  • False conversion is a major, and sobering, theme in the Bible. How much of a true Christian can a person seem to look like, and in the end turn out to be deceived?

The bare bones of the Christian faith is whom are you fundamentally trusting in the most... "themselves" (own abilities) or "in Christ alone"(what HE has done at the cross). Poor, sick, broken sinners know they need a saviour and so they cling to Christ because they know He is the means of salvation. They are greatly humbled people by the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. They love their Father from the inside out.

A hopelessness consumes me as I write this…I agree with Tim 100%, church won’t fix this, my pastor can’t fix this, only crying endlessly to the Lord to forgive me and open my blind eyes to my ignorance. My short comings, no matter how little or great are separating me from Christ and I as for prayer from any who read this. I must begin the process of selling the things I own that are an idol, a distraction and put Gods word and commands first. I can’t thank Tim enough for his messages and videos. I just wanted to help anyone out there who still had unanswered questions. If you have any worry or fear that you are the one who can’t come to Jesus, that means you still can. If someone is truly done and to hard of heart to come back to repentance then they wouldn’t want to anyways because it is the Holy Spirit that leads you to conviction, and draws you to the Jesus. If the Holy Spirit was gone from you or done with you then you wouldn’t be seeking Jesus out and wanting to be obedient to him. But regardless the answer remains the same regardless of the viewpoint. PRAY TO JESUS. Pray that he give you conviction, that he helps root out sin in your life, leads you to repentance, an helps you be obedient to him in life. Pray about everything to him. And go on and sin no more.

We all fall into dry periods and into sin. During one of these periods, I had a dream that I was talking to a man who Jesus suddenly entered into. At that moment I instantly recognized it was the Lord. He was not pleased with me and began to give me what for. He then turned his back to me and started walking away. I followed him and kept saying "wait wait," but he just kept on walking. In despair I finally said "what can I do?" He stopped. Without looking back at me, he turned his head down and to the left and said "Come after me."
James 4:8 says that if we draw near to God, he will draw near to us. Jesus says in Matthew 16: 24 "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Jesus is going this way ------> ------> -------> Follow him. Go after him.
I knew a guy back in middle school who I referred to as the Jesus freak. Don't get me wrong, I liked the guy but at that time I was an unsaved rebel and this kid was on fire for the Lord! He was the epitome of what you'd think a Christian should look and act like. He had visible joy and delight in Jesus, so much so that I envied him and I wanted what he had. 10 years later when I had become a Christian, I remembered this guy and looked him up on Facebook. I was shocked when he told me he didn't believe in all that Jesus stuff anymore. I tried to convince him to give it another shot but he was completely satisfied in his rejection of Christ. He loved living in sin and was confident in his unbelief. This is an example of one who has "fallen away." One who "went out from us because they were never of us." He has no conviction of sin, no worry of hell and no fear of God. Therefore, I don't think you fell away. You fell into some sin or lukewarmness perhaps, but had you fallen away you wouldn't be at all bothered by it. You'd have no conviction of sin, no fear of God and no worry about salvation/damnation. Mat 24: 13 says "he who endures to the end shall be saved." The guy I told you about is no longer enduring. You on the other hand; "have sever anxiety" and " I'm terrified for my soul" and "truly feel like God has rejected me." Phil 2: 12 says; work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Seems to me that this is what you are doing.
When a Christian isn't living according to how God would have them live, they get chastened because God chastens the ones he loves (Heb 12: 6). So you, being convicted by the holy spirit are suffering. You must also take into account that the devil and his demons will feed all kinds of crap into the minds of Christians to make them feel unsaved even when they are saved. Therefore, we need to be reading the gospel and seeking Christ daily. Being confident of this very thing, that He who begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Phil 1: 6.
As Christians (ESPECIALLY as Christians) we will suffer in our flesh, but God is not going to allow us to have any kind of peace in our spirits until we ---------> go after him.

All these insecurities about how righteous you are actually come from the presence of God. It is impossible to have unrequited love for God, because God is actually trying to be a "pickup artist" to you and attract you back. If this were not so, you wouldn't really care if you sinned or not. So call on His love to forgive and power to sin no more.
Joh 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Do you know what this means? All the sensations of unworthiness, the desperation to get right with God, that "I'm living in sin and I don't like it one bit!" all those emotions are generated in you by God Himself. The good news is that God is drawing everyone who has not made themselves deaf to His calls. Unfortunately, those who are in real danger are the ones who sin their way into oblivion, permanently mentally branding themselves as a sin lover. In the final judgement they'll only be sorry they got caught.

If you are fervently seeking the Lord in prayer, it is only by the power of God, because there are none who seek after God In their own strength. No human does that on their own, so it really can only mean one thing. Also, John MacArthur would say, if you are genuinely bothered by this question in your mind, that's a very very good sign that you are in fact numbered among the elect, because no one who is reprobate has these concerns. @@taylor-bh8re Do you know that Romans 3 is NOT the only chapter in the Bible?? And do you realize that Paul is directly quoting from specific psalms (eg Psalms 14 & 36) in the infamous passages you are citing? Psalms which are referring to "the WICKED", "the WORKERS of INIQUITY" and "the FOOL"!
Obviously there were always Jewish people who feared God! And righteous people too.
And NEVER ONCE is a regenerate Christian in the New Testament described as "unrighteous" 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Of course there are righteous people today i.e regenerate Christians (the only kind: John 1:12-13). The first epistle of John was written to make it clear to people inundated with false teachers (as we are today) that there IS a test to make sure one is saved. And he says, in particular:
"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous" (1 John 3:7).
Why aren't you quoting that verse?? You would be if you hadn't been brainwashed by Calvinist preachers who constantly quote Romans 3 for the sole purpose of validating their theology of man.
You need to approach Scripture yourself instead of being a passive consumer of Calvinist theology: PRAY, READ, STUDY (relying on the HOLY SPIRIT to teach and guide you, as Jesus commands in John 14:26 & 16:13) and THINK.
Even before the Cross, the Resurrection and the full canon of Scripture, there were righteous and blameless people. All through the Psalms, the "righteous" and "wicked/ungodly" are differentiated and you don't need to read far: Psalm 1 (KJV) commends the "RIGHTEOUS"!!!
Here are a couple more out of many Bible verses referencing the Godly, devout, perfect, upright and RIGHTEOUS:
"And they (Zacharias and Elizabeth) were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless" (Luke 1:6)
"There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil" (Job 1:1).

Okay, I've gotten absolutely sick and tired of all this type of preaching. I reject this message by Mr. Conway, IN THE CONTEXT IN WHICH HE'S PREACHING IT. The devil plays on confusion like nobody else. At least 1 poster below has it correct, & I paraphrase, "The fact that you're so concerned about salvation & repentance, etc. means that you are being reached & being called to repent". I'm not sure this man who wrote the letter is a false convert, but sounds like one who's examining himself and finding all sorts of sin. (Repent!) We're commanded to do this! (Repent!) Not only that, but the writer sounds exhausted. Does that mean we can't lose salvation? Of course we can lose salvation, Thessalonians is plain about that; but why would a person be called back and convicted if no other chance is possible? Repent!!!!! The Prodigal Son is very representative of this. The devil doesn't want us to go back, so, confusion is heaped upon us. Look, I'm struggling with the same thing as all below and I'm going back; I don't care what Conway's preaching espouses. ALL of us can pick one thing that Jesus said to do and start doing it. I'm starting again and just reading "the words in red", what Jesus said to do and try to do as much of it as I can, repenting along the way. If I were a man who wanted to start a ministry, try one that nobody seems to be touching, related to this very video. Call it, "Those Who Return". Repentance & Salvation go together, but WE WILL NEVER BE PERFECT! If we stay in the Calvinistic vein, then, Washer does have the right answer to this whole question: ruclips.net/video/UzMId-VgdAM/видео.html

@@shashakeeleh5468 Thanks shashakeeleh, I was going to write something similar and post the same RUclips URL. I have followed pastor Tim for some time, albeit loosely compared to some others, and I am truly shocked at the lack of empathy and the biblical weakness of this message. Sure he is quoting some verses, and not everything he says is wrong, but Paul Washer (your link) has it much more balanced and biblical than Mr. Conway here.
I am not calvinist by the way although I love and respect my calvinist brethren - indeed I consider them my brethrens in faith even though I don't agree 100% with the calvinist TULIP (TULIP = the 5 pillars of calvinism). Here it seems pastor Tim is forcing calvinism onto the Bible. That is, he seems to hold to TULIP more than to the Bible, that is, putting it above the word of God, then interpret the Bible according to TULIP. And he does that in such an insensitive way to the person writing the letter in the first place, ouch! I feel bad for the writer, and I would liken him to the man beating his chest and looking down, asking for forgiveness as a sinner in the parable of Jesus (compared to the pharisee bragging that he's not like the man beating his chest).

@@MrTHEMADGUY I think the pastor is trying to preach on a problem (wheat & tares) that has existed since Christianity began. He might have been successful at it, had he not gone on for so long and not repeatedly wandered from one thought to another. I'm at the point, as are others, I suspect, that when I see a video of his and others running an hour or more, I no longer watch them. You can literally see Conway getting tired and his concentration continuing to fail; his insensitivity might have been due to anger at himself for inability to find the right words to express himself rightly, I don't know. Hearing, as well as preaching The Word can take time and energy to process and "mental wanderings" are too much, even for the dedicated. To All Pastors: 45 minutes, tops, please! It's not that we don't like you, we get tired and disheartened past a certain point; simply put, the message can backfire on everyone. With regard to the letter, I have to consider whether or not the devil would have fought against such a letter and any person attempting such examination; think King David. I get Pastor Conway's point and have now finished expressing mine.

The Lord saved me on June 4th 2023. This day I remember clearly, since, as the standard is for most conversion. It has nothing to do with me whatsoever. There was a huge change. My walk began. I couldn't be more sure, as prayers were answered, the Bible came alive, conviction and connection to the Holy Spirit, progressive Sanctification, love for God, love of people, etc. but, and im not sure exactly how when, as school started, i didnt guard my heart, began the slow poisoning of loving tbe world again, my pride ( which i was warned by God ) also became a growing danger that began affecting my obedience to the Holy Spirit, his leadings and guidences. I started to grieving him, and slowly, my walk began to fall. A very bumpy, on and off between various true repentances and sins, i finally fell to a point where it took a week of hardening before i made it back to God, to the which a week or restoration took place, then more hardening, then leading to the wilderness. Which is where my fall began. All my sins and love of the world begun to eat at everything i had. God's anioting left me, his presence was no longer in constant manifest. I was blindfolded. It wasnt until months later ( during this year ) that i realized just a bit what happened. I begun to wander aimlessly. All my Sanctification began to unfold. Demonic oppression and possession begun to occur. Things that i hadn't remembered since my saving begun to pop in my mind again. Everything, down to my faith in God began to fase slowly, as i cowardly to my own harm accepted those lies of the enemy.
February of this year came. I sat at my desk, stressed from trying to get back to God. Eventually I thought back on all i took for granted, not believing in God during the wilderness, not knowing what was going on ( at that time I was already blinded by my lost of first love, and still at this point i didn't know that i had lost my first love ) I cried. My heart repented from all that i had done. I regeted it all. The next day ( Sunday ) God was there with open arms, having forgave all that i'd done. He offer restoration, to the which demons very quickly pushed away before i could hold it. Mind, this was a trend since the beginning of the wilderness and the demobic oppression, hindering me from recevincg or knowing anything good that would benefit me towards Godly stuff, and any message or blessing or word would i be quickly closed away from. However, i could also blame my self-righteousness for trying to desperately recieve my restoration. It didn't work. But the Lord had forgiven me. So that was the next thing i had to struggle to believe. Forgiveness. A couple of weak faith attempts followed the rest of February and march. A constant struggle. Too many voice, probably countless lies. I kept wandering. Throughout all this though, the most prominent, well known messages ive got from God: I still love you. Which too has a whole story. He still loves me. I dont want to die this way. Away from God. But i still have a love in my heart for sin. If it wasn't there ( this is just my reasoning) maybe i coudl return to a point of restoration? But this could eb ungreatful for the forgiveness or other events i have not described. Recently, ive seen multiple videos, and heard my dad talking about a false conversion. I tried not to believe, but now i cant let the demons fool me. This God's work, not my mine own. Could i be a false covert, if my salvation was not of myself ? If it was God that drawed me to the alter, and took my out of my sin? Im scared for all these comments. Could it really be?

    • @meowdontstudymeow
      @meowdontstudymeow 4 месяца назад

I would also like to add along the way i believe the Lord assured me multiple times, and anioted me one day during a worship session ( im not sure if it was a baptism of the Holy Spirit, since i dont fully understand what that is, but i guess yoy could call it one, but my life took a second massive change. ) Also i've recived multiple leadings, and baptisms of the spirit, brekaing of chains, freedom from sin, and even able to rebuke spirits, but i know that even those who do those things could not know God. Ive been and experienced his presence, intense hunger and thristing for God, and even the Lord in many messages he has sent for me assured that im just a backslider, not a false covert. Could a backslider become a false convert? Could the enemy be trying to scare me through true preachers and pastors who intended this for someone else? I shouldve went to the Lord about this first, i think i prayed about it too.

1 Peter 1:13 - "So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world."
Don't ever let our enemy convince you that your Savior is your enemy.
Let's all take very seriously the command to build each other up as we see the Day approaching. Christ means for us to stand together as the treasure _very_ hard-fought for by the family at large to win for Him -- a people without blemish or defect for the praise of His Glory. Christ is all and is in all. We have no other hope, and we lack nothing in Him.

Oh how easy to be enticed by worldly things and the devil can convince us it’s ok to participate in certain things. We have to keep enduring and not be cowards and stand firm. It’s such a process to let go of things. Worldly music and lust of my eyes is still a struggle for me. I’m finally letting go of the rock music which is so seductive and pleasant sound. And being careful where I go and what I look at as a single Christian male. Great message.

If you doubt your salvation, return to the start, which is, repentance and faith and trust in Christ alone. Get your eyes off of works and on Christ. He alone is the answer, yes even for those doubts of whether or not you are genuine. Give it to Christ, cast all your care upon Him for HE cares for YOU (1Pet. 5:6). Of course, if you espouse Calvinism, you’ll probably have trouble taking this passage at face value. However, Calvinism is just simply wrong. The fact is, a Calvinist is forced to look for experiences to verify if they are the loved by God or not, they cannot take passages like 1Pet. 5:6 at face value KNOWING that Christ cares and loves you, having died for the whole world. I reject Limited Atonement! It is not found in scripture! I can read scripture therefore and know with certainty that my name is among the ones to whom Christ has died, loves and cares for because I am among the WHOLE world. My faith therefore can simply be in the Words of Christ and not some experience by which I seek to know if I’ve been chosen. I love my Calvinist brothers but I pity them on this point.

many months I did not ask the right questions to the friend I've long suspected was a false convert. Why? its easier to not confront and believe a fantasy about that friend being a brother: questions. 1. testimony of a season where drastic changes. 2. love of Jesus and Scriptures more than anything else: has peace, joy and rivers of life from fearing God instead of worldly anxiety, fear and worldly sorrows.. 3. Fruit in keeping with repentance: loves repentance, loves holiness, actually does change, all of the fruit of the Holy Spirit dominate character. Definition of grace is unto holiness and not an excuse to keep sinning and being driven by worldly anxiety, fears of other people's affections, and sorrowful of self pity, self regret, self loathing, self grieving the loss of worldly relationships, things, position. Want to love your friend? gently share the Truth instead of soft fake-love pretending they are on a journey that shows no sign of true repentance. Grace makes no sense without understanding it requires real repentance which comes from showing the Laws of God. Not works but fruit: Titus 2:11 grace is for godliness and not excuses to keep sinning

I prayed for repentance from a certain since I've been dealing with for years in a very specific manner and it was done. Once I let go of trusting my own personal will and instead trusted Jesus and his ability the sin was defeated. Even though pray every day that he helps you resist temptation. I hope this helps you.

G'day, Pastor Tim! Starting at 6:51, you speak of a person who has come under influence of the Holy Spirit upon hearing a convicting sermon, yet "they get to a place where it's impossible to repent." In Jesus' parable about the sower and the seed, would this type of person fit the mold of the seed that landed possible on the rocky soil?
Oh, when you had someone read Luke 8:13 about the seed falling onto rocky ground and falling away, I thought to myself, "That answers my question about the seed in the parable."

There is absolutely no indication of a person "coming up short" in HEBREWS 6 text, UNTIL they fall away.
The writer of the letter gave up on God before he could do a continuous work in him. He decided to serve sin, rather than to die to it. He left Satan a foothold.
Also, did it ever occur to anyone that as we are all different, that we have our unique styles of worshipping God? There are many ways to worship God.

have you ever read the context of Mathew 7
do you know he is talking about false prophets let's read it together and see the context which is about false prophets and how we can know them by their fruits that would be the doctrines they speak if they are of God or not.
      Mathew 7
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow isthe way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. note
15 BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS, WHICH COME TO YOU IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 YE SHALL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
SO WE SEE THAT IF SOMEONE COMES PREACHING THAT YOU ARE SAVED BY GRACE BUT IF YOU HAVE NO WORKS YOU'RE GOING TO HELL, THATS ANOTHER GOSPEL, SALVATION IS BY FAITH APART FROM WORKS.

You cant "fall away" if you were never in. "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling". "Persevere to the end"! He is talking about a man who repented, was baptized, and received the Holy Spirit. That is what Peter told the Romans they must do to be saved. What I believe is what makes sense. A saved person CAN walk away from their faith. The NT is littered with warning passages about abiding.

@@frankcrawford416 "Why is it impossible to renew them onto repentance, because they are already saved" don't give me that garbage this is not a game you know. If you keep reading to Hebrews 6:8 you would conclude that the saved person would end up being burned. That doesn't sound very saved to me. Destroyed by incineration vs everlasting life. If they were already saved, then they would already be renewed unto repentance and this text would not be a warning.
Why is my preaching of the devil? Me telling you could be lost makes no difference to your salvation if it's not true. The devil is trying to lead people to being "cursed and burned". If my teaching is of the devil, then acting upon it must cause you to end up in the lake of fire. If acting upon my teaching e.g. putting away sin can lead you to damnation, then that also contradicts your teaching.
If someone puts away sin and is saved and someone else does not put away sin and is still saved, then my words don't make any difference to their case.
If someone with relatively lukewarm faith did not put away sin because they listened to your teaching and were lost, thinking they were saved. If they listened to mine and learned to respect God's salvation, grew more and more christlike and were saved, then that is a win.

What statement of Tim's makes you conclude, "we must stop sinning in order to be saved"? If you can leave a timestamp of the exact place, I can provide some clarity, because in no way is the Bible teaching that. Those who focus on trying to stop sinning in order to be saved are doing nothing more than a works salvation (Gal. 3:10, Romans 4:5). At the same time those who say they are believers and live a life of sin are deceiving themselves (1 John 1:6, Ephesians 5:5-6, 1 Cor 6:9). Yet if I am a person who is deceiving myself and I realize I am deceived, that does not mean my response to my deception is to try to stop sinning... no, no, no! That means my response is to go to CHRIST and He will save me from both sin's penalty (my legal problem) and sin's power (in internal problem of a bad heart).

Your own consciousness, awareness of good and evil, ability to think and reason is all evidence of God's existence.

As a result they are much better informed about religion than the vast majority of theists. You are making claims that many other theists use which do not stand up to scrutiny. I suggest you do the same thing I did and actually, honestly, study the arguments you put forward. For example, ou ability to think is the result of evolution, our morality is the result of our evolved sense of fairness and altruism (which other social species share) plus the development of moral standards as society evolves. Morality is an ever changing set of values (which is why ancient 'moral' guides like the Bible and the Qoran are filled with so many commandments that are deeply immoral to modern eyes). Please do not preach at someone who has looked into these issues in great depth. Have the courage to ask yourself the hard questions, do the study and be honest enough to accept the results.

@@Matthew_Holton this is not a question of denominations or anyone in the church. But what are you doing about Christ, the living breathing loving Holy person? Do you long to imitate His ways?
I'm someone who did this and lied to myself, using - like you an "evolution of the gaps" argument. It sounded wise, smart and scientific on the surface, but my folly was exposed by my emotional reaction to good and evil, even what is esteemed in society today - such as abortion, no fault divorce, and sleeping around. I could see the "every man for himself" attitude invading me and it took a lot to fight it. The secular mindset took the focus off myself, and even though I was brought up in a Christian home, I never allowed Christ to inspire me properly, yet why did it still bother me when people sang "Jesus can't play rugby cause He's got holes in His hands"? In fact, why do people still use Jesus' name as a swear word at all? Why does this name come back to the tongues of irreligious people for a moment just to swear in frustration? Is there some kind of evolutionary drive where people who used Jesus' name as a swear word passed on their genes or lived longer?
I also took a look at the modern world and how it is designed to fade Christ into oblivion - as if by a master saboteur. From everything from the mystery of the disappearing Sabbath day, to the TV and promoted music, to Cardi B and her Wet Ass Pussy, to Louie Vega telling me never to question my morality, to land mines on some of the biblical archaeology sites. And now even the most basic truths are being questioned, such as can you change your gender? And yet STILL I feel the resistance to living the Christian life which in the words of Spock is "highly illogical".
And that's the thing, no humans logic and reason as well as they think they do, but are prone to cognitive dissonance. As Christ challenges me to work through internal issues, there are days I just want to put this off and go watch videos about bicycles and hi-fi and make a nice stack of pancakes.

Here's my issue with this kind of message, more out of ignorance to be clear:
This sounds far more like becoming truly saved is absolutely out of your control, in fact, you don't even get to choose. So if you surrender you life to Christ and let's say it's genuine, then 30 years down the track you fall into sin or a season of sin due to all kinds of scenarios, you'd be cursing yourself for choosing sin? Based on this assumption, you exhibited a fruit that shows you are a Heb 6 'false convert' correct? The circular argument here is "If you are truly saved, you will exhibit fruits consistent of someone who is truly saved. However, you can exhibit the same fruits but you can also be an 'almost christian'" so to speak.
So it sounds, simply put, there's no way you can know? Not only I can't choose Him, I can't even repent properly, I can't exhibit enough fruits to be saved, even if I were to trust Christ with all my heart, I still end up sinning inevitably. There's no joy, there's no assurance, there's no sense that I can look forward to seeing my Saviour or heaven because I can't repent or choose Him enough.
I honestly don't know how many times I can repent and give my life to Christ, I'm sitting here with nothing but anxiety about eternity because it's apparently impossible to truly repent correct?
No pastor I know locally can answer this question for me clearly. I'm getting so disheartened to the point where even following Christ is nerve-wracking. Seems that no matter how much I cry out to Him, no matter how much I put effort, all I see is "Oh, you better stop sinning. Oh, too late, you had a lustful thought. Woops! You shouted at your wife, or your kids or your parents. Oh dear, you had hateful anger against your parents for about 4.5 minutes that time in the car when you were ruminating. Oh by the way, you're not saved. But you still need to repent otherwise God will punish you and send you to hell. Oh and don't forget, you can still have all the possible fruits of salvation but you might also still not be saved. Sorry."
Sorry I had to rant like this but I've felt so unassured for so long, almost 26 years. Don't know how many times I get into seasons of sin as a coping mechanism for all kinds of stress, tribulation or temptations. It's getting to the point where I'm so exhausted trying to call out to Christ my cries are getting more and more feeble. I know I'm never good enough so Jesus is the only one I cling to. Now I'm told nnnnnope! He can still reject you and He would be just. You will never be good enough, you're a sinner and you need Jesus. Except 'you' can't choose Him, He has to choose you and manifest those fruits because if you do it on your own human effort, you're a false convert.
How depressing... I'm so sad just thinking about the end of my life.
Anyone who can help that would be helpful. Thanks.

Well, we are never told to measure our repentance. That’s keeping our eyes on ourselves and not Christ. His perfect obedience to the Father is more than enough to cover any disobedience that you commit. Do you trust this? If you do, the you won’t be disappointed (Rom 10:12).
Christ says repent and believe. He doesn’t say be more repentant and believe harder then you’ll be saved. Recognize you sinned then turn to Him. He fulfilled the requirement of the Father.
I know it’s hard brother (or sister), I struggle too. But Christ can and will bring comfort. Hope this helps and I hope you’re ok :)

Trust in the finished work of Jesus, and the gracious heart of the Almighty God. The striving, the endless cycle you describe, is a demonic trap. Trust in Jesus. His work on the cross, His resurrection, His faithfulness. Rest. You will not repent perfectly. You will not have perfect faith. You will not have a perfect life. Your entire job is to trust in Him, and rest in His work, not your own. Or your solutions to your endless mental and emotional cycles. Or the perfect heart in yourself you hope to find one day but never will. Trust Him, walk in light of that trust, confess your sins and trust His cross is sufficient to cover them, and He is faithful and righteous to forgive them. Continue THAT cycle, and rest in it. Stop descending into the deep caverns of your heart, and re-traversing your inevitably confusing walk to find assurance. Look to Jesus, and rest.

I cannot fully describe how your words resonate in me. I really feel for you and your inner battles because I was (and sometimes still am) through that vicious thought cycle too. You are also a great example of how twisted these basic Calvinist claims are in real life. Does it still sound to you as a gospel = good news? Are you longing for sharing these "good news" with others? Or does it lead you to such a miserable state that you don't even want to live anymore? Doesn't Jesus say "my yoke is easy and burden is light" and Apostle Paul "rejoice in the Lord always"? If there is not even room for joy anymore it's the excellent sign that this kind of message isn't from the Spirit of God but some other nasty spirit that loves to stir inner havoc and hopelessness in people. It's often sad to watch that he uses religious people for that purpose.

I’m so sorry. I’ve felt this way before, it’s awful. I still struggle with anxiety so much. But I know I need to look to Christ. It’s him. It’s all him. Pastor Tim Conway has always been confusing to me. I struggle to understand anything he says, he just repeats Paul washer a lot. Listening to Paul washer he makes things incredibly simple and clear. Tim talks a lot about what a Christian is supposed to be. Paul Washer talks about Christ. Look up Paul washer on Gods love.

The thing to realize, people, if you are genuinely concerned, it means you have hope.
Unbelievers do not seek after God unless God draws them, and that is for the purpose of salvation. The Bible tells us that.
The Bible also tells us that it is God who draws us to him
A person on their own will not seek God, as they are dead in their sins. Only through God calling them can they even desire God.
You also need to understand predestination. God predestined everyone who will be glorified, and it is a gift from God. He will not lose a one of his chosen. Once saved, you are forever saved. There are loads of verses confirming eternal security.
Therefore, if God started a work in you by drawing you to Him, then rest assured that He will complete it to the day of glorification, which is what the Bible tells us. That is, he chose who would be saved, He gave those who would be saved to Jesus. He calls you to Himself, you respond and call on the name of the Lord, He justifies you, and later will glorify you at the second coming of the Lord.
Thus, do not live in fear. If you ever genuinely believe that you felt God drawing you to Him, and if you were sincere in faith and believed in Jesus, then it is a done deal.
God does not want those in Him to live life in fear of damnation and lack of assurance. However, you should test yourself to see if you are in the faith, and looking for fruit through sanctification is one of those signs. You have been sealed if you are truly one of his. Stop worrying and trust God and His promises.

Faith is trust in God and Jesus that supersedes all logic and reason; do you think the three men who were going to be burned in nebuchadnezzars furnace had any reason to believe that God would spare them from being burned up? Remember that the furnace was right Infront of them and yet they were ready to face their fear by their faith in God. yet they cried out to God and he delivered them even though they were sure of their deaths. in the same way you should cry out to God even though another form of furnace blazes before you. despite every sense of logic and reason and every fiber of your being is convinced that there is no hope left for you this is exactly the moment when you should cry out to God as did those three men. and just as how they were thrown into that furnace, nevertheless God was with them and shielded them from the flames. In the same way you must cry out to God when you feel doubt. remember that i said that God did not prevent them from entering that furnace but that God prevented them from suffering harm. by faith you can receive Gods protection by refuting the devil when he tempts you to doubt. for you the furnace and its flames are your worries and doubts but have faith in God and he will deliver you unharmed and safely out of the furnace. i hope this helps you in some way

That makes no sense, salvation is about having faith in Jesus alone, not in your works or in what you do but in what he has done. Please take time to understand what faith in Christ is, those who say Lord, Lord do not have a relationship with God, its not true saving faith because they don't believe in His finished work.
