16:05 "This makes Disney look like a cult."
Yeah, about that. Disney IS a cult, Walt's successors were just a little more subtle about it than L. Ron and his flock. Well, not by much, but enough to stay off everyone's radar for decades.
A buddy of mine married into a "Disney family," I went and visited his place once. There was Disney stuff everywhere and the entire family (well, the blended part, this was a second marriage for both of them) had daily Disney movie viewings and the little kids and the mom recited lines as if they were repeating scripture. Plus, they treated their yearly visits to Disney World like a pilgrimage to Mecca, which to them it probably was.
I made the unfortunate choice of making a innocuous remark about how Disney missed the point of the original story of the movie they were viewing (Mulan), and the mom looked at me as if I had cursed their ancestors and started vehemently defending Disney's various choices for their "interpretation."
I later discovered that my buddy was no longer permitted to invite me over (not that I minded, that place was damn creepy, and so were the wife and hellspawn he married into).

I have a coworker that is very much into Disney. He goes to Disney Land once a month. I remember him raving about the Star Wars part of the park and loved it the first time he went. Interestingly enough he does not talk about the Star Wars part anymore the next month. I asked if the went into that part of the park and he just commented, "No, the ride was down". It is interesting that this guy has been completely silent about the Star Wars hotel, and this guy loves Disney and Star Wars. I know his job grade, so I know the range of what he gets paid and it would seriously hurt his fancies to stay in that Star Wars Hotel.

My house costs millions of dollars. … In my neighborhood, there are four Black people. Hundreds of houses, four Black people.Who are these Black people? Well, there’s me, Mary J. Blige, Jay Z and Eddie Murphy. Only Black people in the whole neighborhood. So let’s break it down … Mary J. Blige, one of the greatest R&B singers to ever walk the earth. Jay Z, one of the greatest rappers to ever live. Eddie Murphy, one of the funniest actors to ever, ever do it. Do you know what the white man who lives next door to me does for a living? He’s a f***ing dentist. He ain’t the best dentist in the world. He ain’t going to the dental hall of fame. He don’t get plaques for getting rid of plaque. He’s just a yank-your-tooth-out dentist."

@@risingofthethorn1197 Wrong. This is not for the population you mentioned. Coachella Valley has been a getaway for the rich and famous for almost a 100 years. For the people buying in this community money is no object. This is not an amusement park, it is a second or 3rd home. A vacation retreat. It is no different than the many upscale gated communities that already exist in the area except for the innovations they are adding. Most of the communities in the area have golf courses and that pass time is on the decline. The new wealthy people want something different. And with shopping and entertainment inside of the gated community it becomes very attractive. It will not only be a success it will copied.

Edit: FYI, Disney doesn't have teams of "Imagineers" for hardly anything. They have routinely hired existing outside companies to design and engineer something (like multiple rides), have the entire company sign NDAs, and then claim that Disney's Imagineers did everything. I worked for one such company, for 5 years, about 25 years ago.
