The Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat. And he laid those golden drumsticks on the ground at Danny's feet. Danny said come on back if you ever want to try again. I done told you once you son of a bitch I'm the best that's ever been.
Dude you are so toasted but so on point. Impressive. Most tool fans are quietly obsessive so with reactions like this and a few more tool songs you will build a quick following. I’m in. Don’t fake it. We will know.

Bro labeled this "amateur attempt to analyze", goes on to describe the metronome octopus in the most mathematically accurate reaction on the youtubes. Hats off, Sir. New sub here
I agree with a previous comment, I’ve seen a lot of reactions to this drum cam (because it’s a magical performance) and you have broke it down the best so far. I really enjoyed this and I feel that you need to know lol.
One thing that amazes me is his spatial awareness. The way he plays half of those sections without even looking at half the drums he's hitting is incredible.
Well as a long time musician, that's basically muscle memory. Out of all instruments, drummers do have the widest range of muscle memory. But that's basically it. You have a lot of things to do while playing, so developing muscle memory for your instrument is essential if you want to go ham like Danny here. My point is, it's not even close to being the thing to be at awe here. Though his precision with hits is top notch, hes been playing for a long time.
the look of musical joy on your face is out front for everyone to see. it's refreshing to me to see someone with such a passion for music and knowledge of music. subscribed and all notifications... I'm digging your content. Peace
Dude, the fact that you grasped the time signature this early is honestly astounding. To me it's more easy to count alternating bars of 5/8 and 6/8 three times, which is like 11/8 х 3 = 33 exactly. Anyways, great reaction and good analysis on your part, buddy 👍
The way he responded to catching that miss had me cracking up 🤣 like watching him and laughing while calling him out on it like “ahh what happened there?! You fucked up and I caught you that’s what happened, ha ha!” Before immediately turning to the camera with a straight ass face like “yea that shit happens sometimes” 🤣 btw, if I haven’t see all the reactions to this yet, it’s close lol and you are the ONLY one that’s caught that, and you caught it immediately! Yours has been among the most fun to watch!
Your Tool journey went from The Pot to Pneuma which is like going from Fried Chicken (easy/accessible) to Dry-Age Bone-In Filet Mignon (complex/developed). Hoping you will react to more Tool stuff and I liked you pointing out the little miss in the victory lap in this one ("I see you wanted to hit something...")
Great reaction, been listening to Tool since 1994 and you're the first person I've heard describe them as I have. They have an ability to change your body chemistry. once upon a time drummer lifelong Tool fan. loved the reaction. subbed to witness your journey discovering your favorite band. the song Lateralus was written using the Fibanaci sequence. i think you'd enjoy.
Great reaction! I’ve watched most of the Pneuma reactions out there and yours has one of the best technical descriptions of the various patterns and techniques he is using. Love your vibe too! Thanks!
First saw them in 97, Danny's drum kit was covered during the opening band, it totally dwarfed the opening bands little kit. When the sheet was pulled off and we saw the 2 kick drums and the rest of kit the crowd went mental! The band hadn't even come out yet, they were just setting up for them.
I should preface that I know jack about music theory and counting beats/bars etc, but I am always highly amused at folks trying to figure out the timing that Danny uses on a first listen. I always feel like I should throw advil at you for the headache people seem to give themselves. thanks for the amusement and glad you are enjoying the journey that is Tool so far man. Spiral out

(Note I did not write anything after this message this is from Wikipedia regarding his Drum Kit.) Danny Carey uses the wood tip version of his own signature model of drumstick made by Vic Firth. He previously had endorsed a signature model with Trueline Drumsticks (now Trueline's Tribal Assault model). Carey also uses Sonor drums, Paiste cymbals, Evans drumheads, Hammerax, and electronic devices such as Mandala, Korg and Roland Paiste and Jeff Ocheltree (noted drumtech for Billy Cobham, John Bonham, Lenny White, etc) teamed up in the late 90s to develop an entire drumset made out of recycled cymbals. The final product was a melted down Paiste's Signature bronze custom cast cymbals.Danny Carey used the kit during the Lateralus 2002 tour and during some drum clinics through the years. Only three versions of this kit were ever created. Two are owned by Danny Carey and Carl Palmer and other one is located in Paiste's Switzerland headquarters.

Carey is one of those drummers that is so good and proficient that it seems almost effortless and like he is just playing something much simpler than he is. Some drummers put on such a show that they are doing something cool or hard (sometimes not even that hard) but Carey just does it like it is no problem. He is one of my favorite drummers. Neil Peart and Gavin Harrison are two others like this. I love Portnoy but he is in the more metal style in which he makes everything seem crazy. Not that he does not play crazy things also, but Portnoy is so animated about everything while Peart, Harrison, and Carey seem more businesslike. I like the latter more, but Portnoy is one of my favorite drummers also.
10:00 "Oh, my God. So, he took the snares off his snare! That's why it's been sounding so interesting." He typically does that. Not really sure why. I know that he likes drum sounds that ring out, so maybe that's part of it. I honestly haven't payed much attention to it, but when I think of his sound I don't hear the snares.
