Спасибо за туториал, только начал изучать блендер, но ты всё разложил по полочкам в логическом порядке, что даже я смог внести свои изменения и система не порушилась!)
Very well done tutorial, I think you've hit the sweet spot for users that have the basic shortcuts down and don't need every button press given to them.
For anyone who's having lighting issues in Cycles with the scroll plane mesh clipping through its mirrored side: in the Mirror modifier, enable Bisect on the Y axis
Thanks for sharing what you have learned. it is a lot of knowledge, blender seems like an endless path :) I hope to continue learning little by little. Greetings!
If anyone is having the issue with switching direction on Blender 2.92 where the scrolls go to the top, switch direction, scroll it all the way out so its flat, then edit the spiral and drag it closer back together. It fixed it for me :)
For those who can't make the scroll. 1. Check if the distance of the plane is too long, you should reduce the distance or increase the turns, 2. Sometimes the loop cut is too low, and as a result, the rolling distance is longer than the vertex in the spiral, therefore you may encounter a wired rectangular shape roll, for this case, try increasing the number of loop cuts. 3. When you scale down the spiral, the distance between the vertex in the spiral change, which means the same problem at points 1 or 2 appears. 4. I highly suggest you turn off the mirror modifier until you are good at the roll.
I finally was able to make the scroll. It looks good. My question is, how did you get the brass handles. I love those, and I want to put them on mine. Thank you in advance.
When setting the curve to the -y axis the mirror clips in the middle of the original half of the scroll and moving it on the y axis only moves the mirror. The original half of the scroll stays in a fixed position and rotates
Hey if anyone gets anything weird happen when they switch the spiral direction in blender 2.9 just switch to 2.83 this solved the problem for me. Oh yeah forgot to add you can open it back up in 2.9 afterwards.
@Mara Antonucci okay I'll send you the file maybe you can deconstruct the issue form there. It will have to me when i get home as I don't have the file on my laptop Edit found it drive.google.com/file/d/173D1ZzG6YwqgnKLkoWdqifjlB1rTuacf/view?usp=sharing
Amazing tutorial! I gave it a shot and was able to make it, but, on my renders, I get a strange horizontal seam cutting through my paper, where the object and it's "mirror" touch. Viewport previews are good, though, no seams.
I'm having the same issue. Works good in Eevee, but I see the line in Cycles> I've tried adjusting the UV, the image itself, the texture mapping, but nothing seems to work. Other than that one thing that spoils the whole thing, it's a good tutorial
Thank you for the guide! I have a question. I want to import that model into Unreal Engine, do you know how to do it corretly? ChatGPT says that i need to apply all transforms but it brokes everything
@@ranzabaro9594 i could do it in this way only: Put closed scroll on the scene, make animation in blender, put that animation into the scene and put opened scroll. Closed -> destroy -> animation -> destroy -> Opened scroll 😁
How to export this animation correctly? I made 2 keys (i was using curve spiral to make animation). But when i try to import the same project into a new one (blanc) there is nothing (no modifiers, no animation). How to export animation correctly?
I don't know how to do those cut lines. You said ctrl r but It just makes me turn the image around. Also, the mirror in the modifier did not work. I just did duplicate.
After switching direction something weird happens and the plane starts opening from inside the spiral curve if I press G and Y while keeping the curve selected.... Can someone Guide me as to how can i fix this?

The mesh is not rolling properly ? Method 1 : delete curve modifier and add again Method 2 : 1) 2:22 make sure SPIRAL is in apposite side of MESH (go to edit mode to see where the original MESH is and put SPIRAL where the mirrored MESH is 2) SPIRAL'S origin should be outside spiral -- Select SPIRAL --> Shift + right (it will move 3d curser) click anywhere near spiral... it should be outside of SPIRAL--> Right click --> Set Origin --> Origin to 3D curser If this doesn't work make sure : 1) 2:35 Extrud 2) 3:21 flip SPIRAL 3) 3:46
This is really great, but unfortunately I am having a normals or back facing issue where the blackface for the side not facing the camera will not be shown, no matter what opacity settings or what way the normals are pointing, and since it is on a curve, you inevitably see the issue. It is fine in unshaded view. Can anyone help me understand what is going on, is anyone seeing this? Thanks!
So, I've got it now where my rollers are making big circles, rather than rotating, as I open and close the spiral. Any tips on that? Having a hard time figuring where I went wrong here. I've gone through the steps a bunch of times now.
Can't for the life of me get the flat part to come out after I switch directions of the spiral Its works fine when its the wrong direction but not after I flip it.
Nowhere in the video do you indicate the exact dimensions of the original plane at least that I can find. "About" could have been better if you had hit the N key and shown us the dimensions.
When I set the handle transformation rotation constraint to -360`, it changes the pivot point of the scroll to the bottom side, and so it spins outside of the scroll paper. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong... EDIT: Setting the origin point of the handle to the center of gravity seems to have helped. Hopefully that won't cause later problems with the mirror modifier and it not being centered on an axis. I will update if I run into more problems.
Yeah, this is what I'm struggling with as well. So I guess I have to figure out center of gravity? IDK, but I guess that gives me a starting point to look in to it.
I'm having the same issue in 3.5 Works good in Eevee, but I see the line in Cycles> I've tried adjusting the UV, the image itself, the texture mapping, but nothing seems to work. Other than that one thing that spoils the whole thing, it's a good tutorial
