A few things to know...Avi writes all of his songs (sometimes with a co-write), he only has 2 covers that he has recorded (although many snippets of covers on his socials). On official recordings, all the background vocals are Avi, and many times, the bass instrument is Avi as well. Obviously live he has a band. Change on the Rise is Avi's battle song. His music varies in style but is usually pigeon holed to folk/Americana. I hope you continue reacting to Avi. For a completely different side of his music, I suggest Otherside, All is Well 7layers session #126, or Healing. These will give you the feels but in a different way! Cheers!
Primal is the word you were looking for...This was one of the reasons he left Pentatonix... He was going through personal and family issues and needed to get back to his soul... Everything he does FEELS as personal to the listener as it was for him to write.

There's not enough people reacting to Avi's solo work. It's a very familiar sound, but I too can't find the right words to describe why it feels so familiar. This one is like being wrapped in a warm blanket then exhorted to get up and get out there and change the world.
Avi where to start?! Every song he does is spectacular. I am always amazed by his writing, you can tell is is personal to him yet at the same time it is very relatable to the listener. Every song has a different feel so it is very hard to put a label on his style. While it leans Folk/Americana there are rock, blues , soul and country influences. I saw it labeled Avicana. As others have said there is not a bad song in his catalog. One thing to keep in mind is Avi likes to "cover" his own music. Case in point his latest album Floating on a Dream 11 amazing songs, 2 of which he "covered" for The 7 Layers Sessions, then 1 of these and 3 others he "covered for the Live at Sunset Sound EP.
