I'm super relieved the show looks as awesome as it does from the trailer! Can't wait to see how the armour is in it, studios often do the bit pretty badly so here's hoping it's good in this :> It looks like the designers were inspired by mogami dou, with the multiple long plates and lacing. Interested about the texture on it tho, wonder if the designers just thought it looked cool or were maybe inspired by the textured lacquer seen on Japanese armour!
I am so happy you made this video because I have seen (and note they are entitled to their opinions) so many reactors crapping on the costumes and I personally disagree with that opinion and agree with yours. I think they're beautiful and actually quite grounded in real world inspiration and historical and cultural styles of clothing. And I also agree with you that the vibrancy is gorgeous as well and I love it! Thank you again for making this video and pointing out how based in the real world these outfits are.
Awe, thanks! It could also be that a lot of people just aren't used to seeing color this way in film, especially historical colors. Avatar has always been so well designed because it has a basis in real life. I found the oranges very startling at first but then reminded myself that it's real monk colors! Then i became excited because it pushing myself to enter worlds i'm not used to seeing! Thanks for the comment.
Congratulation you did a good job
wonderful cosplay! it's nice hearing production designers talk about their craft
I love the analysis! You always hone in on details I would never notice and it's super interesting. You did an amazing job!

Mogami style was very prevalent in the edo transition from battlefields to canvases for armor. Interesting that they added haidate (thigh guards)
