Great review! Thank you Daniel. I agree with most of the points. Just regarding the battery life; I didn't experience any battery drain, neither idle or nor riding. 🙌
I did buy it in september at discount price 500,- euro of. Best thing is you can place the bike whenever you want whit out chain lock, even in Amsterdam. And also 1 frame size, 1 color, 1 price so not like other brands they make like 3 or more models per type bike and can not deliver all of them anyway.
I had my eye on it but I think Vanmoof did an unsavory Price Hike. It went from being just under 3K U.S. to being nearly 3,500 bucks, so, I'm putting my chips on the Vanmoof V when it's released, a faster Bike with front,& rear suspension.
VM do play silly games with the prices. This is in essence a $3k bike, and at that price it’s a great deal. Note that the V (IF it ever comes) will need license, insurance, tags and a mirror; and will not be allowed on cyclepaths in many jurisdictions. It’s not comparable to the S5.
Yes it’s simple. 2 Allen bolts (inbus) on the sides, remove with the VanMoof #3 tool in the toolkit. 2 rubber caps are supplied to plug the holes when no mount is fitted.
Thanks Aaron. It’s a bike holder called Dayde from made.com, reinforced to carry 30kg, and mounted on a 30x30cm white gloss backboard to give it enough depth to accommodate the VM handlebars
You briefly mention it in the video, but vaguely. What’s the riding experience without power assist? Will these feel weird riding when compared to a 10 speed ‘traditional’ bike?
Not weird, but ‘heavy’. My S3 was honestly a better ride without power, the S5 has a form of dynamo/brake regen built into the hub that makes it less pleasant than the S3 to ride without power. Still absolutely do-able, but more a “gets you home” option than a “lazy Sunday cruise”
This is the worst bike ever. Every day a different bug and customer support is not available. Now it is locked and I cannot move it anymore. Never VanMoof again. In my opinion this is a scam company!
I got my S5 Venus last week. Absolutely perfect, in every respect.
Great review! Thank you Daniel. I agree with most of the points. Just regarding the battery life; I didn't experience any battery drain, neither idle or nor riding. 🙌
Seems to be a first-charge thing. Subsequent charges were fine - about 1.5% drain per day and normal usage during riding
really great to see that you are so happy with the bike. I think the S5 is a game changer for VanMoof
I think so too!
they just filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Netherlands. Buyers be aware.
Urgh Dan!! What about security feature ?! Once it’s locked? Alarm noise?

Unfortunately they can’t deliver the S5 at the moment either.

@@danmoof not comparable? Meaning what,..it’s not a real bicycle?
Thoes bikes are so cool. Im waiting for when test rides available in minnesota.
Dan! Great videos and reviews! Are you based in Netherlands?
Is it possible to remove the sp-connect mount? How does it look after the removal?
Yes it’s simple. 2 Allen bolts (inbus) on the sides, remove with the VanMoof #3 tool in the toolkit. 2 rubber caps are supplied to plug the holes when no mount is fitted.
Dan my man. Have you got a three month follow up. And how long delivery
Any other video coming in ? 🙏
More will follow in the New Year - stay tuned!
Nice review. Love that bike Mount behind you on the wall. I have an S3 and have been looking at indoor options for storage

Thanks again for sharing...it seems to be a very good choice :)
1:59 - They'd could potentially be used as emergency/signal indicators as they've previously hinted at 6:03 - ruclips.net/video/i2duNMOM5mI/видео.html
Isn’t the headlight blinding others coming towards you?
No it’s a shaped beam; very well designed. Im US mode (see my other video) the Angel Eye halo ring is activated as a daytime running light.
Thanks for all the vids 👍
You’re welcome!

That’s definitely no ideal. When people choose bikes to purchase, riding experience is probably the most important aspect of the bike.
I was wondering about the saddle, how is it?
Same construction as the S3, slightly softer. Takes a bit of getting used to but fine after that
Thank you very much
Thank you for that video. What do you think about the halo rings concerning rain and water?
Not anticipating any issues; they’re well sealed, and O-ringed into the frame so should be fine.
Bike can be inmenging under water completely so the rings at top must be fine.
How does it compare to the Nireeka?
Not familiar with the Nireeka I’m afraid
Can you tell if manual gear is working ?? is it possible to use direct button to change gears ? With extra 2 buttons should be possible..
No - you can choose Flat, Hilly or Custom switching, but no manual switching is currently available.
You can adjust shifts moment in the app
Thanks for a new video:)😁
