    One thing that I did that surprisingly really boosted my experience was turning off most of my HUD. The only things I left on was the Quiver, being able to see what I looted, subtitles, and contextual actions. You can adjust it to your liking but I found that taking away the compass, yours and your enemies health bars, adrenaline, etc made the world feel more immersive and things like combat and stealth feel more intense. It most certainly encouraged me to actually explore and enjoy the beauty of the world rather then just run from point A to point B

    • @akmal94ibrahim
      @akmal94ibrahim 2 года назад +5

      I like doing this too with many games but with Ubisoft games, it doesn't really give you an alternative to those HUDs. You either have the HUDs or you are clueless as to what you need to know. You can't gauge your health or stamina without the HUD nor can you figure our where the next mission objective is because the map is too big, empty, samey-feeling and you keep jumping from one area to another, so you don't remember any of the area.

    The game is repetitive and not repetitive at the same time. This is because valhalla gives the player different opportunities to approach any burden. The side quests are all unique and unexpectedly entertaining but they appear almost every where making them unique and repetitive at the same time. Combat is refreshing, Story is really good. Honestly, Ubisoft should've made Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla a new IP. I'm not a big fan of the AC series but I can see how, even me as an RPG gamer who likes this gameplay more, the AC name is what's pulling these games down. Especially with Valhalla. It's really weird being a Viking, known for pillaging, massacring and raping (and we do it consistently in the game except for the raping) to be siding with the Assassins. Surely the Assassins aren't supposed to be okay with us pillaging monasteries and raiding villages. If only it has its own lore, the story would surely be more sensible and immersive.

Unity was slacking tho but the parkour was working and well polished. If you would use it's full potential the game requires a lot from the player as it can be deep and complicated. But after watching reviews it seems like something I'll enjoy more than odyssey..and odyssey is alot of fun . I'm having a blast with it. But valhalla looks a little darker, with all the Viking stuff. Im gonna have to get it once I finish odyssey. Maybe not right after, might be too much back to back but im definitely interested in it now. I saw alot of good things and bad things about both games. But what they say is bad about the odyssey, which is grinding, doesnt bother me. Im not having that problem and am enjoying the game. One thing i think is cool about valhalla is how you find less loot..Ita kinda annoying in odyssey that you constantly find new gear. It kinda takes away from finding anything when you find so much. Less is more. I think it's better if you find something and are forced to keep it awhile. But that's a minor complaint. I'm enjoying it as kassandra. Some of the most fun I've had in awhile on a game. I 100% agree with you. All Assassins creeds are the same thing repeated. Odyssey is a bigger more RPG version. I coukd care less about the "modern day" story bullshit. That got old a long time ago. Just give me a historical setting to kill in and I'm good lol. These games have some of the best graphics, combat and exploration of any games I've played. And ive played all the RPGs. These games are way under rated.

      Odyssey is a fantastic game! And if your still in love with it by the end, I'm sure you will really enjoy Valhalla! its more of the same, with better graphics, more mechanics and more things to do! Its got a slightly darker tone to it, than odyssey, but I think its just because of the gore really. Which you can turn off!

    My only complaint with the combat is it's very frustrating when I have a line of attack planned against three or four enemies, I do my first strike and before I can carry through to the next enemy, I'm stuck waiting for a stupid kill animation that I've seen hundreds of times already and which only serves to break the flow of the battle. Invariably, when I return to having control, my camera will be in the wrong direction making it take that extra step to relocate my next target, who has probably already flanked me. Sure, I'm invulnerable during the animation, but do I really need to spend an extra 5 seconds repeatedly pounding a guy with his own broadsword before I just stick it in the ground, when 1) I hacked him to pieces with my axe and 2) if you're giving away broadswords, why can't I just keep it? Either way, I'd much rather be able to attack, kill, and move on to maybe get the jump on the second character before he's in a position to counter me. It *feels* smoother that way. I think that if they're going to do any kill animations, it should *only* be on the final enemy.

    Look i understand what he means and i agree but you have to keep in mind to the people who are OGs, the games story isn't about the creed, the creed is added but it feels like an add on its just there. They are making a completely new game but with the AC logo. Eivors main outfit (Raven Clan) doesn't have the classic Assassin vibe. I know the trailers wasn't completely about the Creed but it was about Eivor but.. if you take a close look at all the trailers it isn't exactly what they promised us like the "magic" they said there wont be any "magic/mythtic" things that its all illusions but then why do we have mjolnir and like isu armor? If they removed the AC name and logo and removed everything related to AC since odyssey i would have nothing to moan about. Odyssey was a amazing game but not as an Assassin's creed game just like valhalla, valhalla is a great viking rpg game but not as a AC game

      Thanks for giving respect to us OGs of AC. I will always love Ezio Auditore. But Valhalla isn’t so bad. I still play AC3 and Ezio’s collection is on my PS4. And sometimes I boot up my 360 and play some AC 1 as Altair when I’m feeling nostalgic. I love these games. I loved Origins. It was cool following Bayek and seeing how the creed was started.
      Gone are the days of the pope from Brotherhood and AC2. Brotherhood being my favorite AC game just due to the beautiful story. I loved Rome. Passed that more times then I can count. But I have to say I’m having some fun on Valhalla. It isn’t an AC game per se. It’s more so a Viking RPG like you said. It just has some classic AC stuff trickled in. I like it so far. I’m gonna keep playing.

    Regarding stealth. It's worth noting the return of the hidden blade after it's departure in Odyssey. Also little touches like being able to pull your hood up, social stealth making a return and being able to blend into the environment (benches, priests, using drunkards to lure enemies, etc ). The combat and stealth is much more grounded than it was in Odyssey where you were pretty much a demi god as Kassandra or Alexios.

    The problem that I have with the new games is that they just feel like deadliest warrior simulators that try to copy rpgs like the Witcher 3.

      I do think that the focus on rpg elements have made it look like they are copying the Witcher. Which I think is fine in all honesty, but in saying that they have removed parts of the core identity that made assassins creed games so great. And that's the stealth and assassination methods.

    My problem with the combat is that it isn’t grounded in reality. I understand there’s a lot about these games that aren’t like scaling a giant building and jumping into a haystack. However, I feel like what made these games great is the mix of realism and seemingly superhuman abilities. For me though, I don’t want to be able to spam axe throws and never run out, I don’t want to be able jump 10 feet in the air in kid combat. I like to play a game as realistic as possible so when it comes to combat I feel like the only way to play with a realistic feel is to use the light and power attack and shield, that’s it. The bow as well but only when I’m hidden or from a distance.

      I think there is always fine line when it comes to making things realistic. Armor sets definitely could be more realistic, but I think Ubisoft wanted to direct people to the cash shop, so they could make more money. But in terms of making combat and weapons realistic, I think it would dramatically effect the gameplay as well as the power fantasy of being this overpowered "Assassin".

I mean no offence when I say this, but puzzles in games are usually well hinted at, meaning you should have more than enough experience with certain mechanics that make the puzzle fairly easy to solve.
