot be called Christlike or unchristlike. There are things I can do better though but not sure how.

We are commanded to lovingly edify and if we give them the truth and they receive it not, we are commanded to turn away from them. Even so, not to even greet them if they claim another gospel as their reasoning for living the way they live. Otherwise, if we do greet them or welcome them we become partakers in their evil deeds. No where, does it mention, if there will be only one, or two, or just three left, then continue to tarry with them. This is not scriptural.

And you are absolutely right it doesn't take very long probably in less than a day you can tell who a real Christian is. We are always the ones who stick out because we're doing what the Bible says. And the female Christian you can find out even faster because of the covering on her head.

I don't believe the deciding factor of wether to obey God's Word and abide in Godly wisdom should be the determination of how many people it will effect, or how many true christians will remain. Because when the Lord Jesus returns, He is not going to look at the MANY that say Lord, Lord, He will STILL say to them, depart from me, I NEVER knew you. Maybe approaching them in a biblical way, and explaining to them they cannot continue in their sin, that it's very possible they are headed for hell if they are comfortable in their sin, this may turn them towards Christ's righteousness and the false converts may be saved if the true christians stop worrying about who, how many, and how it will effect them as well to do what we are commanded to.
