Sent my Akaso v50x back due to audio and the way it frame stutters in 4k. I just got my Campark v30 today and already can tell a huge difference! I hope the v30 works for my needs as I am tired of buying all the different budget cams and sending back. Thanks for the video of the comparison!
Hey CaptJeff, How has the camera held up as of now? I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the Campark but cant seem to look past how it looks "Posterized" in this footage.
I'm guessing you used wdr on both cams for this video, if so I defo prefer the contrast of the akaso, gives more freedom in post and is considerably more detailed in shadows
AKASO V50-X Update: After much experimentation, I have found that this Camera performs very well with the latest firmware of Nov 2019 except that when using the APP "ACASO Go" or "RoadCAM," the issue is that the soundtracks with either internal or external mics have Pops and Crack sounds. I have not been able to find a workaround for this issue. If you make movies without using the App(s), no problems using this Camera. In this mode, I would give it a 10 out of 10, including video quality (4k) and sound (internal or external mics.) Let us hope they fix this sound issue with their App in the next update
As of today, the price difference is $5 between the 2 and Akaso can take an external mic (granted its proprietary), I think it worth it for better stabilization, and video detail.
@@DrekiTech I contacted Campark about an external mic. They said that their mic was "under producing" at this time but they will send me one from China. Hopefully they will have them available for sale soon.
The listings for the Campark V30 say it has three FOV angles - can anyone confirm whether that's right? Campark support is closed till Feb 9 for a holiday - they told me to email again then. The V50X apparently has four FOV angtles - 170°, 140°, 110°, 70°. Btw. maybe good news for V50X users - there's now an external mic. I found it on Amazon after a comment from Akaso about the V50X - the listing is called AKASO V50X External Microphone for AKASO V50X and Dragon Touch Vista 5 Action Camera Only
Great review as always. And also a lot of 1080p footage ;) thanks Dreki. I have a question about a camera seled in Europe mainly. The BOIFUN 20MP 4K. It's really cheap because inside Euro zone we don't pay postal costs. Can't find info about chipset anywhere. About 50€. Includes mic in and remote. The body case is similar to my lost thieye T5e. I'll give it a try. I need a cheap cam. I want to try some Moto vloging with my Vespa around town. Do you think buying the BOIFUN is throwing money to trash? Kind regards and happy New Year.
The Amazon reviews on that Boifun cam are fake! I would avoid it just because of that!! But it's likely based on one of 3 chipsets. Allwinner V3 (I think probably not since it uses a mini jack external mic), Sunplus 6350 (more likely), and then worse case scenario is something similar to this: ruclips.net/video/JB7XIM7ERek/видео.html That cam was so disappointing because it had the best audio of any cam I've tested but its video was just awful. Hopefully it's better than that 😂 But I would only buy that brand if you have an easy path to return it on Amazon if you don't like it. But if you do, let me know how it goes!
I own a Campark V30 action camera and I must say that the only video you can watch is 4k / 30. All other settings, including 1080p / 60, are total shits....
I bought the Akaso v50x and an external mic (firmware 20191101). Videos are lagging @ 4k. I may need a faster sd card or to change some settings? Audio was out of sync when i used h265. My biggest problem is poor quality videos @ 1080. I will try @ 2.7k too. Just cant wait for a newer firmware. Nice reviews btw. Keep up the good work.
I've not used the external mic so I cannot comment on it. Haven't had audio sync issues but I also don't use the h265 mode because it messes with my video editor. Is it working in H264?
@@DrekiTech Yes, no audio out of sync issues when i use h264. The external mic is working fine. I hope that they will provide us better 1080 quality with the next firmware update.
As always, you did a terrific in-depth analysis between these 2 cameras. I am a competitive swimmer and would use the camera for underwater filming of my technique (to send to my Australian coach online to point out technical faults), and particularly for slow-motion capability. Have you tested either of these cameras for underwater filming indoor and low-light conditions? If not, which would be the better camera for my purposes? Thanks! BTW, I notice the traffic flows on the left side in your video, so I'm assuming you're in England?
I'm in NZ. No sorry I've not tested underwater indoors! Most of my underwater testing is done at the beach here, our ocean isn't super clear so I don't always share that footage. Maybe I should test it in a pool in the future though good idea 🤔
Apparently both the V30 and the V50X have sound getting out of synch with the image after recording for a while; the V30 (after a couple of mins) more so than the V50X (after about 4-5 mins). Did you experience that too?
Only a problem if you set record length to infinity. If you set record length to 3 min, the cam makes a new file every 3 min and doesn't run out of sync.
CamPark V30 (4k@30) & X30 (4k@60) Both support External Microphone Support; Can we use Third Party Microphones or only CamPark branded? Crosstour CT9700 Doesn't support External Microphone. No fisheye correction with EIS on either. There is a 2k60 mode but it does not look good, I would not buy either camera if that is the mode you plan to use. DBPower D5 no 2K mode at all.
@@DrekiTech I'd like 2K for possible cropping when editing at 1080, I wanted a step up from the Firefly.
