I agree with you. I learned more from RUclips than I ever did at University, but that has a lot to do with independent learning and the fact a tutor can't really compare with an endless sea of online resources. Kudos to content creators like this though :D
I have watched a couple of your tutorials and I have to say, no matter how old, they're still relevant & really helping me understand how maya works. Thank you so much
Thank you ZoNe Films. I appreciate it! I try to keep them short and sweet so viewers like you can maximize their time and find what they are looking for. :)
thank u thank u thank u! not only I learned how to create a glass material but also was able to resolve the issue I had with the desactivation of opaque in arnold
Thank you for the sub, Belmont! I appreciate your support. :) Don't worry, even the professionals feel like morons with the softwares. I've been there. Just takes practice! :)
Well impressed. I've been scrawling around searches and websites for collectively about 6 hours to try and sort out my transmission issues. THANK YOU!!!! :)
Thankyou for such detailed one, though, could you please share how shadows also get effected in such way that real glass materials give, I really need that.. thankyou again
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Im from Spain, but not from Linares, thats just my surname :) I had a very important asignment for university and I had to teach myself how to use arnold, so your vídeos really helped me a lot.
Thanku for the opaque option As my materials inside the glass get darks render output and I was trying everything I think it was due to some colour defect in material but it was the glass . Just close the opaque and done 👍👍
your tutorials are a life saver :-) sucks that i'm paying thousands to essentially teach myself without the aid of a professor (which seems to be an issue with a lot of animation students!?) but videos like this are straightforward and easy to follow. thank u!
I'm so glad You use such old arnold here. Could You please point to us, how to change transmittance depth in Arnold 4 :? ( Fog bias effect from vray. )

Outstanding video as always Monica, two things, however: 1. Your link to the 3D file leads to your website front page, not to the video of glass. ;) 2. It would be really nice to know your lighting setup for the videos, since trying this ourselves in our scenes we've absolutely no chance to mimic the lighting :(
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Your welcome. Can you make a tutorial of creating a window pane on a house with a little glare reflection on it? I searched and can't find one

Hi this was a great tutorial. I request you to create a detailed tutorial on how to render multiple aov's including light groups for comp. Also a tutorial on new render layer setup. Appreciated all your efforts.
Hi thank you for this. I have been currently texturing a glass jar and was unsure where to plug the maps in Maya as I have some dust on the glass and scratches. Thank you again.
Thank you making things so easy .Your tutorials are always very helpful, tho I have a question: how do we enable the RGBA-denoise AOV in Arnold render view, or Beauty is the only default?
for what do i need to use the "weight" option in "base"? at first of the tutorial i thought it was because all glasses must be with weight, but then you used it to help the scratches texture to be white, im a ,little bit confused hehe
I'm so glad it helped, Khairool. By the way, if you want to get pre-released content, updates on workshops, free models, and more, please sign up for my newsletter. www.academicphoenixplus.com/

@@AcademicPhoenixPlus i'm here making windows for a manor and girl, you just saved my life! 🙏 Learning Arnold's interface is so painful, especially since i've been doing mental ray for 5 years now. And things are sooo different with Arnold...
Great video, really helpful! One question, if I wanted to render stained glass like the ones in a church, how can I do that? I’m trying but it renders completely transparent, ignoring my image file
Thanks for this awesome video! Question: in this scene if you were to turn the aiskydome off for the render by turning the Camera slider all the way down in its settings, how could you also make it so that the aiskydome image also doesnt show up in the glass and only uses the lighting so the aiskydome is nowhere to be seen but still lights the glass? Thanks!
Hi Jhonatan, thank you for your comment. The glass appears to be dark because it's refracting the shadow at the bottom of the glass. It could also be that the mesh is not perfect in comparison to real life, so it could be warping the refractions a bit. Another reason could be the values for the render are no high enough. Sorry that it's an eye sore, but I hope the tutorial helped you understand a glass shader.
I hate the fact that I learn more from RUclips than my college teacher. Anyways Thank you so much, btw I love your voice
