- With mpox being declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization because of its rapid spread, all eyes have been on the Democratic Republic of Congo, which accounts for nearly all of this year’s recorded cases and more than 450 deaths.
In visits to treatment centres in the east of the country, the BBC has found children are worst affected by the illness, which can be deadly.

It is always a gut wrenching sight to see people, especially children, suffering in such dire circumstances. So unbelievably saddening.
BBC still refuse to show non-black cases. Until we see cases outside Africa no one will care! Why? Africas wealth doesn’t stay in Africa but to the former colonial powers 😮

It’s crazy, DR Congo, is the worlds largest Cobolt exporters used in Telsa cars but is one of the worlds poorest countries? Since colonisation by Belgium and the genocide, conditions have not improved. Africa should never be poor!

Poor families... many innocent Congolese have been hitherto displaced during the cyclical, violent conflict in Congo which has killed 7.2 million over the past three decades just to be met with another deadly outbreak in a span of only four years after the corona-virus pandemic. When will the suffering of these people end?
