  • Today we test out a precision 12ga slug designed and fabricated by a viewer from California. We had a number of failures initially, but after some re-calibrations, managed to save the day and get the slugs functioning quite well.

If people understood just how dangerous the Welsh Rabbit is, they would understand the need for this slug. Many knights have fallen to this savage beast, and they're usually hunted by elite forces using very specialised hand grenades from Antioch. These have been in short supply due to global supply challenges, so it's good that there's now something completely different. Especially as the Welsh Rabbit is delicious on toast.

First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

I am missing new videos. I hope all is well on your end. I have been going back and watching some of your older videos. I must say that over the years, your videos have progressively gotten better. It's amazing how much technology with the cameras and sound has improved, as well as the way you put the videos together. Hopefully now that O.G. is retired he will have more time to help you with the videos as well as maybe he will have time to produce more content for his channel. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Jeff ,Thanks OG and Thanks to the Bright Spark who created them . Those first four shots were certainly pretty wayward , but Jeff's swift analysis and cunning use of logic & judgment to lighten the load certainly tamed the last of those slugs , of course they were not at all tame, and really proved rather effective , and down right impressive in the lead plate . If the donor of the slugs were to make another batch I'd suggest machining the bronze pusher plate thinner and using a hardened steel pusher plate wider than the hardened steel penetrator in the hope that the penetrator isn't pushed back through the base . Having now presumably having been able to watch this video I would assume he's probably having similar thoughts . Well done to all of You for making , loading & shooting these really interesting slugs. Catch You next episode (even if I am late to the show) Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.

Another incredible round and, MY GOD, is it nasty! You don't walk away from something like that! It would be a great round for hunting squirrels. (The real mean ones that won't stay out of your bird feeder). I'm also VERY impressed with your field diagnosis and field modification! No one can deny that you know your stuff! Thanks for another great video. Very informative and amusing. The round in the gel was a work of art. My compliments to the Anonymous Donor for design and workmanship. He put a lot of thought, time and effort into those slugs. Thanks, guys. Keep 'em coming.

I’m glad you loaded them at a higher fps, due to the nature of the slug. Due to them being a solid hydra static round that acts like a hollow point but staying in shape. But it was very cool to see they stayed true at a slower speed

    Outstanding!
Jeff's ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. With a couple inches of penetration before starting expansion, this would be interesting with a shoulder blade, piece of skull or equivalent on the front of the gel. Heavy dinner plate and a few pieces of leather? Sure would like to see that if the anonymous donor would fab a few more projectiles.
    Excellent content as usual.
Appreciate the time, effort and expense you guys put into these.
    Keep'em coming!

I found the best tool to disassemble slugs is an old fashioned potato peeler, the kind that has the blade running parallel to the handle. Hold the slug in one hand and use the potato peeler to "peel" the folded edge of plastic off. The slug will now drop out. Easy and no danger of getting cut.

I have a strange idea but it might help you with misses and recovery of fragmentation.
A large kevlar curtain draped loosely over a rope that is suspended across two poles, you'll want as much width and height behind the target that you can get, and the thickest kevlar you can get ahold of.
This will help deflect the rounds into the ground, and reduce their impact energy by a lot, increasing chances of recovering intact projectiles.

Pretty nice results! It is a cleverly adjusted compromise between an armor-piercing and an expanding projectile. But still, I would love to see a diabolo-shaped or fin-stabilized version of this slug, so that it could potentially be loaded hot enough for its penetrator to effectively go through the AR500 plate.

I think I got a bad batch of FS12 gas seals. At 12:45 you can see how torn up it is even with the lower powder load. Never had this problem before even with heavier, higher pressure loads. I've used 60 grains of Longshot with a 7/8 oz slug before.

The Gel Block Test you can clearly see the 2 petals on the bottom side of the Block pop out one at a time but still close together that's why the arrow shaped wound chanel 4 petals of metal and then Hardened Core going all the way out the Back.💀
