I own 2 of these. The lock stick goes away after a day of playing with it. There was a break in period for my knife. Also, the very first thing that needs to be done to the knife right out of the box is to disassemble it and clean all of the grease off the blade and the bearings. The multi row bearings feel like ultem to me and were full of oil/grease which in my opinion contributed greatly to the "mushy" feel you are describing. I replaced them with Skiff bearings and the "sluggish" feeling is gone. My knife is perfectly centered and nearly drop shut. It sounds like yours might have some issues....maybe carry it for a few days and let it break it in. I can tell you right now...that they may have made 2000...only 1999 can be "like new" because I'm definitely carrying 0806 of 2000.
With the knife closed look to see how deep the detent ball sits in the detent hole. Ive found that light detents usually means the ball isnt sitting deep enough so with a diamond cone shaped dremel bit you can fix detent strength. Just go slow so as not to get detent lash.
On several knives I have had the best luck increasing detent strength by enlarging the hole in the blade that the ball sits in. Just a tiny bit makes a big difference.
Mine has no lock stick thankfully. My only gripe is that I wish the detent was stronger, although mine is not weak enough to be a dealbreaker. Better when broken in for sure. I had the photos done and ready to post it for sale, and changed my mind at the last minute. Still glad that I kept it. I have Skiffs on the way, which I can only imagine will make me like it more. Maybe a BGM hollow in the future.
So if detent ball is not seated in hole 100% there is lots one an do before trying to bend lock bar. Just hold against light in closed position to see if detent ball is seated nicely. If not check detent hole for burr or dirt 1st that might prevent ball from sitting in. If ok then check position of were blade stops against stop pin in close position, can slightly sand down blade a bit till ball sits 100, this makes biggest difference to detent strength.
I have #0215. I did get lock stick right out of the box it went away after 10 minutes of fidgeting with it. Detent seems fine to me. I'm also very used to Italian knives so it is pretty much exactly as I expected it to be.
