Technically you don't need the Node Wrangler Addon to import an image sequence. You can just use an Image Texture and it will convert it to a sequence. You should enable this addon because it is super good and it will save you a lot of time when working with nodes. Edit: People keep commenting asking where to download the image sequence. You don't download it. When you bake in the dynamic paint simulation all those images will be created on your own computer. Make sure to set the directory so you know where the images are created. 6:30

That was my first reaction too when I saw @Blender Made Easy typing all these decimals by hand. This feature of accessing the pi constant by typing "pi" is amazing. Whoever implemented this is a really great developer.

I looked in the system preferences to see if it was an effect and that's how I found out that for eight months, my GPU wasn't in use, hence the greyed out section, because I didn't set which plan it would use to render stuff. Now I'm rendering like a thousand samples in a second or less, so he inadvertently led me to save myself a lot of future headaches
I wasn’t looking for paint rolling. I was just looking for new content from my subscription list. You delivered learning and betterness ways into my brains. Thank you. Very helpful stuff. I wish I had watched this 3 weeks ago when I was trying to get a wheel and ball rolling realistically. You’d be surprised how hard it is to get good help these days (regarding rolling)
after I import the image sequence, it just remains black. Nothing is unveiled after the roller rolls over the target area, followed steps all the way through, any idea what's going on?
Really good stuff! As others have mentioned, loved the "what the..." Seems like you put a ton of prep work into this to make it a quick, smooth, concise workflow for people to follow... I've been enjoying the stuff you've been putting out lately, keep up the awesome work! Just saw the follow up to this, looking forward to checking that out!
Great video. You could also just type your calculations in Blender directly. Blender has a pi function so if you typed "0.5*pi" directly, you would get your answer too.
Thanks for the tutorial. I added an image texture but where the roller tougches the page there is a very thin blue line that runs across where the roller and canvas intersect. Any idea how I can avoid that? Because I want to hide the roller from the camera. Thanks
I don't know what shall I do with so much knowledge of rotating the roller, I just can use it for tires or every sort of those things very cool stuff thank you
Awesome Tutorial. I was able to follow it pretty well. I only had to restart a few times. I got lost on a few of the point at the end with animation. I have been using #Blender since it was NAN. I never got into it as heavily as I have since I retired. Now I am trying all the techniques in the 3.0 Alpha and 2.93. Thanks for all the hard work you put into the Tutorial. I will be following more of them.
Stephen, this tutorial and your follow up tutorial with the texture/logo is terrific! Have you tried doing the same with a paint brush instead of a roller . . . would love to see that!
If you are using Blender 2.82 and the Roller is not rotating along the bar. The issue appears on minute 07:27 of the video. Go to the "Object Constrain Menu - Transformation" , go to the bottom, click under "Mix" which is set on "Replace" and change it to "Add". It's under "Rotation Mix Moder"
Hey man idk if you are still active but I need your help. I am trying to do this but anytime I bake the image thing it goes to 2% and then gives me the message baking cancelled. Idk how to fix this but I am trying to do with a water volume to make it look like this slime is painting a character after being covered in it.
Wonderful tutorial. Learned a ton. One question. Once the paint roller has finished the animation cycle, I would like to take the result and save it to reuse it. Basically I want the roller to start up again in a new scene without losing the paint that was applied in the first scene. My animation shows the roller rolling out the first part of a wall, then changing camera angles, and rolling some more. I can't figure out how to take the results of scene 1, and then reuse those results in scene 2, basically continuing on painting the same wall without losing the painting done in the first scene. Any idea on how I can do this?
Hey there! I have a question. How would you go about dynamic painting if, lets say, you have a fluid sim which creates a water splash that hits a wall? If you have a tutorial on that, or if you cover it in your course, please let me know! Cheers
can you please provide us paint map (image sequence) plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You can do that easily in the material. Just use the color as a mask and put in a texture there. The text was just the same thing in the tutorial. The text was a brush and the ground was the canvas.
It worked the first time I did it but then I re-did it and the image sequence is showing as pink even though the files are all in the right spot and it's set to start at the right frame. There was a moment where the right texture appeared for a second but it wasn't moving with the animation and then it went pink again.
I'm trying to get this same effect to work at a specific time in the animation but can't get it to work... bake only the image sequences i needed in dynamic paint and have also tried baking them for the whole animation range but the image sequence looks completely different. Any ideas?
Hi, I have a question. I'm trying to do a Dynamic paint on square object and I want to affect only top face of that square. Is there a way to use Vertex Groups to limit, Dynamic Paint to just affect only selected faces?
This is an excellent tutorial, Thank you to take the time and effort to make it, Just a quick question, Can we make the canvas as a picture and the paint roller actually reveal it instead of painting over it? This is the same idea as putting and adv poster on a wall and use a paint roller with some transparent glue material to attach the poster to the wall. Please advise
@@CorzaVision Thank you for your answer, It worked as I connected the image texture to color 2 input of the Mix RGB and connected the Paint Map image sequence to Color 1 input with it's alpha connected to the Mix RGB factor as before, The canvas (Previously the white wall) became black and the paint roller now reveals the image texture with it's movement. Appreciate your help, Thank you.
