There's also this option to convert text to curves. Select your text, press F3 and type Convert to and select the option Convert to mesh. That should give you the option to convert it into curves.
yeah i just tried that, and it outlines the letters so the cylinder would outline and the text isn't connected, well at least using English Essay Font. was hoping it would work but alas back to the beginning
You could just use blender's draw curve tool to create curve on top of text. That would resemble more to the hand drawn text. At the end you may have to do some point pulling. But it helps to create base form faster.
Very helpful video !! Is it possible to attach a pencil as the lines are drawn, to simulate that a artist holding a pencil is drawing. something similar to pencilmation videos
Good and clean tutorial not alot on unnessasary babling around :) when you get closer in the view you can see the dots that seperate. is that the Steps "5" that you set ? or how do you smooth that out
1. you can use the Greace pencil (as shown here ruclips.net/video/5uE-kR99in8/видео.html ) but you must be able to draw 2. You can set the Fill Type or scale the Path to 0 on the Z axis to make it flat 3. For the image sequence i would use jpg, you just need a Black and White mask and jpg is not that memory heavy. 4. You need to set the resolution of the Dynamic paint higher or blur the sequence to hide the aliasing effect (7:59 ) 5. You could also juse the build modifire by converting the curve to a mesh just my ideas to the topic, thanks for the tutorial
oh that dynamic paint thing seems great. did not know that yet. how would you create brush strokes in order to reaveal an image plain with a painting on it that an illustrator made in photoshop? in after effects one could record some brush strokes and create a mask with that reveals the image over time. I assume one could paint on a alpha mask with dynamic paint.
I actually do the same scene. My problem is: I see the Bezier Curve behind my text. How can I change this the way, that I see it on top of the text? Thank you for the good tutorial.
well Now I can make them completely Pink, ithat was initial color. but still nothing is showing up do the cylinders need and curves need to be flat on paper ?
Great tutorial. In English: Vertex (singular) vertices (plural). There is no “vertice” (pronounced verté-see) in English although it's vértice (pronounced ver-tee-sé) in Spanish.
Why move the cylinder? You could just clear the cylinder's origin after it's been parented to the path and it will automatically snap to the very first frame position of the beginning of the path.
Hello! very nice tutorial! I have a question, is that possible to do dynamic paint on a surface of cube or sphere? or we can only do it on plane? I tried with cube it didn't work?
mine wasn't showing up, i clicked auto refresh, tried appending into another file, wasn't in the right place, so i redid all the curves in original file, now i can't find auto refresh, so nothing is getting drawn and maps are all black
I thought about that but I tried it and it did not work that well. It basically made it so that the text had faces rather then 1 edge going through like we did in the tutorial. So having an object follow it would be a little awkward.
hi there. thanks for the tutorial. just one thing i have i can not add the image sequence shader, its not on the list. is it an add on or do i have to activate some button or something? it the only point i can not get further. hope you can help.
I am having a problem after i select the bezier curve and click H to hide..... i press Z to select material preview but the letters are not showing on the plane (aka the paper)..... so far i have follow the rest of the steps and have not had any issue..... I see the cylinder moving in the same path as the bezier curve
A note of thanks. I downloaded Blender about an hour before watching your vid. With absolutely ZERO experience I was able to accomplish the task of simulating handwriting in an animation. Soooo.... good job and a huge thank you. I found that when I wanted to make the brush stop painting between strokes, I had to drop the cylinder below the canvas or it would still paint. I have 2 questions: 1- if I used a sphere instead of a cylinder, would my paint line be a little more dynamic? ie Could I use the depth of the sphere on the plane to thin and widen the brush strokes? 2- do you have a 'how to' video on how to render this animation? I mean, I'm going to subscribe to your channel right now and search your other vids, but if you happen to have a handy link... Anyway, thanks again! JT
Also... since I'm firing off questions... my final product should have a transparent background... I'll see how this turns out when I figure out to render it, but I suspect it will be black on a white sheet...
Forgot to mention that If you don't see the Image Sequence node make sure you have the Node Wrangler addon turned on in the User Preferences.

This has to be one of the best and most complete blenders tutorials I've seen in a long time, well done!!! Really useful :D

You are a perfectionist in animation
Just scale curve to 0 on Z.
Should be one-sided.
Actually, it would have been extremely easy to just use Grease Pencil with build modifier. (Or Draw, idk)
Amazing, thanks
Awesome man 🤩🤩🤩
Big thanks! You saved thousands of hours of my life.
I have been looking for this for so long and finally found this video.
Thank you so much.

Thanks for the tutorial.
Clever!
Cool!! Thanks!!
Thanks a lot! Didn't know those methods, so it's very helpful! I used another method for an animation and it was kind of annoying. So thanks again!
You could have also just traced the font with the grease pencil and then converted that trace to a curve by right clicking :)
Thanks for the informative tutorial and the great technique!
Looking at the thumbnail: "...blew?"
Awesome 👍🏼
The singular form of vertices is vertex.
You made that easy.
The font looks much better than a simple curve. How to make the font appear along as is were being written?
Nice, I've been wondering how to do this.
1. you can use the Greace pencil (as shown here ruclips.net/video/5uE-kR99in8/видео.html ) but you must be able to draw

where do I set this fill type, or scale the path to 0?

thankou so much for sharing
Thank you for the tutorial. I think there are free add-ons that do this pretty efficiently.
Can you please tell which font you used. Please
自動キーフレーム入力で、ダイナミックペイントブラシの方を動かしてもいいかもしれない!
With automatic keyframe input, you may be able to move the dynamic paint brush!
Wanna learn together?
well Now I can make them completely Pink, ithat was initial color. but still nothing is showing up do the cylinders need and curves need to be flat on paper ?
Hi, I'm trying to find a way to make the canvas object 100% transparant..and then "write" on it.. ?
Great tutorial.
In English: Vertex (singular) vertices (plural).
There is no “vertice” (pronounced verté-see) in English although it's vértice (pronounced ver-tee-sé) in Spanish.
How did you change a curve line into a line with arrows, you didn't mention, I hate these people just doing doing but don't mention how they doing
i want to know why it is not writing in write direction
Why move the cylinder? You could just clear the cylinder's origin after it's been parented to the path and it will automatically snap to the very first frame position of the beginning of the path.
Hello! very nice tutorial! I have a question, is that possible to do dynamic paint on a surface of cube or sphere? or we can only do it on plane? I tried with cube it didn't work?
model the plane into a cube in edit mode
mine wasn't showing up, i clicked auto refresh, tried appending into another file, wasn't in the right place, so i redid all the curves in original file, now i can't find auto refresh, so nothing is getting drawn and maps are all black
Thanks, this was good. I haven't tried it yet, but I know it's possible to convert the text to curve automatically (not sure how well it works)
I thought about that but I tried it and it did not work that well. It basically made it so that the text had faces rather then 1 edge going through like we did in the tutorial. So having an object follow it would be a little awkward.
@@BlenderMadeEasy - gotcha, makes sense.
There are also many websites that will make a font of your own handwriting
I literally Followed along 3 times and still the maps i baked are completely BLACK !
glad i could support your supercar collection !
how to make the background transparent?
when I add a font, Blender can't find it...
Thanks.
for the first version: user booleon, than you can make it flat

already solved, thanks
@@napolopo how did you solve this? I am at the same point and have been stuck here for hours, trying to figure out if I did something wrong...
@@MrDewt I used the image texture shader instead and selected all the images in the folder ctr+a. And it worked.
Greace pencil + build modifier
Why is image sequence not showing up for me :(
Turn On Nodewrangler Addon.
Спасибо.
it is starting from end to start
Al my baked images are black.. what to do?
that cylinder must be touching to the paper

Make sure in the image sequence node you have it set to Auto Refresh.
@@BlenderMadeEasy yea I made sure that I placed a check in auto refresh but it doesn't show anyways
@@BlenderMadeEasy maybe I have some settings off or something in blender that's causing this
@@remileallen2706 I've encountered the same problem. Any solutions to this? Or am I also missing something?
@@allainarseneau9204 I could not find a resolution I had to just leave it
pfhoo, that's not feasible for longer parts. It'll take hours! Still thanks
Has anyone else come across the issue of getting stuck trying to find "image sequence" in the drop down shader menu?

@@BlenderMadeEasy lol node wrangler? Epic name. Is that something I need to download and install?
