Another great repair video (rather than replace). You have to be one of the best at these and your patience is a lesson to us all. Also encouraging to have a go and learn. Thanks
Your so much braver than me buddy i would end up breaking things taking them apart. Great fix as always repair not replace attitude is such a money saver
Hey Luis. You got very lucky with the break on one end. I just "fixed" the clock spring on my father's Modus. The break was in the middle of the ribbon cable. I've used as tiny amount of solder as possible, and a small piece of tape, but the fix lasted only about a month. Now it makes scratching noises when I turn the steering wheel, and airbag lights are back on.
Yes... when the break is in the middle, any repairs might not last... it all also depends on how the ribbon moves... some are just as spiral, some turn back on themselves... The movement breaks anything that does not flex... 👍👍👍
Had a similar problem on a brand new XC90 gen 2 - the buttons on the wheel worked interminttently and it would switch interminttently the lights on/off and indicators. The dealer said it was a steering wheel button problem and promtly replaced them wiping their hands by showing that they worked after the procedure. Only it didn't fix the problem and the lights continued to live their own life and it was getting embarasingly annoying sitting in traffic and randomly flashing everyone. So I disassembled the indicator/lights stalk and found that there was way too much lubricating goo in there. The movement of the stalk rubbing on the tracks made some metal powder transforming the goo into a conductive paste - thus triggering at random electrical signals. Cleaned it all and it's been about 5 years (this specific) problem free. Hope it helps someone having a similar problem.
Good morning Luis! Many congratulations on reaching 100k subscriptions. I hugely enjoy watching your videos. What a way to understand and learn about repairing a faulty steering button issue caused by water ingress through a leaky sealant on the windscreen! I have no technical skills but just out of interest how long did it take you to fix the fault? Cheers
So did this today, well just up to the airbag and controls out. The cable connecting the two steering wheel controls was damaged. The connection block had broken releasing all the wires. Any ideas where i can get a replacement or even a new connector block ?
I had the same problem with my 2009 Renault Laguna 3 before it had broken flexcable i just soldered and covered with electric tape job was done (of course i watched videos on youtube before)
Good morning Luis clock spring work is fun done load of nissan elgrands where it folds back on bypass the copper tracks get 100 s of microfractures not such fun needs ribbon replaced
Hi Luis, could I ask a a totally unrelated question please, I want to get forscan adaptor and software for my Kuga, there are gazzillions on the internet, what should I look out for, some are amazingly cheap but are they any good? Thanks
The elm works pretty well... it is just annoying the having to switch between can speeds... There is other compatible VCIs that obviously switch automatically... But for DIY I would go EML... Buy the pro forscan licence and you are ready to go...

I'm tempted to say successful repair which worked without issues for more than a year. Thank you Luis
☺️
It worked just fine indeed!
👍👍👍
I am Amazed about your commitment to repair it.. I won't tuch it. I would only replace it.
No fun in replacing... the fun is in finding the problem and be able to repair!
Sometimes, replace is the only way though...

Fix was relatively quick...
It is finding the issues that take some time...
Few hours with the recording etc...

Dealer should sell everything separately...
Ask them...
Otherwise used...

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks, much appreciated i'll look into that 👍
Initial thoughts was a common ground or squib failure.
😊
👍👍👍
great video however I have a question, don't you disconnect the battery before removing the airbag? Isn't that dangerous?
☺️
Well...
My advise is yes, you should disconnect the battery...
👍👍👍
Did you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the airbag ?
Highly recommended...
😉
Every other video disconnects the battery but you didn't so not sure if I should ?
@brambles0077777777
To be safe, disconnect the battery...
👍👍👍
Can someone help me please my horn and buttons are not working but no airbag light issue .... any help appreciated
The failure can happen with a few different symptoms...
You need to investigate and do your own checks...
