Can't we just have a nice and relatable coming of age story of a girl experiencing her first period- without making it some unclever allegory?
Yes, I want one of a boy experiencing his first symptoms, too. Kids need a comfortable way to be told about puberty, and they need to learn about both genders' in a way that does not feel invasive or unrelatable.
There will be rule 34, you won't escape it by making the kid ugly and a panda. You will only court even creepier pe(does)ople.
Remember the coming of age story with two fish boys that came to the surface? It came out in 2020 so it wasn't too long ago. The same media outlets were out there demanding that the boys be gay for each other or they thought the movie was about the boys coming out of the closet. They clearly were neither of the two, yet it shouldn't come as no surprise anymore. Poor choice of words or her little fantasies slipping out? You decide, cause I think it's the former.
Couldn't disagree more. Menstruation should be covered in a pamphlet or a chapter in a biology textbook. Making up weird stories or allegories just attaches weird connotations to something that's just a tedious biological function.
