I have about 3 acres that I mow with lots of trees. Decided on the 1025r after watching Tractor Time with Tim over a zero turn. It has been a great choice. The loader has come in handy. I have a JD trailer, tiller, and a few other attachments that I use a lot for driveway clearing, and garden work. So glad I went with a compact tractor over just a mower. Your channel has been very helpful.
Thanks for the details. Fyi, I've had a JD X739 for a number of years. This the largest just below the 1 series, but may not be something you cover. I use it almost entirely on my lawn. The 4 wheel steer, full-time 4wd, and factory "HDAP" (heavy duty all purpose tread) tires have been awesome. As advertised, no scrubbing, tight turns with mower. I have a large hilly lawn with many trees to mow around so this has been great for traction and maneuverability. Liquid cooled engine. I use a large Cyclone Rake vac on the rear, too. I have no loader, nor three point, nor PTO, although PTO could be added. The drive-over deck with belly PTO quick-tach is terrific (easy), I take it on and off multiple times every year.
Wow, a year already? Time flies when your on your tractor. LOL Thank you Courtney for the 1025R overall review. I got mine last June and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait for your future videos and insight. Please say HI to Rosie.
Totally agree with the info in the video. 8 years ago, i bought a 2025 instead of renting one for a month. BEST Investment ! At 65 yrs young, i'm trying to work smarter. My machine has low hours. However, when i need help, the JD2025 is there for me. Pallet Forks are a necessity. Whether a 1025 or 2025... a very wise investment. You won't be sorry.
My first tractor was a fixer-upper (1951 Massey Harris 44), so I had an idea of what size I wanted / needed. Bought a 5055E with a few things (like extra hydraulics and bigger tires) that I thought were helpful and after twelve years have no regrets. Perfect size for my needs.
Thank You . I am so glad that you take the time to explain the good and bad . I agree that having a quality dealer network is vital to keeping out machinery alive and well . As you point out proper operation and maitanance is vital . As a point if trivia I had a 1963 5010 , that I used on my small (200 acre) farm , when I sold it it had 8700 hrs , still was as usable (mostly) as when it was new . My point is size the machine to the use , budget and time. Merry Christmas , Happy new year
On the ballasted tires, I only use Rimguard, great product, my one issue on these smaller tractors is my neighbors tractor rubber valve stems fail three times over 15 years and I just replaced his rear tires this year due to broken belts in the sidewalls, it’s a x585 and is used residentially to mow around a acre and plow his driveway, 800 hours in the tractors, it would be nice to start putting liquid valve stems in the rims when they fill the tires, the rubber ones seem to separate from the brass core over time and fails at the most unfortunate time
Your original duel spacer seems to have done a great job keeping the mud and debris out of the area between the wheels. These new spacers will allow a lot more debris to live on the inside of the rims. Also, watching some farming channels, some farmers running duels even triples lower the tire pressure by a few psi on the 2nd tire and again on the 3rd tire to reduce axle issues.
Great info as usual. I agree there should be some kind of skid plates. Good to hear you're not having troubles with the duals. Looking forward to a comparison to the spacers. Think that's the route I'll end up going.
@@pastormike5054 Something hit and broke the neutral switch underneath while I was running the brush hog. Need to go out and look under there later to see what else is subject to damage.
I don't know why it would break an axle, big farm tractors run duals all the time. They just run less air pressure in the outside dual so there is some flex though.
My dad and I bought a JD 3025e 2 years back and so far it has been a back and knee saver. I have to say the only reason we went Green over Orange is because the JD Dealership is much much closer to our house then Kubota is. If Kubota and John Deere where across from 1 another we would probably still be trying to figure out which 1 to buy. From everything I have read and every person I talked to throughout the different tractor brand owners you can't go wrong if you do not have a tractor and you need 1 your going to love any tractor brand you choose. The only way I could see someone being disappointed is if they own a 5 or 10 year old tractor and buy a brand new tractor of a different brand and the controls are different or it's not as powerful as your last 1 but if your like we were, doing everything by hand you cannot go wrong with whatever tractor you pick
I really enjoy your informative videos, i wish there was a dealer like you in our area with knowledge and service. the JD and the new Holland dealers here in Anchorage and Wasilla Alaska, only have time for new tractor customers and have terrible customer service, I asked the JD dealer if they had tooth bar and he didnt know what I was talking about. plus nothing is in stock, everything take a year to get in and super expensive...
Great overall review. I am pleased with my 1025R. True that the BH and the $s behind it sits most of the year (mine is inside on a caddy). Nice to have around when I need it though and not have to run around to rent something. Pulled a couple of pretty good sized stumps already this year in my property and neighbors. Slow but effective. I think it has paid for itself over the last 6 years. Matter of personal opinion obviously..LOL! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. The convenience of having it when you need it is hard to measure in dollars, but it's a nice feeling and likely helps us get jobs done quicker that otherwise we would put off. Don't think we're trying to say no one should have a BH, just that most should think through it before they pull the trigger!
Wow GOOD WORK TRACTOR thanks alot about for all the information? I really appreciate: I learned something new from you everytime. STAY SAFE 👏🤟 HI ROSIE good to see you 😊
As a design engineer going through your videos: You've only gotta worry about snapping your axle if you put a large load on the 3 point hitch. That axle is essentially designed for the worst case; the whole weight of the tractor teetering only on the back wheels, plus the max 3-point load. Widening the tires does probably make the axle the weakest point, but as long as you keep your 3-point load below half of the max, you don't need to worry.
I just installed the single point system on my 1025r and im not overly impressed with the hose layout both from the original connection point up to the new single point and also the hose setup from the loader to the quick connect
I have had my 1025r fun 15 months put 200 hours on it and think it’s a little bit small for me funny thing is when I bought it I thought it was going to be a little bit big I thought about a x700 boy am I glad I got a loader and a 3 power hitch I only mowed for 70 hours plowed snow for 30 hours
I'm a single dad and had to save for months almost a year to get a Ford 3400 with front loader I love it even though I'm to broke to get a bucket just yet I really want a stump bucket
I wish they made a front fender kit. Sick of gravel being thrown on the mower deck when I move it up the road or property trail to reach other parts of my property I cut grass on.
Great job again . Also in addition as stated before i was going for one of the bigger series of tractors. Many factors came into play for choosing the 1025r . As stated before the reasons where many. Tractor cab height and cost to fix garage doors. Plus with all the other videos here and this one too, make a very great and compelling case for the value, ease of use and the function of this great little tractor . It just works so very well. Thanks again . Courtney Tim
The biggest drawback I have experienced with the 1025r is the ground clearance. One of the properties I help maintain has a lot of rocks and stumps which would really limit what it could do. Otherwise they are capable little machines that can do okay at almost anything you ask of them. I ended up going with the 3032e mainly for ground clearance. It does have its limitations but overall does okay for what I need it for. For the bigger stuff the 74 hp Bobcat gets the job done.
Have a backhoe for kubota mx5000 think I might actually use it more then my real ford 555 backhoe due to size and hauling to job sites only problem is connecting and disconnecting is there any tips I swapped the backhoe from working off the tractors hydraulics to self contained bit of a pain to hook up the pump to pto but makes the hoe so much stronger and faster without having to run it wide open I can nearly do what I need at 12-15x rpm believe it’s a 12ft might just be 9 but good for what I do and the 300$ I have into it haha
I really appreciate all the info you make available in your videos. I recently aquired a 4100 tractor. What later version is equivilent to this tractor? 1st time tractor owner.
If you had two different sets of tires (industrial with ballast and the turf tires without ballast) , how would you run the rears with spacers? Would you even do it with different tires?
Thanks for all the great information it just makes my decision to purchase 2021 1025R the right decision. I just wish I had all the knowledge that I have now before I purchased. I am spending a lot of time making my tractor safe that I could have built into the purchase. The one question I have is I know Frontier makes a clamp or 4 position bucket but who else makes one for the series 1 tractor? Have you ever done a review or used one. Thanks again for all your knowledge.
My wife and I are currently looking for property with acreage and while looking for heavy equipment videos found your channel and been really appreciating the information you share , good or bad. We are aiming at 40 acre but are willing to own more if the budget allows . My question is when shopping for a used tractor how many hours on a unit is too many given its year model ? Have you done a used tractor buying guide vlog ?
What are your thoughts about the Branson 2515H, 2610H, and the 2505H specs? The 2200 lb loader lift capacity on the 2515H is awesome. The ground clearance if 16" on the 2610H is great too. I enjoy your videos, thanks!
Did you ever find any answers? I have 30 year old jd garden tractors, which I can get any part for from the dealer ,if not in a day, less than a week. Will Branson be around in 10 years? Will they have parts available in 10 or 15 years?
@@charlesarmstrong3536 I actually bought the 2515 h, and I love it! It does everything as advertised and so much more. The dealer got me my 50-hour service items at cost. It has outperformed several similar model tractors within close proximity. It easily does the work of other 30 to 40 horsepower tractors of other brands. I've moved over $29,000 pounds pallets with it, pushed out several 2 ft diameter oak tree stumps, started on a small pond, cleared several trails in the woods, moved several down the trees, and many other smaller projects. It's never struggled. The one time it's strained a little was not because of lack of power, but because lack of ballasts. And that was moving a tree stumps full of mud and roots that was bigger than the back of the tractor. I wound up putting it in low and using my pallet forks as levers to drag it out of the hole and push it off to the side. Once I got a proper ballast, I carried it to the burn pile.
WOW, hard to believe it's been year. Hi Rosie I bought 3 inch spacers for my 2025R but have been afraid to use them. It will be interesting to see how yours workout. I think I should have bought smaller ones. There have been times more stability would have been good.
Do not be afraid I have stacked spacers on my 1026R for 9 years and I punish my tractor, I use it commercially, snow, construction, carry more weight than it should, use it for a Bobcat, live on a hill with 15% slopes, broken almost every bolt on it but it just runs & runs, have a few thousand hours on the spacers and never a problem, they saved my life more than once. Please do your self a favor and install them, you will wonder why you waited. My tractor is so reliable I am afraid to replace it.
Have you ever heard of anyone selling dual wheel kits for Kubota L3901 tractors? I like your setup on the JD but I can't find anything similar for Kubota.
What % grade would that dual wheel setup be able to go across laterally/across? I've got a roughly 30% grade that I take my small yard tractor (2008 Cub Cadet LT1050) across with ag-diggers on the rear while mowing and I'm wondering if going to dual rear with ag-diggers would be better. I know it's not great for the oil in the engine at that angle but it's not for very long and the oil pressure has never dropped enough to trigger the kill switch.
Love the review. I tried to buy that model, couldn't work with the dealer. I love my B2601 and it's more tractor. But I think I prefer the 1025r to the BX series. Heretical for a Kubota guy. Your use of the JD and how you've tricked it out, however, show what a classic the 1025R already seems. JD's engineering shows even if they do farm out more components.
How much is insurance running for full coverage on a 1025r? Im thinking about getting one but not sure if i can get enough work with it to make it feasable.
Another great video bro, may i ask, what kind of mower is that in this video, i like the look of it, oh am definitely leaning towards the 1025R sub compact tractor for my small hobby 2 acre farm
Man I can’t wait to get a tractor, haven’t worked one from the last like three decades that didn’t need to be returned within a day but soon! Also what kinda seeders do you use for food plots wid a subcompact? For the deer or for the table plots? 💚😎👍
I was wondering what you used for liquid ballast. I just invested in rim guard for my older tractor because it just couldn't push the bigger piles of snow.
This is really a good video on the long haul of everything that you've been putting this tractor through! In your opinion, what do you think is realistic for the 1025r to lift with forks or a grapple at 3 or 4 feet in the air given you have good ballast in the back. Also, given the price of the auto connect mower deck would it be just more efficient to have a ZTR mower?
I actually made a weight bracket for my grader box, which doubles as my ballast box. I do have a question tho, how did your weights fit on the front mine runs my hood if I did that.?
Well sir, I have just moved to MO and found your channel. I have a few questions for you, if time permits. I have about 1 acre of "lawn" on a 3.85 acre lot. What type of tractor would you recommend for general lawn care and light snow removal off a driveway?
If your ground is on even I wouldn't recommend one of the one series get actually a lawn tractor with the appropriate attachments that you need I've got the 1023e and that 54-inch deck scrapes real bad if it's got uneven ground
I also live in MO and had a JD 2305 (previous model to the 1025r) and now have a 1025r. I have 2.5 acres with half of it wooded and have cleared the majority of the brush and debris as well as around 100 trees. The key is to having all of the right attachments. I still don't have all that I need or maybe want, but i'm getting close. Yard word takes a whole set of different attachments than dealing with the wooded area, however I enjoy working on the tractor and using the attachments when they do a good job. I just bought the HLA snow pusher with a back drag for my 2 concrete drive ways and it works great. I used to use just the bucket on the 2305 but i was wearing down the front edge to much. I also plowed the cul-de-sac we live on as well.
Awesome 1 year review of the 1025r. I've been watching your vids now for a few months and am sold on purchasing a 1025r. The one thing I'm concerned about purchasing a used one, either from you or another seller, will my local JD dealer accept warranty work (provided it's still under warranty) or any work should it need it? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
They should without a problem. We had purchased a lawn garden John Deere tractor, d-170, from an individual that wasn't very old and we had a rear end problem. It would have been a $900 repair bill, but the John Deere dealer that we used looked it up and it was still covered under the warranty. That is one of the reasons I am a fan of John Deere. They are really good to cover warranty when things malfunction if it all possible.
I find it makes good ballast during the summer for loader work. Just unloaded a pallet of singles with the forks. Could have not done without the hoe on the back
Don't know what the big deal is about duals. Farmers have been putting duals on tractors for longer than I've been alive. Some tractors have triples and stick out 10-12 ft each side!! Not saying you can't break the axle, you just have to pay attention to how you drive and what's in front of you.
I would like to buy the grab handle that bolts onto the rops just befow the lights on the left side. I understand that it comes with the back hoe but I don't have that. Can you just sell me the grab handle at a resonable price. John Deere wants big $. (It is the grab handle that you hung your blue ear protection on).
At Robert, I believe you are correct, I have a 2019 with a backhoe and I have that handle on my Rops. If I am on a weird angle, or I have been running recently and my knees are killing me, I do tend to use the handle to assist in getting up onto that little operator station for the back hoe.
I luv my John Deere tractor but, their mower deck is terrible . Unlike Simplicity whose mower deck has back rollers that glide the mower over the ground , John Deer rear deck I’d fastened to the tractor thus go over a mound in lawn and you just scalped that part of the lawn .
If you're looking for your next tractor attachment, then you gotta check us out at www.goodworkstractors.com. Thanks for watching!
Can you use the Bora wheel spacers with the mid-mount mower deck?

Hi Rosie
I bought 3 inch spacers for my 2025R but have been afraid to use them.
With the loader and brush hog how long a trailer I need ??
These are great vids, solid useful info, as always.
Backhoes are a great counterweight for the back end of a tractor :-p
Have you ever heard of anyone selling dual wheel kits for Kubota L3901 tractors? I like your setup on the JD but I can't find anything similar for Kubota.
Throw a choker onto those pallet forks and pick up anything and move the load or put it on a truck or even put a piece on a work table to fix it.
Oh, and just noticed at the end you are able to have front weights on AND the loader!? As an old guy with a bad back, that really appeals.
Would you put dual tires on the front axel?
Is there a duel wheel adapter kit for a Kubota L-35? I mow in a lot of soft ground.
Great video, thanks.
I’m curious as to the overall width on the dual wheels setup ?
Man I can’t wait to get a tractor, haven’t worked one from the last like three decades that didn’t need to be returned within a day but soon! Also what kinda seeders do you use for food plots wid a subcompact? For the deer or for the table plots? 💚😎👍
I have a John Deere 3039 R cab tractor. Which wheel spacer would you think I should consider? Herman Padgett Mobile, AL
Tires look like they are Rosie approved!!
I was wondering what you used for liquid ballast. I just invested in rim guard for my older tractor because it just couldn't push the bigger piles of snow.
These are filled with TL90, an ag by-product.
What do the back tires weigh loaded?
This is really a good video on the long haul of everything that you've been putting this tractor through! In your opinion, what do you think is realistic for the 1025r to lift with forks or a grapple at 3 or 4 feet in the air given you have good ballast in the back.
Also, given the price of the auto connect mower deck would it be just more efficient to have a ZTR mower?
Will factory wheel weights work with the duals, you show in the video?
Can this size tractor be used to grade a gravel road with a box grader?
are the wheel spacers hard on the wheel bearings i need to know
I actually made a weight bracket for my grader box, which doubles as my ballast box. I do have a question tho, how did your weights fit on the front mine runs my hood if I did that.?
I made a weight hanger on my box blade for better digging and my ballast
@@jjacres129 I got 300lbs on my 5ft box blade constantly. If I need more ballast I add more weights
If a factory cab with heat and a/c was available, would you have gotten it?
@@jimmcknight3021 Thanks for the reply. Cheers!
The loader removal & install is a pain in the ass unless your whole tractor is on level ground.
very nice tractor i would to get one someday
Great video! What do you use for a microphone? Sound is terrific!
Thanks! This is the current lav mic that we're running. amzn.to/3n2wutA
Is that concrete with turf?
Haven't watched the video yet, but I am betting it's a 1025r
What sizes do they come in
I got A chipper but can't run the pto without someone in the seat
Bypass the seat switch
I couldn’t get the link for the wheel spacers to work for some reason.
Looks like their site is down for the moment. I imagine it'll be up and running soon.
OTTIMO tutorial
Superlike 👍👍👍
I know I’m in the minority, but I love my backhoe and use it all the time :)
I also use my all the time. It goes on and stays on till i need the chipper in the fall. So easy to remove and install
I found It was good ballast during the winter for plowing snow.
I find it makes good ballast during the summer for loader work. Just unloaded a pallet of singles with the forks. Could have not done without the hoe on the back
Mines in the shop for the first 50 hour service and most of those hours was using the hoe....
I am always surprised at how much "they" seem to know
Good video brother
Hi Rosie
Poppin bro
Don't know what the big deal is about duals. Farmers have been putting duals on tractors for longer than I've been alive. Some tractors have triples and stick out 10-12 ft each side!! Not saying you can't break the axle, you just have to pay attention to how you drive and what's in front of you.
I get this from your website: Error establishing a database connection
I think we're back in business now. Server was down for a little while. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Why deere won't use a skidsteer mount on their loaders is beyond me.
Is Rosie a Boykin spaniel?
She’s a Field Spaniel :)
good review
I would like to buy the grab handle that bolts onto the rops just befow the lights on the left side. I understand that it comes with the back hoe but I don't have that. Can you just sell me the grab handle at a resonable price. John Deere wants big $. (It is the grab handle that you hung your blue ear protection on).
At Robert, I believe you are correct, I have a 2019 with a backhoe and I have that handle on my Rops. If I am on a weird angle, or I have been running recently and my knees are killing me, I do tend to use the handle to assist in getting up onto that little operator station for the back hoe.
Who was the dude in the woods at the end? Lmao.
I luv my John Deere tractor but, their mower deck is terrible . Unlike Simplicity whose mower deck has back rollers that glide the mower over the ground , John Deer rear deck I’d fastened to the tractor thus go over a mound in lawn and you just scalped that part of the lawn .
4 X 4 TRACTORS earn their keep. You'll find out if you don't buy 1.
