Avi definitely writes what he feels so each song will be different. It's hard to pin him to a genre. This last album was produced by Shooter Jennings and in an interview he talked about what a consumate musician Avi is. He said Avi has an orchestra in his throat and you have to record him differently than most singers. They both talked about what a creative process they had together and both laughed about creating a sound they dubbed Space Coyote. To me that's probably as accurate as any genre label so far;) Try "All is Well" next. He and Joy Williams wrote and perform it and the whole thing is gentle and lovely.

He has always been a singer-songwriter but that was not seen alot in Pentatonix. He has changed his look from his Pentatonix pop style quite a bit. This is older 2019 too. Right when he started back into music after a couple of years off hiking around the USA, Europe and Israel. If you want to see what he looks like now "First Place I Go" or "All is Well" are the newest with videos. His very latest couple have no video. "I Can't Lie" is one you might like. Genre will change wildly between each song. Great reaction to a very powerful original song by Avi. This was one of the first singles we got, and one of the most intense. He has put out two main kinds of music, these intense, bass heavy, spiritual types of songs, and a group of more folksy songs. Most of my favorites are among the folksy type, including Aberdeen, Quarter Past Four, Hey Ya (cover)and Adeline. He also did a duet with Peter Hollens right around the time he left PTX (Sept 2017), called Black Is the Color, which is gorgeous. A few of the deeper ones that I like are Change on the Rise, It Knows Me and House of the Rising Sun (cover).
You have missed out on so much since he left PTX. He has had to climb himself out of a breakdown and he wrote some great music as he healed. He bought a log cabin deep in the forests of Tennessee and spent his years returning to mental health writing what I call "healing music". He crosses genera with everything from folk to country to wester and pop.... He hikes his land gives us beautiful music from his deck and his most recent music is indicating he is healed or close to it. He is very close to his family (mother, father, sister and brother) and was not able to be with them as PTX was more and more on the road. His mother had a cancer relapse while they were at their busiest and he could not get home to her. When he left PTX, he spent time with his parents. Camped for a couple of months. Headed to Israel to be with his brother and hike the Galilee then retreated to his cabin. More reactions to Avi are always appreciated.

He just dropped a new single last night (some say a part 2 to this “anthem”) about fighting back from being knocked down. ALL of Avi’s songs have meaning and purpose. His first LP, Floating on a Dream is out on May 20.
