Saw dutch's vedio yesterday, Walker Farm Fam and Arm vedio today, besides yours today. VW farm I watched two days ago, about the fire they had. And how lucky they were that they didn't lose their whole farm and all the animals, due to a heat lamp. G-D was watching over them. My heart goes out to all of you, in your time of need. As a kid I can remember when it would get 20 and 30 below freezing we'd put smudge pots in The Orchards kerosene heaters out for the animals and at times we'd be out of water and melt snow for everyone and everything. Stay warm and dont stay out long. Take care

You know Kevin I have lived in the Midwest for over 50 years and I have never adapted to cold weather so do not feel bad. I hate cold so much and we have been this cold for about a month.
Y’all are allowed to gripe and complain about the weather. I’m in Minnesota and lots of folks complain about the cold especially this time of year. February is notoriously this cold every year! We will shut down faster for this kind of cold than snow. Prayers sent! Keep warm and stay safe!

Kevin, y’all having some of our weather. Those eggs are excellent protein for the dogs to give them more energy and keep them warm. Poor Dutch, Bo Morehead, Daniel Arms and your family. I hope your pipes aren’t destroyed. I saw a house on CNN where water had come downstairs to a kitchen ceiling fan and was frozen. They might also have electrical problems. If y’all don’t use winter/summer tires and in some cases snow chains and your automobile doesn’t have all wheel drive, i’d stay off of the road. In fact stay off the road to be safe from the bad drivers. I think we have your winter ❄️ weather as we got some rain yesterday and I turned off the upstairs heat here cause it’s warm. We will turn it on when it gets 🥶 . Y’all please stay warm and safe and be careful of frost bite. God bless y’all. 🙏🤟👋😷❤️

I feel bad for the animals, like you said they are not used to these temps even with their fur coats. I pray all stay well and safe. Maybe add a tarp to the small barn to keep out the wind and keep it a little warmer since they don't have a big barn. Hope the moms can hold off birthing until it warms up more.
Looks like you're doing a great job keeping the animals safe. You don't get used to -19. It's just miserable. I've lived in northwest ND all of my life. You're so kind to even leave food out for the wild birds.

On your jump gate for the dog find a piece of something shiny shiny plastic or maybe a silver blanket of some sort and hang them up on the inside. Remember goats don’t like water if they think it’s water maybe they won’t go through the gate. Worth a try don’t you think!!

I agree with you about dogs staying outside. You have shelter for them and they stay warm. I have beagles that stay out all year round. Their houses are insulated and have straw bedding. I had one in house for 2 days because she had a growth removed from face. She HATED being in the house.
People also say I should put them in garage. I tell them it is colder in garage then in their warm doghouse. Stay warm.
Hey Kevin, I see that you're making your rounds checking on the animals. They can't fend for themselves and I know that your kind of worry about some of the goats will start kidding. Hopefully the mama's will hold out until the weather is better if the can't at least there's the barn to get them in. Cook oatmeal for your chickens. They appreciate a warm meal also when it's this cold. If you have leftover bacon grease or hamburg grease soak some oatmeal in it to give to chickens for extra calories.

No freezing temps in southeast NC but we have had enough rain for a month. The nearby river has crested and once again the small neighboring town 4 miles from us is flooded. The 3rd time in 3-1/2 yrs but it’s usually after a hurricane. We should all just count our blessings.
Kevin ,just in case u havent thought if this already... you can pack snow in tubs n then use them as water supply for animals if your water line freezes up ... using your water heater to get it unfrozen !!! Prayers to you n urs & all the animals!!!
Layers. That will keep you warmer. Try some scrambled eggs with leftover cooked green beans. Something my mom used to fix. I even add chunks of Velveeta in mine sometimes. Good anytime. Stay warm. We’re trying our best up here west of Chicago. When we had our blizzard up here in 1967 we had a 5’ drift on the side of the house. Prayers for everyone in this snowy, cold mess.

You should wear sunglasses when out in snow like this! It prevents snow blindness, same as skiers when they are out in the snow! It is painful to open your eyes because it is so bright! A gentle reminder Kev, all that clean fresh fallen snow is a water source if heated up and the cold outside temperature is your built in freezer if ( God forbid ) you loose power .
I know y’all aren’t used to being out in the snow an awful lot, but you really, really need sunglasses in the snow. The glare from all the white is very hard on eyes. Just keep yourselves completely safe through this. God bless!

Kevin my mom used to make a big pot of oatmeal and after breakfast for us she would take the cooled oatmeal and add a bit of milk and get dad to give it to the dogs it filled them up in the cold weather better than dog food stay safe and take care god bless 🙏🙏💕
I've seen LGD's lay out in -23 degree weather. Not shivering, not shaking. They curl up in a ball and let the snow cover them up to stay warm. It's amazing to see. And if you try to confine them your home. It will be remodeled or torn apart. How ever you would like to describe it.

👍👍👍. Take some time warming by the fire and think and be grateful for all the planning and work you both have done from the moment you took over your beautiful land. Mistakes if any you’ve fixed not realizing that one day all your work would truly matter for your family and animals and even your farm equipment. That’s a planner and a great steward of the land and one with great wisdom. And as a team you’ve made it work when needed like now AND made your place also beautiful. Gramps would say also prepare for the worst even if it doesn’t happen. Years ago he was seeing changes back then and wondered what it was telling him and so he studied the journals his dad and gramps had left him that I have now. Then he improved on what he read with the technology of the day. Shelter was the first thing and he just kept adding on to it and then watched the drainage of the land. I swear it was like he understood all the modern conveniences we think we need was going to ruin the land not knowing it would affect climates all over the world. Sure wish I could have one moment to talk with him and thank him for lessons he passed on. Like you we made sure to be ready for anything even if it didn’t come. Excellent video cuz memories of working in the snow cane rushing back. Fortunately didn’t have artic temps for days and weeks like you’re having to deal with....just deep snow. Am praying for all of you and the animals AND for those who think climate change hurting our earth isn’t real. Best to plan for the future and prepare for this again cuz it may be a warning......our earth is hurting. When I was a kid we used to go to the grandparents up in Illinois during the winter and my Grandpa used to go out and feed the animals. So I do understand what you are going through. I'm trying to get caught up on videos I have missed due to the weather we got here in Texas. Love y'all

From a northerner. Keep all facets dripping to prevent frozen pipes. It does work. Also, fill bathtubs with water, for toilets that might freeze your pipelines. Open kitchen cabinets so sinklines don't freeze. Hope this helps some one.
When I lived In Ohio,we always let our facets drip in the cold freezing winter. Frozen pipes can cost a lot of money.

Put some bacon or sausage grease on the dog food to help them want to eat and it's good for their skin and coats. Stay warm & safe. God Bless
-27* air temp before windchill was brutal the other day here in eastern Nebraska during chores. I’m glad we’re between kiddings. However, like you said, we anticipate this in our area so we build all of our goat sheds with insulation. R8 insulation with plastic vapor liner and a few goats and babies in the kidding shed and it was 28* in the building while -27 outside.
