Wow, 40 seconds is insane for an ungoverned engine without upgrades. They're built tough!

I wonder how long it could last with oil in it. I had one on a gokart a couple years ago and I would leave it fully pinned all the way to my friends house. He was like 3 miles away and I never had issues. Just over time it got alot less powerful on the hills between his house and mine

Good question, if I come across another cheap engine I'll give it a try.

Under a min. As I figured lol. This last winter I was a dumbass and didn't check the oil in my kohler K301 on my wheelhorse. We had just gotten 10 inches of snow and I had the snow lock attachment on it. The engine is 45 years old and is worn but still runs great. But after 8 hours of wide open running with the exhaust glowing and it running out of oil it noe smokes abit more than it did before. Idk how it didn't blow up but. Nobody makes them as tough as kohler did back in the day

Those old K-series engines were tough old motors. They can take serious abuse and keep running. I just had a John Deere 212 with a K301 come in the shop and what was thought to be a blown head gasket was the rings being so worn that there was a flat spot on the sides of the piston and I could see the rings right through it. Amazingly the engine still ran (albeit pretty terribly). Scored cylinders and all. It is a testament on how bulletproof those old cast iron motors really were. I was dumbfounded that it would even run after seeing the piston move side to side in the cylinder just by pushing it with my hand.

Can you tell me why exactly it blew up? Because I have mine blow up on me in the exact same spot but mine was modded to make it go about 35mph on a mini bike

Blew up from lack of oil, extreme heat and friction made the rod explode

Hey I have a predator 212 prolly someone can answer or help me with this lol
I let my friend ride my mini bike with the predator engine he removed the governor
Idk what he did exactly but it isn't starting there's spark but he said he blew it up I'm thinking he held the throttle out for too long idk 😐 exactly 💯
But also it's hard to crank pullstart is there an easy fix

The governor was installed at the factory for a reason. These engines aren’t meant to go beyond 3600 rpm’s without modifications

Yes it's loud with the header because of the springs. Obvisley that makes scene.

I’ll tell you what’s really annoying when you have a large per that was running for 30 minutes and you keep pulling the cord pulling the cord pulling the court and won’t start and you put carbs spray and runs for two seconds and then it doesn’t run at all and all it was was a bloody gas cap Toyota engine apart
