I'm an old school muscle car guy, and I haven't kept up on the newer cars of late, but I'm shocked that an SS Camaro and a Hellcat ran in the mid 14's to low 15's. 14 and 15's were the norm for the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. Last week, I took my friends 2021 ZL1 Camaro to NE Dragway and turned an 11.82 at 124 mph, and it was my very first time ever on a drag strip. Eventually, it ran 11.31 at 124 mph consistently. I had no idea there was that much of a difference between an SS and the ZL1. (Other than the price tag).
My 16 SS runs a consistent 12.3 to 12.4 range on all season tires . This looks like a group from an event who never raced before. Here in Ohio we have these Jax Wax events we're anyone can bring their cars and run them plus do the car show . In this video you see even in the first race how the camaro driver goes past the line and has to reverse to get staged , rookie mistake for sure .
@williersteve I'm on all seasons too. I have like 300-400 pounds of tools and other gear in my trunk and run 12.4 in a manual Scat. These drivers obviously can't launch their cars properly. I can get off the line without spinning and I never use launch control.
The night I went to NE Dragway, it was amateur night. As I said, in my post, I had never cut a light on a dragstrip, and it was a good thing it was amature night. I made some rookie mistakes that would have pissed off anyone if it was a competition. After I got it running the 11.3's consistently, I worked on my reaction time. I'm happy to say one run I had a .123 reaction time. No matter what. I had a blast, and I'm sure the amateurs I'm this video did to. People are too quick to pass judgment on someone else without knowing the story. Just have fun!!!
First scat camero could have one but the driver in the camero everything sucked at coming off the tree his or her reaction time as ass the second scat had some upgrades... but if I'm being a 100% honest the camero is more of a track car
i jus want to say i have no idea what any of these numbers in these comments mean, all i know is that the first one to cross the line in tht shortest wins xD
Jesus! I could jump in that white camaro and make it run in the 12's FIRST TRY!! My stock 2017 1SS camaro with 2-12" subs, all other speakers replaced with heavier better speakers and enclosure in the trunk, plus sound detoning material added to the doors, 😢truck etc stereo mods must have added 150lbs or so, plus i am 250. And I run 12.6 sec 1/4 mi all night with my 6 speed manual. Pathetic driving by all!
I have so much fun... beating both SS and Scatpacks with my.... 2017 Focus ST😂. Those V8s aren't really that fast. Now ok my ST is bolt on tuned on race gas, but stock turbo. I never get tired of seeing those V8s look of disbelief and disappointment. Oh yeah I can go around corners too. They'd never catch me in a canyon.
This video makes me feel good about running a 14.9 in a 1997 Lincoln Mark8
These guys were at high altitude, tends to slow down cars
by like 4 at least@@trevorshark16
Can't be sleeping at the tree like that.

It was a Scat not Hellcat. I run 12.4 in my 6 speed manual Scat stock on street. Probably can lower it on track.

WHY CANT PEOPLE LEAN HOW TO DRIVE AND STOP BEING SCARED TO PUSH THEIR CAR
Maybe the same reason some can't write or spell. 😅
Sweet burnouts
"Dodge, the brotherhood of muscle"
Awesome cars. Don't know why the person driving the SS is taking so long to get off the line.
Definitely was the driver in tht 5th gen camaro you can tell he has no delay box obviously
I wanna see the Tesla's race 😂😂
Dang Camaro drivers sleeping at the light
And the engineers at representing Chevy... never mind it's always been like that 😅

Regular traffic driving. It just got more sad as it went on and on...and on
That scat did it to him😂
Guy in the camaro is sleeping at the light
Must be at seriously high altitude

These are Miata 1/4 numbers wtf
Camaro lost 2/3
Ya, the last was against a 6 banger challenger !
Watch the full vid... White camaro walked the scat and it was a manual vs auto 🤣🥱 keep coping.

Camero came back and won that last one!
Although it lost, mustang would've crashed 2/3
Beemer would have override em all
There was a beamer in this video? Where?

not at that altitude
Where are the muscle cars BTW??
Many times...it's the driver....NOT THE CAR
I made an assumption it was a Hellcat. 12.4's are nothing to sneeze at. Good luck with your car. Get it to the track. It's worth it.

Well obviously your car that’s modded is gonna beat a stock v8? ?? Good for you lol
...you wont at that track...turbos hate altitude
Nothing impressive, By the way the S pack is named after the Rat pack from the 1950's Dean Martin Sammie Davis Jr Frank Senatra and so on.
W Nash ST
