A History of Daphne, Scooby-Doo, & Cultural Movements (Who is Daphne Blake?)

This Documentary took a while to make and once I commit to something I always have to do it right. Which is one of the reasons why this project has gone on for so long. BUT I am so excited to reveal the DAPHNE COSPLAY next time. That video is wayyy faster to edit than this one lol. I love Daphne from Zombies Island and Witchs Ghost. Shes my definitive Daphne.
It is so good! The video and the final product 💜
Why? What's going on with your hair?
I’m blown away by your talent and creativity. This is amazing. I love all the looks you chose for Daphne. If the Netflix live action will take place during the late 60s, the production should give you a call. Your mom just nailed the hair, it just looks so beautiful. 💜💜💜💜
you made it! between all the many mockups and iterations it feels so surreal that she's finally here. I love the dress itself, but honestly the magazine spread and all those outfits may be my favourite part. can't wait for what come next :)
the wardrobe is to die for!!!! the finals results came out amazing good job kartsie:)
I was Daphne at a Halloween metal show my band played! I worked it!
The final result looks incredible! I especially love all of the additional looks you pulled together for her wardrobe.
I commend you on taking us on your journey and passion in making your Daphne Blake cosplay, you are sew goal and videography goals I am hoping to reach this level of execution, congratulations 🙇👏🫶🥳👸🏻
yayy my notifications actually gave me something i had been excited for
Happy New Year's Mrs Kartsie also great job for making Daphne's classic outfit💜
I've been very inspired by your whole series! I love all the hard work you've put into making each outfit, and appreciate all the research you've done. I want to try my own research for a specific thing I like, but I'm not really sure where to start. How do you go about finding examples or historical references for things? If you're curious, I'm trying to nail down what kind of stuff the cast of TF2 is wearing, or what their equivalents would be from the late 60s-70s. There's a good chance their kit could've come from stuff from much earlier, but I'm not really sure. Also figuring out what materials/patterns would make sense.
I tend to start by making a list of things the character is wearing and finding the names for the clothing. Then, think about what types of people or jobs the clothes might have been used or worn by to help you start finding examples. The more words you can come up with to help you with search engines, the better. And look at Museum archives and online databases! Hope that helps.
It’s a uhh idk his name but like the skull dude SPACE KOOK, that’s my final answer
Happy New Year!
Made it to the end of the video? Tell me your guesses below! :D
I'm gonna guess it's one of the original monsters they come across. Based off the difficulty of making a suit of armor, getting access to a diving suit, and likely avoiding lots of practical effects and makeup or potential insensitivity, I'd hazard a guess and say The Creeper?
NOOO!! Why did I tear up a little, Scooby-doo's been a special interest of mine for as long as I can remember and this was SO GOOD!
She’ s my crush was and still is
Daphne is my favorite character in Scooby doo Love you dafne
I don’t remember colored pantyhose being any kind of thing. A sheer vaguely whitish color made your legs look thinner. Black was for evening. Mostly we wore skin tone.Tall women bought queen size and put them on under undies to keep them from dragging down. I don’t remember ever seeing pink or blue or anything like that.
I loved a Pup Named Scooby-Doo. I also prefer the older seasons. As an older millennial the late 90s Series was always hit or miss with me. I enjoyed your take on Daphane.
Why does this make me want to cry? 😂
They look like ken and barbie😊😊
Great video thanks for posting
How have I been alive this long without knowing that Daphne had a confirmed last name . . . do the others have last names as well?? How have I never thought about this
All of them have confirmed last names but we didn’t get them until the 80s/90s. Shaggy Rogers Daphne Blake Velma Dinkley Fred Jones
@fantasyfiction101 wait I totally forgot that I already knew Velma Dinkley 😂 thank you sometimes my brain doesn’t work
I love her so much
Great job at making your cosplay as a kyoshi warrior. You're an expert at making cosplays !
I was like 9 or something when I watched Zombie island and freaked me out. I cried.
Looks like some parts could also be used for a Mulan (Ping) cosplay if you wanted it to.
The behind the scenes sneak peaks with the Scooby-Doo doo original mysteries was amazing 🖤 that and the laugh-O-lympics
The 80s jumpsuit look for Daphne also brings to mind the April O'Neill character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Though whether one inspired the other and in which direction is another question to pursue.
In my great grandmother's copy of Nancy Drew, the OLD blue cloth covers, Nancy is described as having strawberry blond hair, that's blond leaning toward red. That makes me wonder if the author wanted red hair and the editor resisted.
Hear me out: Daphne being able to put up a fight, BUT she cannot always win E.G: She kinda dances around the attacker while doing small hits, using unconventional weapon like her ascot to protect/defend herself
this video essay makes me appreciate Daphne and the IP even more now. thank you.
My head canon Daphne has her as sort of like a more fashionable Dana Scully minus the medical degree, and as a reporter rather than an FBI agent. As for the fighting, I don't know that it does fix the dynamics, it's cool in a cartoon, but for the character, Judo throwing that Zombie could have been handled more creative given she doesn't have a build like Brienne of Tarth.
I've been looking for videos analysing daphne for a while now; I LOVE daphne cause despite being made fun of she doesn't let it bring her down: She's a feminine woman that cares about fashion and looks yet is smart and creative. Current media likes to teach us that pretty girls are shallow, weak and dumb and that to be smart and strong you have to let go of ur feminity and it's honestly really toxic daphne shows us that you can be both pretty AND smart and I absolutely love her for it; she's a great model for young girls I admired her sm as a young girl and I still do. <3
people said i looked like her w the purple headband lolll
💜💜💜
this makes me want to watch all scooby doo content since 1969. I've only watched one movie a year ago
i found one of the 1930s movies in the thrift store on dvd, nancy drew- reporter. its a real romp :3
Daphne Blake is the outgoing the pretty confident girl. Velma is the bookworm who is ahead of the Scooby gang.
Are you really saying "expecially"?
While Velma is the superior intellect... Daphne is gifted with imagination and people skills...she represents the humanity of her team
The sexualization bit is a stretch. But otherwise a good video.
Not me (25, as of typing this) having an existential crisis with this video essay.
I really enjoyed watching Daphne kick ass, but my heart was always for Velma! She’s adorkable and can be so very sassy!
I loved this I love to see more of these types of videos 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💗💗💗💗
As I get older I’m surprised at how deep all five of the main cast can be if you simply look beyond their surface level characteristics. Even Fred has more going on that just being a dumb hot guy.
💜
I would like to think that as Daphne grew up she would learn to be prepared for most things given her prior clumsiness. I carry a whole bag with me with pretty much anything I would need based on my proclivity to be forgetful and clumsy. It has totally changed people's perception of me!
Underrated video 💕
