Though, if you really really want to give the Disney experience to your kids... Legit the best way to do it is to go to Tokyo Disneyland.
The park is cleaner, people are nicer respect the queues, the rides are pretty and well kept, the price is lower, the waits are fewer, the attention to detail is top notch.... I mean, It's Japan so yeah... they care about this stuff.
The downside though is... You would have to travel all the way to Tokyo first and the rides are in Japanese... On the upside they have sea salt icecream there which inspired how everybody is always eating sea salt ice cream all the time in kingdom hearts XD

Their first mistake was that price. Second, they based it on the sequel trilogy. Third, they alienated potential hotel guests when they called them -ist or -phobes for disliking TLJ or any other Star Wars movie or show. I mean I cannot imagine why they are not booking a room that offers less than Burj al Arab in Dubai but is nearly as expensive.

    • @-yeme-
      @-yeme- Год назад +12

maybe I'm just not the target demographic, but to my mind the biggest mistake was the whole concept. its so unappealing to me, the idea of spending days on a fake spaceship doing this weird role play, actors swinging fake lightsabres, talking to fake droids, doing fake jedi training, I mean, you can probably tell what I think of it. it seems so contrived and, frankly, dumb. of course I understand that different people are into different things but I cant help thinking that the number of people who would really be into this, their potential pool of customers, is pretty small to begin with.
offer a weekend break in a nice hotel and most people would say yeah, great. offer this bizarre experience and most people, in my opinion, would say thanks but no thanks. I genuinely wouldn't want to do it if it was free.

    • @KathrynTestBot
      @KathrynTestBot Год назад +4

@@-yeme- There are other LARP destinations that do just fine. So long as you go in with an open mind they can be fun. When I was a kid, my parents used to take us to one for US-Colonial roleplay back in Indiana. It's kind of goofy that all the people inside are "in character", but for kids that's a ton of fun even if they don't completely buy into the roleplay. And they also had a Sleepy Hollow event for Halloween.
Disney just got overly arrogant with this. It strikes me as less a LARP experience, and more of something for rich Karens to show off selfies of on instagram. "Lookie me, I'm rich, I can afford to cruise in real Star Wars!"
I've said it before, but they should have stuck to the OT (*maybe* have occasional events for prequel trilogy stuff) made it a longer "cruise" with a lot more stuff to do for a price point like that, and it would have required a much bigger facility to pull it off. For a mere 2 nights? It should have been closer to maybe $1-2k for a small family. And the sequel trilogy is pretty much the worst offense here. There's no getting around that most people just don't want that. I don't wanna live in Woke Wars, the real world is too woke already.
This whole thing just wreaks of a terrible execution.

Just returned from a week in southern California. Our experience with Universal Studios was flawless, pulled up to the main entrance. Valet parking, parked the car. Walked a small distance into the park. Lightning pass worked on all rides at any time. We made it to every ride and went on the Harry Potter and Mummy roller coaster several times.
Disney was confusion, mistakes, anger, one car honking their horn at me a good 10 seconds long and that was just when arriving and getting to the parking garage. Which is not marked from the road it is on as to where it is. I ended up pulling into employee parking because I had to find the parking garage by trial and error. A kid on the tram screamed so loud it caused my 78 year old moms eardrum to later swell and seep blood. I stepped up on the curb around the pavement to get a better picture of the Falcon. A park employee comes along making a thumbs down sign at me, yep for stepping up 6 inches onto the curb, like I'm a 3 year old that has to be told to get down off of things. I saw a lot of crying children and even teenagers as I traveled around the park. Zero of that at Universal. The Genie "Lighting Lane" is total joke compared to Universal's. You can pick only some of the rides and it won't be until a time usually hours from the time you choose it and can only choose one at a time. That means you will do lots of walking "ping ponging" the park back and forth to get to what rides you can maybe eventually get a lighting lane pass for. Disney is open 2 hours longer than Universal but we only made it to maybe 60% of the rides and none of the shows. I wasn't even gonna go to Disney at all, but only went because my nephew wanted to buy a movie quality light saber from one of the Star Wars stores. Sure enough it was by far the lesser experience after Universal Studios.

Galaxy’s Edge - the other enormous issue is that land feels more like a mall than anything else.
Other big Disney problem - The amazing Imagineers who worked for Disney and are still currently working have a lot of them moved over to Universal. That says volumes about why things are being done at Disney. If your top Imaginaires can’t even work with you anymore that says it all.

Ironically LucasFilm would have done the character of Finn better by just letting him sacrifice himself. He would have gone out a hero instead they gave that to Miss Pink hair and had Rose stop him to say something nonsensical. I don’t even think Finn does anything of note in Rise of Skywalker. Just a glorified background character

Yes... in the first sequel I was REALLY looking forward to Finn and Rey being like roguish partners and working with each other to grow and learn... even go through some hardships and trying to find Luke... I would have enjoyed that possibility and meeting with Han and even having them both trying the lightsaber and maybe Finn preferring something else... it could have all worked together into an honestly interesting variant on Episode IV: A New Hope... but then the idiots unceremoniously just murdered Han in the most undignified way possible and completely ignored and even trashed the relationship between Han and Leia... We will not even speak of the unforgiveable horrors visited upon the next movie by Ruin Johnson (How apropos that has become slang for a DICK!) But NOOOOooooo they just had to do everything in their power to cripple, maim, and destroy everything that went before on their false altar of woke... They could have even woven in many of the elements of "Diversity, and at least Inclusion if not EquALity" with casual references instead of forcing it in our faces like an errant dog turd... I am not a writer but can think of several ways they could have done it to make sense and fit in seamlessly!

No middle or even upper middle class family is spending $6000 for 4 people on top of every other cost for 2 nights. It's delusional. This is for hyper-wealthy foreigners. What real families do: stay at a Wyndham family hotel, get tickets to Disneyland for 2 days and Universal for 2 days and maybe Knott's Berry Farm or Seaworld for another day. Spend a day at the beach. Eat breakfast at the hotel's continental breakfast. Lunch at the park. Eat dinner offsite neer the hotel. Each kid gets 1 souvenir for the entire trip. That's what a more realistic summer vacation for an American family looks like... even this is probably luxurious for most families.

Well they were underwhelmed by the Disney trilogy so much that instead of rushing to Galaxy Edge immediately they are waiting until the next Disney trip comes up. Did the Mouse REALLY think people would fly out here and just fly back home without trying to get SOMETHING out of an already expensive trip?? Cheapek and his minions are just lost in the woods. Meanwhile Gru and HIS Minions are dancing and laughing in Super Silly Funland. (It really exists, there's one in Universal Hollywood and in Japan. The biggest problem with the appeal of the sequel trilogy isn't that they failed to create compelling villains and therefore failed to create compelling heroes. It's that they chose to instead try to tear down the legacy characters and their achievements to make the new batch look relevant. It didn't work, so all it accomplished was to eliminate the appeal of the whole franchise. For example, why would I care about anakin/vader when I know that his whole arc is pointless. Ditto for Luke, Leia and Han - they wasted their lives to accomplish nothing. Oh sure they brought down the empire, but fast forward 40 years and Leia is still leading scrappy rebels against the K-Mart store brand empire, and oh look they even have a planet(s) cracking super-weapon.

And a Jedi swordplay attraction for dueling in Batu. Again all after hours at night when the area is JUST for Starcrusier guests. Dump the first order story, gut it and bring back the empire. Keep the on board activities for the children, cause that’s about all it’s interesting for. Either that or dump the hotel and just make it another reservation attraction.

i watched from atrioc's VOD who is a guy who went on that cruise and telling the stories of how he got into the bad guy's side (can't be bothered who is who at this point...) by giving a nod and saluting to one of the bad guy's generals when boarding the cruise while his wife got into the resistance side which was the default route if you didn't enter the bad guy's route or the gambling den's route.... and because of how their system works is that per room it is tailored to only 1 faction, they experienced even lesser of the things the cruise had to offer for both routes....
