    Hi
A quite long video here this time.
Admittedly, was my first time working on one of this, and learning and figuring out things as you go along, it is not necessarily the easiest or quickest process...
Nevertheless, I believe that a successful result was achieved, by finding and repair the problem...
The problem, which was the rear air suspension of this car, was not working... initially not raising, and later impossible to drop!
In the end, the problem was found and repaired, without the need of any parts!
    Hope you enjoy the video.
Any questions or comments put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching!

Definitely has a cover held on by plastic nuts 3 or 4 of them if I remember the last time I dropped one. Top job as always. Last car I had with this issue was an audi a8. Bear of a job to swap and the 40amp fuse is under the passenger carpet.

Brilliant troubleshooting there as always Luis, also a big thumbs up for fixing the dump valve. I can imagine what BMW would want for a new one given last week's parking sensor horror trip down main dealer parts service lane.....or what quality the third-party ones are. Also, you are absolutely right in suggesting your customer get a second hand cover for the compressor opening, undertrays are there for a reason.

Interesting find and nice video. Hope this will help people with the same problem. This fix will last for some time until water enters the valve and rust it again. I think that initial problem is sealing somewhere in compressor as he allows too much moisture/water to let in the bleeding valve.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Год назад +1

Compressing air naturally generates the moisture, which that sort of sand material is supposed to absorb... I guess will only absorb so much, untill it starts to pass further into the valve... I also guess some moisture might the able to naturally dry and some escape through the bleeding/dump route... yes, will not lat forever, just as the brand new one fitted at the factory didn't...

Great video, i have a 2016 g12 750ix few days ago i noticed the front left suspension flat down, the next day it was still down and now its both front left and right. 2 days after, i press the ride height button by the gear lever and they both raise up for a few hours. But i hear a hiss sound by from right wheel. Is it my compress or shock?

    • @LMAutoRepairs

I would say the shock/suspension airbag...

Maybe I missed this in the video, but why was the car dropping initially ?
Freeing the valve resolved the blowing fuse, but how is that stuck valve linked to the car dropping ? ie. why did it very significantly reduce the rate of dropping ?

You couldnt do the calibration because you should measure the actual height distance from point to point and write it. It does the calculation and rises or lowers the vehicle depending on the difference. 620 is the setpoint and the equation is X(actual height) - 620 = Y. If it is 625 (actual) - 620 (target) we would get 5 which is 5mm above the nominal value and the car will drop at this side. Just to know for the next time. BR

@@LMAutoRepairs Hi and thanks for reply. OK, longish story but July2022 fault message on dash re Chassis Check OK to drive. 5 times into BMW but they only did code clearances and visual checks only. Finally, after insisting they come up with an answer, they ID'd pin hole leak on left inside rear air-suspension unit. They couldn't change such for 4 weeks but I needed car for long-haul trip, so got local recommended garage who've done several of these refits etc completed Nov23.
All was OK until mid Feb23 and same fault messages occured re Chasis Restriction and said above garage ID'd fault codes 480DB1 - Lower Control Time; and 480DB5 - Control Time Lowering Right Rear.
This garage could not be definitive as to what needs changing etc but rear shocks appear fixed at full height and I could not hear blow off valve operating. But then again because of cover, didn't hear this blow off before. Shocks permanently raised to full height, I think.
So, garage recommend new compressor but as they couldn't be sure of actual faulty unitm I'm not inclined to buy a new unit. Hence, why I think to investigate for the potential fixes / approaches.

These systems will eventually end up with water in them and that will corrode all the valves. I have not tried on one of these compressors, however, it usually takes about 150 degrees C for about 24 hours to dry it out. It should be possible to do it in the kitchen oven?

Not sure if you will reply in time, as im going back to bmw tomorrow.
2 months ago, i noticed car was lowered.
I turned engine on and it rasied itself back to normal.
This then continued, could lower after an hour or sometimes days and then every time i start engine it would go back to normal.
So i bit the bullet, took to bmw and then diagnosed as it needing a new air compressor which i paid around £1.3.k to have sorted.
Got car back and week later, it lowered.
Gutted i am, because i go back tomorrow for them to take car back and look again and tell me know what they think is wrong.
Ive suggested they got it wrong and they relaced a part which dodnt need replacing.
They are digging heels in and saying a new fault has happened which is causing it to lower again.
Have you got any ideas on how i can approach this.
    Thanks

    • @LMAutoRepairs
