    Wajeeh, no offense to your mom but why does she keep insisting that you boys fill the void that your dad has left in her heart??? It's not your job to give her the marital love that she doesn't get from her husband. Sons are not substitute husbands. At 17:35, the way she demanded you show her the same amount of affection that you show your wife is a bit problematic for many reasons and is something that can create a lot of conflicts between her and your wife in the future. I have been happily married for more than a decade so believe me when I say that you have to put your spouse before everyone else. I have seen many marriages ending cos people were unable to do that.

    Really enjoyed this podcast your mum is a true romantic! I think a lot of the time mum in laws who have not received affection from their own husband find it harder to see their sons being affectionate and putting their wife first.
    There’s always that complex a MIL from an unhappy marriage will have.

    This is the best episode because you guys said it straight there’s a difference between Islam and culture! And how people are valuing the cultural ideologies instead of following what Islam tells us! Soo I’m glad this was a convo that happened and Inshaa Allah I hope to see more episodes like this!

    As attached as Mama Jee is, she's super intelligent and brilliant, Wajeeh. It may take some time for her to find balance, but her willingness to always learn and grow as a person, and the kind of friendship and emotional support she gives, is absolutely everything. Please always maintain this with her. And don't be hesitant to share and be open with her on things. No matter how contrasting a topic is, she's always listened. She's always there. She just has her own style of talking lol but I love it 😂❤

    I was in Mexico and they had a wedding and we came across one of the elderly men waiting on a golf cart to get to the wedding. Omg his kindness and personality are unforgettable. We laughed so much. As the golf carts came by with the rest of the wedding party it was an incredible sight. The gowns and jewelry were beautiful. The culture that we were so blessed to see was beautiful. I wanted to be part of the wedding it was so beautiful. We were told they had around 200 people attending and they were all at the resort we were at. It’s beautiful to see family stick to their cultural ways as far as the way they celebrate one another! Beautiful!!!

Oh and when Mama jee said when your dad comes home he don't greet her he goes to the bathroom with phone and stays long time I laughed 😅my husband is same way so many similarities in all your videos to his culture in Tunisia in your videos

    I love everything your mum said, my mum has mixed culture and islam and I have tried to re-educate her about all this too (we're from the UK). My mum is traditional and she too had the fear of what people would say if she agreed to a simple marriage. Even though Islam is about simplicity. Her friends had lavish weddings not necessarily quality weddings but a lot happening), huge pact out halls, with hundreds of guests, up until Covid hit. Covid really brought people back to the Islamic way for doing weddings (Nikkah and small Walima's). I agree with Wajeeh that I would want an Intimate wedding but that doesn't mean it has to be cheap, it can be beautiful but you can spend a little more on lets say decor, your clothes or food but in a small venue with only immediate family etc. Or people who are close to you. Your mum is also right, Islam states about a Nikah, for the bride to go to her husbands house possibly consummate the marriage (doesn't happen for everyone but thats okay, the point is she spent the night with her husband), then the reception or Walima takes place to celebrate the marriage.

    Mama jee is good and all but papa jee!...definitely the best. He was awesome!, chill, funny, caring, no pokes towards her...he struggled!, he deserves those parathas...give him a break though, everyone has different ways of showing love and affection, his love language isn't the same as hers and thats okay. His way of showing is clearly through effort and hard work....that needs to be given more.

    After watching your Dad’s podcast. My perception for your Mom changed drastically. Even though there was a brief mentioning of her her how they met & got married.
    I’m so surprised to know how strong, caring , progressive & educated she is. She came to US by herself & that was a big deal back then. Now I think your mom fakes her insecurities for you. She cares but she’s learning to slowly letting go too. She’s very progressive & always supporting you & your sublings. I believe she will not be a controlling toxic MIL. Infact now I feel she will be very cool stylish wonderful MIL. I hope she gets more & more secure and that would be a wonderful dynamics.

    • @ayesharashid6862
      @ayesharashid6862 Год назад +3

      I think the answer to your question depends on whether you are a religious person or not. If you value your relationship with Allah above everything else in your life, then it will definitely matter to you. But if you aren’t religious and don’t value your relationship with Allah, then it isn’t going to make much of a difference to you who your partner is. Rest we all know ourselves best from the inside 🤷‍♀️

    • @liyum03
      @liyum03 Год назад

      @@ayesharashid6862 i get your point. But my fundamental question is why does religion/god segregates humans into “us” and “them”. Why are there so many barriers, regulations and rules for who to love but no such strict sanctions on who to hate? Why does religion put so much restriction on who to love but not on hate? Of course one might say it equally teaches not to hate but why is it not a strict sanction as it is with love? I wish religion/god had strict sanctions and restrictions on hate like it has for love.

    Even tho I am not a mom but from what I have seen the reason the moms get jealous cuz firstly it might be something they didn't see from their husbands or they r told to serve him rather vise versa, so like that the mom finds that love in their sons most of the mamas boy r the ones whose mom might get the missing attachment and love from them. So for this situation you need to show both of them love cuz if he becomes more closer to wife the mothers get jealous cuz women have that nature of jealousy especially sharing people they get alot of love from. Thus for this situation its up to the men to balance between the mother and wife to show both of them love and also for the wife to make a good relationship with the mother so they see each other as friends not a competition.

    The reason that family may make such comments as to when the husband shows affection to the wife is not because they don’t know how much the son or brother had love for them but Because if we see him showing love to the wife you would think why has he never SHOWN love to me no matter how big or small he’s never done that for me and we have a deeper relationship connection. It’s like for instance you have a best friend you guys have known each other since childhood HES never been affectionate or hasn’t shown his love to you as much but it’s ok cus you thinks that’s how he is but then he gains a separate friend and as time goes on they know each other for a year or two and you see him show soooo much love to his other friend like he’d hug him or whatever would you not feel like damn or a little bit hurt or jealous as much as we don’t want to admit it but this all depends on how much the man can balance the affection when infront of family and ALSO advice to men never compare your wife or future wife to your sister or anyone else. Another point being let’s say the best friend point your best friends other friend is being prioritised more than you. It all comes down to that. Love the things you guys talk about really gets me thinking 😭😭😭
